What a nice area for live music even though it was cold. Good thing they had heaters and blankets. We had a bottle of red wine and just enjoyed the music and the view. They have a cool upstairs balcony area. I know they have a few rooms and I think it would be fun to spend the night and wake up to the beautiful views.

We spent two nights at Lodge 5600 in Pine Az. This was our first time visiting the area and stayed here because it was the host location for an event. The lodge is located at on the edge of the town of Pine. Simply beautiful, surrounding the forest. The Lodge has 8 rooms, 4 on the first floor and 4 on the second. No elevator. Our room # 3 had a King bed, fireplace, large bathroom with walk in shower, table and 2 side chairs. Also a mini refrigerator, microware and coffee pot. The room was clean and also had an outdoor patio with 2 chairs and view of the Mogollon Rim. Next door is a café that serves breakfast and lunch basically sandwiches. Parking is convenient with a lot across from the rooms.

    View from the upper patio.

My husband and I stayed at The Lodge at 5600for my birthday this year (2025) on June 1st. Our room was beautiful and well maintained. Very clean and comfortable. Lisa and Brian are wonderful hosts! The view from our upstairs room was breathtaking. The room itself is well stocked with everything you need. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, various bathroom toiletries and a coffee maker with cups and glasses as well. The lodge grounds are meticulously maintained and beautiful. They have a wonderful very large upstairs deck for enjoying the view and socializing. They have a boutique feel of the lodge makes it feel very homey and comfortable. Thank you Lisa and Brian for a wonderful experience!

Our room on the second floor was comfortable and had great views of the mountains to the south and west from our private balcony.

I can't rave enough about The Strawberry Inn. I've stayed here many times throughout the years and…read moreit is just the quintessential solo staycation spot, year round. In the winter, I love just staying in the main rooms or any of the cottages and decompressing, relaxing, staying warm. In the summer, it's the perfect area to go on some great hikes (I recommend Highline, Wildcat, and Fossil Creek of course). The rooms/airstreams are immaculate - with a truly relaxing, rejuvenating aesthetic. I've stayed in the queen and king rooms with couch, desk etc as well as the cottage and airstream which have more space and little kitchenettes perfect for making a small breakfast or reheating some leftovers. Service is really top tier- especially considering everything is hands-off, and there's no physic host/ess property manager on site- but Mike the Elk answers promptly and fulfills all reasonable requests to ensure your stay is just about perfect. Highly recommend coming here just for the inn alone- all of the other activities, restaurants and attractions will follow! @azfitfoodfun

We stayed in Airstream #4 and it was perfect. Very private and a nice view. There are some homes nearby but nothing super close. Loved the chairs, fire table, and the hot tub! Even had elk and deer walk right by the campsite while we were there, it's awesome! The inside of the Airstream was nice! Queen size bed, super comfy. Spacious enough with a couch and mini kitchen and fridge. Even had a TV and wifi. The bathroom does not have a door - so if you're coming with friends, beware! There is a Keurig too. I do wish the properties were spaced out from each other more. You are very close to the other rentals. Especially walking around. Saw tons of families so kids definitely could make the trip. You can easily walk up to Windmill Coffee or the PIEbar! Definitely recommend both. The communication with the staff and concierge was very easy and quick responses. We didn't have any issues during our stay. Truly felt like we were able to step away and be on our getaway. It's such a quiet and peaceful area. Couldn't recommend the Strawberry Inn more! We absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to come back!

