This place is gorgeous and rustic. Such a perfect, picturesque Maine getaway. We stayed in the…read morerooms next to the restaurant, and it was such a fabulous spot! We actually were able to get a wifi and sporadic 3g signal from out on the patio there. In the morning, we sat out in the chairs just outside our door and listened to the lighthouse foghorn off in the distance and the low rumble of the early morning fishing boats humming around the cove. Our room also had a television and was very spacious for our family of four (I had my two young children with me). Suzen is simply delightful. She truly enjoys cooking, and has taken it upon herself to fix up this place after it was in rough shape before she took it over. She's done a remarkable job. If you're looking for the Ritz, this may not be your place. This is Maine at it's core. Rugged, rustic, beautiful and raw. This is a place we hope to return to every summer.

The rooms were charming the views spectacular and the sounds of the fishing boats heading out to see or returning really take you away Cabins and cottages are large and spacious, while rustic they were well furnished we even had a fireplace. Suzen was lovely and accommodating we will definitely return with more friends. And wow can she cook! staff was also warm and friendly Watch the cakes and deserts they are simply out of this world, and you can't beat the fresh seafood of maine, unless her husband Brad brings it off the boat that morning!!

Les greeted us and took the time to show us to our room on the third floor telling us all about the history of the property on the way. Someone complained in another review that there are stairs up to the third floor. It is true. They are wooden, steep, and full of character. The floors are original and slope and creak as expected, but are beautifully painted and well kept. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was perfect, looking like it was remodeled yesterday. Since we realized there was not going to be a lot of dining choices, we stopped at a grocery on our way in for a light picnic dinner of cheese, crackers, fruit and a bottle of wine to enjoy by the water. It was a perfect evening to watch the sunset on one of the two waterfront areas on the property. It was only my husband and me. We could see another couple sitting on the rocks, but it still felt so private and it truly felt like something out of a romantic movie. The next morning we enjoyed the best blueberry muffins provided by the host and coffee on the front porch of the inn. As we sat looking down toward the water both a deer and a red fox came through the yard as a humming flew around the beautiful flowers. Every staff member we encountered was friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. I almost want to keep this gem a secret!

We stayed in the Monhegan suite, which had two bright, airy rooms with a lovely view. We had a lovely evening walk around the beautiful property, and such a peaceful night's sleep. We even received a (handwritten!) kind thank you note from the owners when we returned home, which was such a lovely touch.

Friendly competent and welcoming. The hotel lobby, kitchen area, pool, work out room, laundry and whirlpool is kept spotless. The rooms are very spacious and have all you need to cook clean and be comfortable. The breakfast is more than the usual inedible items of the day and edible staples. All the food put out is great, as is the breakfast staff.

There is plenty of parking both public and private (behind a key activated gate) and it's FREE. The lobby is very clean and staff is very friendly. I was able to get approved for a late checkout which is helpful as we are attending the PBR event next door at the Cross Insurance Center. The convenience of being able to walk to any venue at the center is very convenient and worth the costs. I got a king bed suite which has plenty of room and a pull out couch. Bathrooms are huge with plenty of lighting and our room had an oversized walk-in shower. Pressure and water temp were great and I didn't feel like I didn't have any room to move around. Bed is comfortable and like most places the pillows are "eh", where I typically have to stack a couple to get comfortable for me to sleep. The little kitchen has everything you need to cook a small meal for your family if you choose to. Ice maker is built into the freezer making it easy to produce ice without having to walk down a long hallway to find the ice machine. It's full size refrigerator in the suite so we ordered Walmart delivery to bring some snacks and drinks to the room. The Hollywood Casino is located across the street and there is plenty of restaurants and shopping within 2-3 miles of the area. If you are attending an event at the Cross Insurance Center, I would highly recommend that you stay at the Residence Inn both for convenience and comfort. The Timber Kitchen and Bar is located within the hotel but also accessible from outside the hotel. Read about my review with them that you won't want to miss. Overall, I had a great experience and I would stay here again if we attend any events at the Cross Insurance Center, both for the proximity to the venue, but also because I can keep my car parked for free at the hotel.
