Beautiful Cabin, spacious single cabin. Nice furniture, comfy bed but most of all very clean kitchen and bathroom! Nice porch and came with washer and dryer which is awesome! BBQ. Quiet and away from highway noise. The big fake white buffalo on the hill was hilarious. We walked out at night forgot about it and then jumped when we saw it Staff assistance readily available, professional, kind and courteous. Great communication! Wonderful. Will be sure to stay here again!

There are so many good things to say about Wooden Nickel Cabins (Cabin 4) not even sure where to start. My husband wanted me to put in for him as husband likes: Designated parking per cabin-asphalt parking lot A/C and heating were great Options for cooking indoors and outdoors Immediate hot water This is truly a home away from home, everything you need from dishes, glasses, coffee mugs, silverware, toaster, coffee pot (single use), wifi, super comfy bed. We ate all of our meals at the cabin and outside. 5 of the cabins back up directly to the Tonto National Forest with two access points to walk in and venture. In mid-September and during the rut you'll get to hear the elk bugling, what an awesome sound first thing in the morning :) Blackout curtains on the bedroom window and the sliding glass door. Cabin was super clean and so well designed and decorated, kudos to whomever decorated the cabin. Cabin is two story, main bed and bathroom downstairs, additional bed and bunk beds upstairs with small closet. There is even a pet/child gate at the bottom of the stairs that we used to keep our little dog from going upstairs. There's a porch swing out front at all the cabins, was very nice in the evenings and mornings to sit out and enjoy the outdoors. There's a small picnic table in the back, Adirondack chairs, extra folding chairs in the closet if needed. Fire pit, propane grill (has propane can), small charcoal grill too. In the living room is an adorable small gas fireplace (was too warm to use) but pilot is lit and ready to go. Strategically placed notes around to let you know what the password is for the wifi, how to turn on the shower (you'll understand when you get to your cabin), how to turn on the heater. There is a small game room, key is provided for you. Has 2 arcade games, one of them has 30 pages of games, a foosball game and a shuffleboard table, perfect for those with tweens and teens. My tip would be to book your cabin directly through them as this may save you some money vs using a third-party site. Their communication is top notch all the way through with emails and texts. This is our first time staying with Wooden Nickel Cabins and can definitely say we WILL be back! We stayed for two nights and glad we did to really enjoy the cabin. This is a mom-and-pop small owner operation and is nice to help out locals.

As someone whose work is extremely stressful and taxing on the mind and soul, I strongly recommend wooden nickel cabins nestled in the mountains of Christopher Creek near Payson as a fantastic place to unplug from the world and reconnect with nature and God. Payson is a wonderfully real, friendly, non-pretentious mountain community without the inane touristy bulls*** you find in other 'small mountain towns' that have been taken over by the beatnik, grapenuts, soy latte starbucks crowd. The cabins themselves are gorgeously appointed and comfortable for a couple or a family. The views are absolutely inspiring and the forest is quiet, peaceful and a welcome retreat from the insanity of metro Phoenix. 10/10"

She walked right out of the forest - so amazing!

WNC are truly a diamond found in the rough. The host and her assistant are by far the most welcoming and accommodating. My partner and I work nearly 60 hours a week and we spent a Thursday thru Sunday at the cabin for some well needed R & R. We hiked (2) nearby trails Horton and Derrick - we also drove to the Tonto Natural Bridge which was breathtaking. I would like to give WNC more that 5 stars if I could. If you are unsure or have doubts - you shouldn't! I hope my review helps anyone looking to stay...you wont be disappointed. We are already checking calendars for a 2021 Fall visit.

I was looking for a quiet place to get away by myself and a friend recommended Wooden Nickel Cabins. Thankfully they had a last minute cancellation and I ended up with a unit! I knew it would be a good trip when I was getting ready to leave for the 3pm check in and my phone rang at 11:30 and it was the owner letting me know they had an early check out so my cabin was ready & I could check in anytime. Try and get that service from a hotel! The cabins - they are situated pretty close together but it didn't bother me. I had an end unit and a family of 6 (with three teenagers) right next door, but it was still very peaceful. The inside has plenty of sleeping area if you want company. I can't comment on the sleeping loft because I never felt the need to go up there. The living room area is the smallest but easy seating for at least 4. There was a nice gas fireplace for warmth and an additional electric heater in the downstairs bedroom. The kitchen had a stovetop, microwave, fridge and plenty of plates, cups, etc. The back has a picnic table, 2 plastic chairs, a gas grill, a charcoal grill, and a fire pit. There is some wood on the front porch when has a 2 person swing and 2 chairs. My goal was to sit in the sun and read some books without any distractions. The porch swing was the best place to do that. If you are going with a party of more than 2, bring your camping chairs. It is worth mentioning that the chair in my living room had a hole in the arm and some of the furniture was clearly well loved. It didn't bother me, it's the middle of the woods! But if your looking for luxury, you might be disappointed. There was a play area, and horseshoes I believe, but I didn't check out that area. All in all, if you are looking for a reasonably priced quick get away this is your place. Off the beaten path but close enough to civilization with friendly proprietors.