We had had the venue booked since February 2020 and they did an awesome job of staying in contact and answering all the questions I had along the way. The property is BEAUTIFUL and the cabins were all stocked with the necessities and super clean! Of course, our wedding day was the only day of the week that there was expected to be thunderstorms...and there were! However, Rick went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable with the adjusted setup and did everything he could to make sure everything ran smoothly...it was perfect! The day after, their crews helped us clean up what wasn't cleaned up the night before and we were able to check out on time. Seriously, every person at the Cabins on Strawberry Hill is so kind, helpful, and understanding. 12/10 would recommend having your wedding here and don't worry if it rains..Rick has your back and it makes for some pretty epic photos! This place was not worth the money whatsoever. When we first checked in, I let the front desk agent…read moreknow that we had a service dog with us. No questions asked, she simply said okay. I had a really rough week, and so I booked a more expensive suite with a jacuzzi tub in it. Upon entering the room, we were impressed with the size, but quickly our optimism diminished.... the tub was gross. All of the grout around the tub had huge gaps and cracks where the grout was falling off into the tub. The toiletries were minimal. The shower had a shampoo and conditioner bottle attached to the wall, but no body soap and nothing to bathe in the tub with. I didn't bring toiletries, assuming these would be provided, so unfortunately I wasn't even able to utilize my upgrade. This was actually the least of my worries. We went to to pull out the sofa bed for my kids.... absolutely disgusting! There were huge yellow stains all over the mattress that looked like urine. Not even sure how this passed housekeeping standards. Photos attached. The room had a nasty smell, stains in the carpets and on the sofa, and overall just disgusting. The final straw was when I walked my small dachshund (registered service animal) downstairs to exit the lobby. I had my hands full of personal items, so my son was walking him on a leash. As we exited the lobby, there was a few guests downstairs, and my service animal barked a bit as we walked by. Nothing aggressive or unruley whatsoever! Simply a bark. My son was able to control him, and there was nothing to be concerned about. He wasnt pulling on the leash or charging at anyone, simply walking with my son towards the exit as he excitedly expressed a bark. The lobby agent rudely yelled "maam!! You cant have your dog in here!" I had my hands full and told her that id be right back to speak with her, and she continued to yell, "you cant have your dog in here! Whats your room number!!" At this point, is was offended by her actions and decided that I would take a few minutes to calm down rather than walk back inside. So, after about 20 minutes I called the front desk. I asked her how I would go about requesting a refund on my room, since we still had reservations through tomorrow. She rudely asked why and asked for my room number. I then told her I was the lady with the service animal, and that she rudely discriminated against me instead of asking the proper questions to determine IF my dog was a properly trained animal. Instead, she got extremely defensive and lied, telling me that my dog charged at the person in the lobby, and that there's no way my dog could ever be a service animal... um, no. This isn't how it works lady. You don't get to assume my dog isn't qualified. Nor do you have the right to lie and say my dog is aggressive when he clearly wasn't. She then said she has cameras, and I said great! I'd love to show your manager the footage to prove you wrong. What's your name? ... crickets..... okay, let me speak to your manager.... she hangs up. So, I call back. I instantly get an attitude, and am told that she's the front desk manager now. Okay, awesome! What's your name so that I can tell priceline who i spoke with to get a refund due to discrimination, unprofessional staff, and disgusting rooms... she refuses. Okay, what's your managers name? I need to speak with someone that can provide me with a name, someone who has the professional capabilities to speak with a concerned customer... again, hangs up. This is absolutely unacceptable!!! I have full documentation showing my animal is a fully trained service animal. My son is a diabetic, and my 3 year old dachshund has been through rigorous training to be a diabetic detection animal, that can show signs of alert when my son's blood sugar is at a risky level. Per law, I do not have to go into detail of my son's condition, nor do I need to show documentation, but this woman was completely unprofessional and discriminatory, and ive pursued a claim with corporate. I really hope she loses her job because I will NEVER stay at a choice hotel again

The cabin was nice although I do think there should be an investment in updating. None of our glasses matched and most were plastic tumbler type. Our cabin was for 4 and yes, there were 4 folks, 4 spoons and 4 knives only. A maybe 2 inch circular soap is what was available for both hand washing and bathing. Seems one of the sleeping areas is the living room on a sofabed. The parking area and area around the cabins is very well lit at night - some may have suitable curtains, ours did not but was not as issue for us. There was no information on the cabin, the area, the rules, etc in our cabin which would have been helpful - there also didn't appear to be any onsite assistance anywhere. This is also a dog friendly place although you have to keep them on leash at all time. There is no enclosed area. The biggest negative for me/family was the unevenness of the walkways around the cabin. There a number of dips in the roadway and parking area and it is a steep incline. The kids play area is on a hill and the paved portion is so steep you gain way too much speed walking straight down - gotta zig zag. We both agreed if you had walking difficulties or had a walker, it was going to be challenging to get around. If you are planning a trip, be sure the check the local establishments times. We did not and all in the immediate area were closed Monday-Wednesday - this may just be the time of year though don't know. Be sure to pack what you want/need - although only 20 miles or so to Payson, its a long 20 miles.
