We wanted to just love this place, but there were enough little problems to only rate it 3 stars. Parking is a HUGE problem. There are a limited amount of spaces in front with zero room to maneuver your car to fit in a space. There is a public lot right next door for a fee and hopefully you'll get a space. We were in the Waterfront King Suite. The room was lovely and had a great view!! However, getting hot water was inconsistent. We had noisy neighbors who we could hear using the hairdryer at 6:42am, and shouting down the hall and slamming their door at 7:30am. At 10:45pm there were sounds like chairs being dragged over hardwood for about 30 minutes. They do give you an opportunity to order breakfast that is delivered to your room and a time you specify. However, both days I had rancid milk for my coffee. I wrote a note to the staff after the first morning, and they served spoiled milk to me again on the second morning!! The food was also vastly under seasoned. I ordered the quinoa bowl both days and got two totally different dishes. And, my wife's potatoes were completely burnt. So for the money we spent on the room, I cannot recommend this place due to parking, noise, and food quality. read more

This hotel did not live up to its online reputation. Maybe they have staffing challenges in this part of the world...but who doesn't? Maybe pay more to folks. First off, the front desk would go 15-30 minutes without being staffed. This made it particularly difficult when we needed something - I sat across from the desk for 15 minutes at one point - but that's not enough to warrant a negative review. In fact, I waited this morning to convey this message in person, but the only people in the lobby were customers waiting for help. What does warrant a review is our breakfast foul up. This may sound like a minor issue, however in the world of customer service it absolutely is not. Here's what happened: the hotel provides breakfast in the room. We had two rooms. My daughter mistakenly put my room number on her breakfast card, so they delivered both breakfasts to my room. Only they didn't deliver both COMPLETE breakfasts - they only delivered a portion of the breakfasts. When we inquired about the mixup, we were shown our cards - no apology, only a hint of "here's where the fault lies, and it's with you." However, no one bothered to ask us before delivering an incomplete breakfast as to whether this was actually what we wanted (and bear in mind, this is not a big hotel). After that, there were a series of further mixups before staff actually sorted things out and got complete breakfasts to our rooms. I don't have a big problem with the mixup. I do have a problem with the reaction and the confused resolution. However, the blame here is not on the staff: it's on ownership. It's very clear that at critical points of the day, the hotel has a real staffing issue. It's also clear that ownership hasn't adequately trained staff on "Customer Service 101." The poor worker was clearly frazzled and could use some training and some help. As a result, this hotel did not earn the premium it charges. read more

The hotel has a majestic view with private room balconies and has a real feeling of luxury. Delicious chocolate chip cookies in the lobby too. My only gripe is the breakfast was really bad - they didn't communicate in advance what the offering was and was surprised to be delivered a cold quiche that really wasn't edible. read more

this place specializes in scams to the consumer when they charge a $50 cancellation fee for a reservation that was booked six months in advance of the reservatioN which was booked in April for an October reservation, and cancelled two weeks after the reservation was made. read more

One of the nicest place I have ever stayed in my life. The staff is courteous and there for your every need. The rooms look out onto Camden harbor. Enjoyed a cup of coffee in the morning while watching the boats. I loved how it was right in the heart of downtown and we could walk to everything. read more

I would never stay there again. The staff is terrible. We spent $850 for one night's stay, walked around town a bit in the morning, and went back to the hotel about noon to use the restroom and leave. When we got to the hotel, the girl at the front desk said there was no restroom available. We asked if we couldn't use our room, and she said it was after 11:00 which was checkout, so no, we couldn't use the room. When we asked if we could use the lobby restroom, she said they had no lobby restroom. When we asked if we could please use the restroom the staff must use, she told us no, the staff restroom is only for staff. When we pointed out that we had just spent $850 at the hotel and believed the hotel should let us use the restroom, she became snotty and told us to go down the street and around the corner to use the public restroom. Decide for yourself if that's the kind of hotel you want to stay at. read more

One of the very best hotels I have ever had the pleasure of sleeping in. Staff was excellent and the rooms had every amenity you could ever want. It was comfortable, elegant and luxurious. We stayed here three night and it was hard to leave. We had a view, 2 rooms, great TV, wi-fi, breakfast brought to the room and sumptuous beds. Plus maid service. There may be no place like home but there's nothing like luxury either. read more