Perfect cabin for a quick get away. It was clean and well stocked everything we need for a few days. Can't wait to get back.

Okay, this is a long one as I feel it's needed to actually feel the five star experience!…read more Majestic Mountain Inn, so cute! Family and I decided to take a night trip to Payson. Booked the room hours before arrival with only past experiences guiding my choices. We booked a queen room with two queen beds, photos showed a fireplace as well... I mean winter in Payson Az demands a fireplace... right? Done... booked... on our way. We arrived just before dinner. Once we pulled up, you see a quaint looking mountain hotel escape with one large two story building and several connecting little cottage looking rooms. The manager who checked us in (please forgive me for forgetting his name) had been very accommodating with our requests for more blankets and a lower level room. He also recommended the local pizza restaurant for dinner within walking distance. Our room was adorable and large! Two queen beds, a couch, fireplace and large vanity area with plenty of space for four. The beds were so comfortable and with the fireplace only, left us with a very cozy evening. Almost felt like you were in a secluded cabin in the woods. Also, I won't forget to mention, breakfast was included! Eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, biscuits, and gravy... so much to choose from. My husband has decided that this will be our "go-to" in Payson from now on. Thanks Majestic Mountain Inn for making our adventure more memorable! See you next time! I apologize for not having any Photos but we were too busy taking in the ambience of this town and making memories, I didn't even think to grab my phone.

The bed was comfortable. The pool was not clean and had lots of leaves on the bottom. Not well maintained. Has algae on the sides. Pleasantly surprised ...Stopped on my way to Saint Louis MO. The lady at the front desk was so nice…read moreand polite too. Would never stay at a Best Western Hotel BUT REALLY HAD NO CHOICE... Everything was So Clean and very nice too... I highly recommend this Hotel... Thank you for you Service... I would definitely stay here again. PS FYI, lifetime member of the Ritz Carlton.

This place was not worth the money whatsoever. When we first checked in, I let the front desk agent…read moreknow that we had a service dog with us. No questions asked, she simply said okay. I had a really rough week, and so I booked a more expensive suite with a jacuzzi tub in it. Upon entering the room, we were impressed with the size, but quickly our optimism diminished.... the tub was gross. All of the grout around the tub had huge gaps and cracks where the grout was falling off into the tub. The toiletries were minimal. The shower had a shampoo and conditioner bottle attached to the wall, but no body soap and nothing to bathe in the tub with. I didn't bring toiletries, assuming these would be provided, so unfortunately I wasn't even able to utilize my upgrade. This was actually the least of my worries. We went to to pull out the sofa bed for my kids.... absolutely disgusting! There were huge yellow stains all over the mattress that looked like urine. Not even sure how this passed housekeeping standards. Photos attached. The room had a nasty smell, stains in the carpets and on the sofa, and overall just disgusting. The final straw was when I walked my small dachshund (registered service animal) downstairs to exit the lobby. I had my hands full of personal items, so my son was walking him on a leash. As we exited the lobby, there was a few guests downstairs, and my service animal barked a bit as we walked by. Nothing aggressive or unruley whatsoever! Simply a bark. My son was able to control him, and there was nothing to be concerned about. He wasnt pulling on the leash or charging at anyone, simply walking with my son towards the exit as he excitedly expressed a bark. The lobby agent rudely yelled "maam!! You cant have your dog in here!" I had my hands full and told her that id be right back to speak with her, and she continued to yell, "you cant have your dog in here! Whats your room number!!" At this point, is was offended by her actions and decided that I would take a few minutes to calm down rather than walk back inside. So, after about 20 minutes I called the front desk. I asked her how I would go about requesting a refund on my room, since we still had reservations through tomorrow. She rudely asked why and asked for my room number. I then told her I was the lady with the service animal, and that she rudely discriminated against me instead of asking the proper questions to determine IF my dog was a properly trained animal. Instead, she got extremely defensive and lied, telling me that my dog charged at the person in the lobby, and that there's no way my dog could ever be a service animal... um, no. This isn't how it works lady. You don't get to assume my dog isn't qualified. Nor do you have the right to lie and say my dog is aggressive when he clearly wasn't. She then said she has cameras, and I said great! I'd love to show your manager the footage to prove you wrong. What's your name? ... crickets..... okay, let me speak to your manager.... she hangs up. So, I call back. I instantly get an attitude, and am told that she's the front desk manager now. Okay, awesome! What's your name so that I can tell priceline who i spoke with to get a refund due to discrimination, unprofessional staff, and disgusting rooms... she refuses. Okay, what's your managers name? I need to speak with someone that can provide me with a name, someone who has the professional capabilities to speak with a concerned customer... again, hangs up. This is absolutely unacceptable!!! I have full documentation showing my animal is a fully trained service animal. My son is a diabetic, and my 3 year old dachshund has been through rigorous training to be a diabetic detection animal, that can show signs of alert when my son's blood sugar is at a risky level. Per law, I do not have to go into detail of my son's condition, nor do I need to show documentation, but this woman was completely unprofessional and discriminatory, and ive pursued a claim with corporate. I really hope she loses her job because I will NEVER stay at a choice hotel again
