First and most importantly, Locust Valley Market is a cut above in so many ways, but today I would like to share my experience with two individuals who work in the deli/catering department. Locust Valley Market had Bell n Evan's turkey on sale so I decided to go in and check them out. So glad I did. Not only was staff attentive friendly and willing to help. But they have a butcher on site who butterflied my turkey. Meat selection was wonderful, produce was fresh and their shelves were stocked. Didn't have to go anywhere else. Got everything on my list. Absolutely a true "hands-on" market, great meat, produce & Deli superb, with Dave at the helm of the deli, always ready to help or prepare excellent food. If an item is not available, they will order it and service is what all employees are trained to do. Its my main stay for shopping and I am grateful they are in our small town of Locust Valley! I don't always go to this market. Today after work I was heading in that direction for another appointment when I decided to pull in. I walked around the market trying to think of things to make for a quick dinner for my family. A man that work there asked me if I needed help finding anything I told him no I'm good I'm just trying to think of things for dinner. Every time I went up and down the aisle, he kind of stared at me and followed me. When I was checked out and went to leave, I turned and he was at the door saying goodbye. I got the feeling he thought I was trying to steal something. Very strange and I don't enjoy being followed around the market looking for something to make for dinner. read more

A very nice little, local grocery with good selections and great produce. The main reason I avoid going here is that for such a tiny store they are somehow unable to track what they have listed on sale. Their little yellow stickers clearly show what items are on sale but when you go to the checkout everything rings up full price. When you bring it to the cashier's attention they always look at you like you have 4 heads and say those items are not on sale. The burden is then on the customer to leave the line, take a picture of the items on sale and show it to them in order for them to honor their own pricing. On some occasions I just let it slide to not look like a cheapskate and hold up the line. read more

Local market. There has been a serious lack of local market options in the L.V. but now that Locust Valley market is open, the locals don't have to schlep over to Stop & Shop anymore. The place is small but has enough of everything that you should be able to find what you need. They actually have a nice meat and produce department (they use a local farm for some of the produce which is nice). Prices are average- so when you factor in convenience, the prices are pretty good. Absolutely best produce selection in the area by far with lots of local options at fantastic prices. The herbs and greens section alone is absolutely phenomenal. The deli counter is always well staffed and has an excellent selection of prepared foods. I'm a HUGE fan of the vegan empanadas. They will blow your mind and meat eaters won't even know the difference! The rest of the aisles are stocked well with quality and affordable products so you can get everything you need and be in and out quickly. For those who live with elderly, be aware stock employees often wear masks below the nose (consistently) and manager station area by freezer often has manager or employees talking and eating in aisle with masks pulled down. Only cash registrar attendants are properly masked. I've had to stop shopping here. Otherwise, a good small grocery store. Some unique local offerings among all the standards. Very fresh produce, good selection of foods, delicious prepared foods., good service, good prices. Small but excellent grocery store.

This is a good local market in terms of product quality and selection. And the staff is very friendly and helpful. But lately, the prices charged for products have not matched the prices on the shelves or product labels. For example: $9.99 for a $5.99 bag of coffee, $6.99 for a $5.49 loaf of bread, $9.99 for a $4.99 container of hummus. Checkers immediately assume customers have made the mistake and some think a receipt is optional, so be sure to ask for one. Management seems unsurprised when these errors are brought to their attention. There are many elderly shoppers at this location and if they are being overcharged like this, then they are being cheated. Time for a visit from Nassau Consumer Affairs. read more

I'm a huge fan and pretty much shop exclusively at LV Market. They've got everything I need even though it doesn't look large enough to. During Covid, they always had all the essentials - more than any other store - and they had delivery or order and pickup where I could order and drive up and pop my trunk and they'd put the groceries in. I'm loyal to them because they're loyal to their customers even special ordering specific types of yogurt or coffee if I ask. Thanks John and everyone at LV Market! Love you all! read more

I love the convenience of this store and the fact that they carry prepared foods and interesting specialty items. However, my last experience with one of their female cashiers was horrendous. She was incredibly rude and could not muster up the civility to say hello, tell me the total cost of my items or say thank you. There was a total lack of basic customer service. The Locust Valley Market is truly a cute little supermarket in town. The atmosphere is quaint and the employees are as sweet as pie. Unfortunately, the quality of some of their products is way below average and is quite ashamed considering the prestige of the town. The Deli Counter offers "freshly made" items. If the items were freshly made, then maybe this review would be more positive. It is very clear in the appearance of the food that it is not made daily. I know that this market does not receive a lot of traffic, so maybe they should take that into consideration when preparing already-made-food for sale. In the theme of the market having too much food, I feel that maybe they should also order less produce items as well. I bought a package of raspberries a few times and they were molded. These items aren't flying off the shelves so they aren't always fresh either. I think that this market is very convenient and the employees make me smile. I would recommend this market for picking up small items like milk, juice, eggs, and/or cereal. If you need to do more than that, I recommend you hit Super Stop & Shop. Fresh, clean and always stocked!!! They make the most out of every inch of this store and yet it still seems big enough. I've never had more than 2 people in front of me and they only had a few items. The staff is overwhelmingly courteous and John the manager always aims to please. An absolute gem! read more

Love how easy it is to park here. The deli counter always has something interesting although I wonder how long their sushi has been out (my daughter who is keen on freshness said the crab was old) or how fresh it is (I don't see a sushi chef). I would highly recommend some sampling of cheeses and olives, like North Shore Farm does because it would probably enhance purchasing of a variety of cheeses!!!!
