We came out to Bar Harbor for a night and stayed in Southwest Harbor at this motel and it was the best decision! Southwest Harbor is quieter, charming, amazing views, food and people. We loved our stay here! Our check in was seamless and Teresa was so sweet. We used the EV charger (free for guest) overnight which was huge for our Tesla. We walked across the street three times to the rock beach to take in the views. Breakfast was delicious and the company was even better. We hope to come back for many years to come! read more

Amazing views a short walk away, the sunrise was incredible. You can see the water through the windows even at the very end of the motel, which is great. The room and the grounds are clean and well maintained and the staff are friendly and accommodating. Lots of wildlife around. A great deal if you're in the area. read more

We stayed one night. I really like this place. When I first get a room in a hotel or motel, the first thing I do is check the bathroom. It was immaculate. The rest of the room was also very clean. It was so relaxing being lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean. I had interaction with two of the employees. Both were very nice. I plan to return. Tip: try to get a room on the second floor. The ocean view better from that vantage point. read more

I'm very pleased that I perservered with my annoying online search and found the Seawall Motel. It was on the part of the island that I wanted--the side away from the souvenir stands and cuteness of Bar Harbor and close to the water and the stars. Carly (I sure hope I got her name right) was very helpful before and after I arrived. She made me feel welcome and made my stay nice an easy. The room I had was clean and quiet. Nothing fancy, but if you're going to Acadia you're an idiot if you spend all your time in the hotel room. Also, when you stay at the Seawall you're very close--walking distance--to Peter Trout's Tavern, which has superb food. read more

Stayed here for few nights for our Acadia national park expedition. Overall, our stay was pleasant. Our room was clean. The morning breakfast had your typical bagels, cereal, english muffin, hard boiled eggs, tea and coffee. The staff was nice and accommodating. read more

I have come annually to this motel for about 22 years. It is currently under new ownership. They have changed the rules about allowing pets. If you bring an animal (cats not allowed only dogs under 75 pounds) you will be sent to the worst room in the hotel and you will be charged more than twice the amount of someone who would have just left their dog in the car. There was no indication of these severe new restrictions when I booked the reservation and was made to move out of the best room in the hotel which I booked after I had unpacked and was hounded down for more money, twice. Fee after fee after fee. Needless to say it is just not the same family friendly place it used to be which is disappointing because I really loved the old owners and their compassion and kindness. Not this new owner who punishes people with pets even when they do NO damage. read more

We didn't stay here as guests, but we stopped by to charge our EV and wanted to leave a review on the friendly staff and great location. Although the EV charger is for guests, they let us use it for a small fee. The staff was extremely friendly and the inside of the motel was cozy and inviting. The location is excellent -- Charlotte's Lobster Pound is just up the round, the Seawall is a beautiful area, and the motel is very close to the ocean. Would love to return as guests and are grateful for the service we received while charging our car. read more

Stayed here early August 2019. One of the few places that wasn't booked for the night. Mom and pop style motel. Nice people- pretty well maintained, fresh paint inside, everything looked clean. Complaints? No refrigerator, no microwave, room smelled musty and a tad damp (as if the carpets had been shampooed but not dried). Biggest complaint? NO AIR CONDITIONERS!!! None!! They give you a fan, so you have to leave your windows open to get fresh/cool air. At a motel??? With people walking by your door/windows all night long? With smokers 50' away so you can smell their cigarettes all night? All this for $142 a night?? Mmmm. Nice people, but I won't be back. read more

I've been going to the Seawall Motel for as long as I can remember. This spot is absolutely magical and almost spiritual in a way. Get away from everything and just enjoy some time without any hustle and bustle and let your troubles blow away with the wonderful ocean air. The rooms and the motel are always ALWAYS clean and well maintained and Dave and Vicki are two of the best people you will ever meet. It IS mandatory that you stop and talk with them in the office or out on the grounds. It's worth it. Breakfast has lots of options and the coffee is amazing. Anything you could need or want and they will always have the urgency to make sure you have anything you need. If you are looking for great places to shop and lots of people DON'T GO HERE. You'll hate the peaceful quiet serenity that would allow you to completely cleanse your soul an fully recharge your batteries (so to speak) This location is unique in that there are 5 different ecosystems all meeting in one area and all the inhabitants compete for resources but somehow manage to coexist. Friendly, helpful staff, killer location on the "quiet side " of MDI, reasonable rates, decent breakfast (good coffee ), uber clean ... Really, the only flaw is the construction; if your neighbors don't yak into the night you'll have a great stay. It was built before the current owners got it, so thin walls and creaky floors are not their fault. I'd return even being sensitive to noise. But can't give five stars due to that shortcoming. read more