What a great hotel! The Grand Harbor is magnificently located on Camden Harbor, literally within footstep of the ships, restaurants, etc. The room worked very well for us because it had a separate area with a pullout sofa. That gave us enough room to be comfortable, while still respecting our family privacy. The balcony overlooked the water--what a great way to wake up. While we did not bring our dog with us on this trip, it was clear that we could have. The Grand Harbor (and Camden overall) is very dog friendly. We'll think about bringing our four footed friend next time. Although the Grand Harbor does not have its own restaurant, it does serve breakfast each morning. Besides, with a very good restaurant right in the building (Bay View Lobster) and several others right outside the door, we certainly did not feel like we were missing anything. I can speak for the whole family--The Grand Harbor Inn gets thumbs up all around. read more

Absolutely the best place to stay. The staff was friendly and greeted us with prosciutto upon check in. In our room was chocolate covered strawberries and another bottle of chilled prosciutto. The room was beautiful with a great view. The bathroom was nice with a large tub and glass shower. The location to shops and restaurants is convenient. Would highly recommend. read more

This is simply the very best Inn I have ever stayed at. Every thing about it is great. Location is right on the water. The Breakfast in Bed is fabulous. The bathrooms have jacuzzi tubs and seven shower head, huge walk in showers. Sitting room, balcony, very, very good king size beds. There is not a detail they missed, from excellent linens, towels and toiletries, complimentary water in the refrigerator, to great selection of Keurig coffee place pods. My husband and 5 year old daughter stayed at this beautiful hotel. We had so much fun in the town of Camden and The Grand Harbor Inn is definitely the place to stay while you are there. The Suite we stayed in, room 1, was absolutely gorgeous. It has a seperate living room with a sofa bed and a fireplace between the living room and master bedroom. The bathroom is 5 star all the way. The detail that has gone into the decorating of this room is impeccable. The bathroom had black washcloths imprinted with "Makeup" on them to ensure that makeup doesn't get onto the white towels. We were thoroughly impressed by this hotel in many ways and wish we lived closer so we could visit again. The staff was so friendly and helpful and everyone's goal seemed to have been to make sure that our stay there was as good as it could be. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. read more

I've stayed at the Grand Harbor Inn twice and both times were awesome experiences. Highlights include in-room gas fireplaces, fantastic bathrooms with radiant heat floors, plentiful in-room amenities, and exceptional service from the hotel staff. The interior decor of the rooms is not really my style but I happily overlook that given the many other positives of the property. On my first trip I stayed in the Waterview Grand Suite which gives you a nice view of Camden Harbor even though it's not technically one of the waterfront rooms (it also provides an unparalleled view of the parking lot.) Most recently I booked the Waterfront Grand Suite (room #1) which truly does offer the best view of the harbor. Nice touches in the rooms include Keurig machines, Blu-ray players, an abundance of conveniently located electrical outlets, great towels and robes, a wonderful shower with separate jacuzzi tub, and adjustable lighting throughout. An in-room breakfast is included and typically consists of a slice of quiche, yogurt parfait, coffee, juice, and pastry. Turn down service is a great little luxury touch. Considering the GHI shares its small parking lot with several boutiques and restaurants, we never had trouble parking. Upon check-in you're provided a pass for your dashboard allowing you to park anywhere in the lot, even in front of the other businesses. The location can't be beat and is convenient to all downtown Camden has to offer. read more

I spent ten days at this hotel and it was an absolutely great semi-vacation - I was able to do some work due to the wireless internet access throughout the inn. The other reviewers did not mention the Blu-Ray player with internet access available in the room. In addition to playing your Bue-Ray dvd, these players will allow you to access Hulu, play instant Netflix movies (make sure to deactivate the device when you are done). My little terrier loved this dog friendly inn as much as his human companions. Other reviewers have mentioned the staff and cleanliness but I think it bears repeating that you will be delighted and you will feel right at home. read more

I know this has already been said, but this is by far the nicest hotel in Camden and frankly one of the nicest places I've stayed anywhere. I've also stayed in the Camden Harbour Inn and the Lord Camden Inn (this hotel's sister) during two other trips to Camden. We stayed here November 2012 and can't speak highly enough about it. The rooms were amazing with the gas fireplace, big beautiful bathroom with heated marble floors, jacuzzi tub, big shower with bod spray shower heads. We had a room with a balcony that was maybe 20 feet from the water? Incredible. Also, the staff is very friendly and you get a very filling complementary breakfast delivered to your room. The breakfast consisted of a quiche, pastry, yogurt with granola and fresh fruit, juice and coffee. It's really hard to find anything to complain about. The location is great, there is also a fridge, microwave, and complementary Keurig machine with k-cups in the room. Gun to my head I would say I wish you could customize your breakfast a little bit, e.g. choose the quiche, but really I'm grasping at straws. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