Quiet, comfortable, clean, and a great location. Staff was very friendly. The continental breakfast was nice - bagels, toast, cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc. Definitely the least expensive place you can stay with this kind of fabulous beach access (rocky and full of tide pools, which was what we were after). Short drive to Southwest Harbor or Bass Harbor for dinner, or for groceries for a picnic in your room. Would absolutely come back. read more

We rolled into Southwest Harbor at about 9:30pm and had forgotten to call before making the 13 hour drive up. The owners, Dave and Vickie were very nice. They gave us a room and we're the nicest people I had ever met. The room was nice. Very clean with satellite TV. The motel was right on the Atlantic Ocean. The area was very quiet. They have an awesome office cat named Speedbump. There is a lot of fan art hanging in the office. Apparently people love Speedbump. The next morning, my girlfriend and I walked down to the office and, Dave, one of the owners, had made us some fresh coffee and laid out some bagels for us. He also left us a note telling my girlfriend that they wish her a happy birthday. We hung out in the office with him for about an hour, just talking about the island and what made him move out here. We stayed for 3 nights. One day it snowed a foot and we were stuck in our motel room while Dave plowed the parking lot. The room was comfortable enough so we really didn't mind being stuck. Dave and Vickie were always super nice to us. They made us feel like friends, rather than customers. We loved our visit, loved Speedbump, Dave, and Vickie, and we loved our room. We will definitely be back and I will definitely be recommending this place to anybody heading up to the Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park region. read more

My husband found this place on another site. It had such great reviews, I couldn't believe it had no yelp reviews. So here is mine: There are some places that are worth the expense and then there are those places that are worth the inexpense. If that makes sense to you, then you probably spend too much money, like me! Anyway, I was skeptical, but my husband was sure it was going to be great and it was. The motel sits right off the ocean, so the view is great. Its rooms span the width of the motel, so you can open windows on both sides of your rooms to get a nice sea breeze flowing. The room was decorated very "motel like", but I'm ok with that as long as I am comfortable. The bed was firm and the bedding soft. We slept very well. The shower was hot and there was plenty of room for two people to move about (some places are so small I start pushing my poor hubby around). The breakfast was also good! Choices of cereal, yogurt, and breads. Good coffee and fruit. Also, the individuals who work here are very friendly and there is a pet cat at the motel. His name is Speed Bump and he tolerated my petting with grace. Just watch out for him because we caught him laying near the parking area. If we are ever in Maine again, we will definitely stay here!! read more

We were in Maine for a week on an Artist Residency at the Barns Art Collective. They accommodated a troupe of 8 with ease. We arrived close to midnight and I had no idea until I woke up and opened the door to my room the next morning that we were ON the water. It's a stunning location. Far enough from the main town that you feel surrounded by nature, close enough that everything is in great walking distance for a comfortable stroll anywhere. Breakfast every morning was very handy as we ran out for a full day of workshopping. Dave's storytelling was an ABSOLUTE TREAT! Don't leave without getting some kind of a tale from him. Vicky was so accommodating and caring. They had so many staff members that treated us very well. Mary was a secret favourite of mine! It really felt like we were staying with family by the end of the week. It ended in hugs from all of us and promises to return! read more

Nice quiet area, clean rooms and clean air, fog rolling in, did I say quiet, away from the maddening crowds of Bar Harbor. Paper thin walls, can hear others snore depending on which room you are in but they owners are very accommodating and can be moved if you wants. Continental Breakfast isn't that good. No eggs, only some wrapped muffins and mini bagels with cheap yogurt. Coffee is undrinkable, watery. Had to spend $30 a day for breakfast and coffee elsewhere. But the price per night if very cool, so it's not that bad. No fridge in the room but it does have a common fridge with ice maker and some vending machines with laundry so that's nice. The place is far from everything so that can be a plus or a minus, again no fridge so think about that in terms of planning. There is self parking so it is easy if you drive. They have portable foam coolers which is very nice because you can basically go out for bbq at the picnic area down the street, 5 minute walk right on the ocean. Did I mention that the stars you can see from here, it's very amazing. read more

Only stayed here one night, but would definitely return. I prefer to stay in Southwest Harbor when hiking in Acadia as Bar Harbor is too crowded. I took a chance on this place as the place I stayed last year was full. What a nice surprise! Sure, it's just a motel, but the rooms are clean, good size, comfortable. Great hot water with excellent pressure. Owners and whoever works in the office are the nicest of people. I left my phone charger in the room and they called me immediately and are mailing it to me. We didn't stay for breakfast, but it looked very good with a lot of variety and plenty of healthy options. Location is just beautiful across from the ocean. They even have a large communal fridge, microwave, and laundry and have coolers for guests to borrow. I didn't hear any noise from neighbors so can't speak to the comment about thin construction.