My friend and I stayed here last week for two nights and were very pleased with our luxurious rooms. We had #7 with two queens one night and enjoyed our balcony with its partial harbor view. This is a large suite with a fabulous bathroom and a sitting area with a sofa bed that can be closed off if needed. The next night we had #9 with a king bed and although it overlooks the entrance to the inn and has a partial harbor view, we were lucky as the restaurant across from us is closed on Tuesdays. This room also had a sofa bed and could be closed off. Staff was very friendly and helpful and gracefully handled our special dietary needs for our delicious breakfast tray. Loved having our own Keurig, also. Although costly, this is the nicest place to stay and worth it. Great first visit to Camden! read more

This is by far the best place I've ever stayed in. The rooms are beautiful with a fireplace that can be enjoyed from either the sitting room or the bedroom. The breakfast is delicious served with fresh made granola and yogurt and excellent pastries. The bathroom is something out of my dreams. The shower is huge with multiple heads and the hot water is never ending. The jacuzzi tub is perfection. The bathroom floor has radiant heat that is just the icing on the cake. I've stayed here twice both times in the winter. Once wee were snowed in and it was the best ever mini vacation I have ever had. They even place the most delightful chocolates on your pillow at the turn down service made by a local chocolatier. I would give this place ten stars if I could. It is well worth the expense. I would recommend this inn and I hope to stay here again. read more

If you are staying in Camden this is the place to stay. The accommodations are as good as it gets. The location is right on the harbor and the views from the balcony are great. the staff is very friendly and the ownership handled a small problem we had right away and took very good care of us. This is THE place to stay in Camden, between the great views, large upscale bedroom/bathroom & location convenient to everything, this was the highlight of our trip to Maine. Wish we had extended our stay in Camden just to stay here. Upon entering the facility, as well as our room- all throughout it smelled new, clean and fresh. This inn is lovely - the rooms are beautiful and quite comfortable. The shower was outstanding. The only reason I wouldn't give this property five stars is because both mornings I stayed there the carafe of coffee arrived cold and the breakfast was mediocre. In particular, the yogurt was room temperature and overly sweet. I was also surprised that such a high scale establishment wouldn't have real milk or half and half with the coffee. Otherwise, the staff and the property itself were great and I enjoyed my stay. read more

I have traveled to numerous hotels, inns, and resorts over my numerous years........(I'm over 60) and have never experienced the luxury, cleanliness and service provided at this Inn. I wanted to take my husband on a surprise get away. I chose a three night mini vacation during the 'off season' making this extremely affordable. The Inn is located in the picturesque town of Camden, Maine, overlooking it's harbor. A complimentary breakfast is included in the cost of the rooms. Also, each room has it's own private balcony, most including table and chairs. I called ahead of time to request a room overlooking the harbor, and spoke to a very polite and experienced young man. He gave me the email address of the inns manager, (Eric), and encouraged me to write him. I received a welcome note the next day, stating that we were being relocated directly overlooking the harbor. On top of that, we were given numerous extras; complimentary turn town service, chocolates, wine and two long stem roses, rose petals on our bed and floor as well as complimentary free upgrade, if available. Though the upgrade was not available, there was a hand written letter waiting for us on the desk along with a plate of candy. I can't imagine anything better than what we had, as our room was already a suite; living room, large bedroom with king size bed with luxurious bedding, a fireplace that could be seen from either the living room or bedroom. The marble bathroom had two sinks, a deep soaking whirlpool tub as well as a separate marble shower with numerous shower heads and other luxuries; extra large towels, heated floor, all the toiletries one could hope for and more. Our first time in Camden and staying at the Grand Harbor Inn. Booked it on a whim for a quick weekend getaway and could not be happier that we did. To start the front desk staff was friendly and greeted us with a glass of preseco and check-in was very easy. The room was exactly as pictured and was perfect for us. The room and bathroom were immaculate, very clean, organized and well decorated. The fireplace heated the room well and was a beautiful touch. The rain shower was nice and the heated floor is a luxury I will miss at home. The spa tub was very relaxing, it is also very quiet when it's running, which is nice if you're running it late night or early morning. Staff was very friendly, gave us food recommendations and were even able to accommodate our late check-out request. The Inn is right on the harbor and has a lot of restaurants within walking distance. I would give it more stars if I could. If you are looking for a romantic couples getaway or just a nice b&b in Maine I would absolutely recommend Grand Harbor Inn. read more
