It's a few doors down from Blue Bottle and offers a quaint outdoor seating area to drink in the sun's Vitamin D rays beneath the patio umbrellas. You might've seen their mobile bakery food truck by farmers markets in Torrance and Mar Vista or around Culver City with their signature, artisanal loaves, pastries, and giant cinnamon rolls. After all, they're known for their daily, freshly-baked breads like the Seeded Grain, Country Sourdough (it's naturally-leavened), Jerusalem Bagel loaf, crusty Baguettes, and a Brioche Challah that's specially baked on Fridays. You can find a variety of deli favorites, avocado toast, salads, and shakshuka on their menu. At its core, Lodge is a fusion of classic bakery goods meets Middle Eastern heritage. It was an okay breakfast place but nothing special. Food was pretty average, nothing really stood out, and it didn't feel worth going out of the way for. My breakfast sandwich was flavorful. The sesame brioche bread was so light and perfectly toasted. My over easy egg was overcooked but it worked out fine. My friend said it was the best sandwich she ever had. That was only 1 bite in. She loved the homemade jam and ricotta toast. She devoured it and the apologized for not offering a bite. I was so full from my sandwich I didn't notice. The sausage roll is a new item. Bread was flaky and perfectly crispy. Sausage had a kick! I tried a piece after I had my breakfast sandwich so I'll try the rest later. Not my fave. Cashier was super friendly and patient since it was our first time. Very helpful and understanding in explaining all the choices. It's pretty much a self serve restaurant. Asked for a refill and an additional cup of water and it took a minute. Asked for a to go box and never got it. There is no seating inside. Probably only 6 people max fit to wait in line inside. There's plenty of tables outside with large umbrellas. Lots of trees so there's debris on the table and chairs. Chairs are horribly uncomfortable metal chairs. Table legs are so narrow my knees didn't fit. The restaurant is in a crowded strip mall at the end. Parking could be difficult. Located in Woodland Hills so there's a small window that you can actually eat there. This spot is an upper scale bakery in Woodland Hills that bakes some of the best croissants in LA. They make croissants out of sourdough and they are nothing short of amazing. A perfect combo of savory and sweet notes, with incredible texture of perfectly crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. The bakery offers multiple croissant options, but I prefer mine plain, so I can really savor the flavor of their amazing sourdough. I also order their hot latte to complement my croissant and head straight to their tree covered patio to enjoy my food. Lodge bread has so many different options to choose from and you know whatever you choose will have the highest quality ingredients! The parking lot can be a bit tricky depending on the day and time. You order at the register and then they bring it to you. There is no seating indoors but plenty of seating outside. While I love it, I feel like the price is a bit too steep with the 4% charge to support the employees. I think it is great and very important to support their employee's wellbeing but it should be the company doing that already. Their prices are steep as it is so it should be built in to that. I've been going to lodge bread for over 5 years this places is definitely one of my top picks for an amazing sandwich or even just a loaf. The service here is quick lines go by fast and you'll always find a table even during Sunday brunch hours. Even from opening this places has a line of people ready for their fix. We ordered a couple of their sandwiches--the pastrami was good not great and the egg bacon sandwich was tasty. The bread for the egg and bacon sandwich was fluffy and tender but the bread for the pastrami was not as enjoyable. The environment is nice on the patio. As for some details, this plaza is run by metropolis parking so don't forget to scan the QR code. Lodge is in the back of the area and they have outdoor dining--the sandwiches took a bit of time to come out but nothing excessive. I will say that the tables are very small. Pictured you can see one of my legs fits comfortably where two legs are meant to be. Of course I have large legs but I am saddened by the continual move to uncomfortable small chairs that dig into your glutes, hips, and thighs. I know it helps restaurants turn the tables over quicker but just uncomfortable. We got water from the container and it tasted like straight up fabuloso, LOL. When we asked about it they clearly were deflecting and saying something vague. FANTASTIC! I have come here so many times, it might even be my third space. It's casual, yet cute and so delectable. Nothing here feels greasy or fast, all the food feels very intentional and made with love. Some of my favorites: egg salad sandwich, tuna sandwich, breakfast sandwich, pastrami sandwich. Love the shakshuka! We were in the neighborhood and wanted to grab a quick bite last weekend, and I can now say we have a new spot to start the weekend right. It has a tiny interior, you order at the front, and there's a good sized outdoor seating area. Service is pretty fast as well. One of the best shakshukas we've ever had! Just so good. You really must treat yourself to a great brunch whenever possible. The chai latte and veggie sammy were also pretty good. Will definitely be back. One thing to note: I'd really like them to be more cautious with the toothpicks, as one still had its plastic wrapping and ended up inside the sandwich. Bread Only Review: if you're not a breadhead, this review isn't for you. I didn't try coffee drinks or pastries or pies or even sandwiches. I'm about the bread, and Lodge is good at it. Very good. It's really sad that a place called Lodge BREAD has hundreds of reviews that don't mention it. I ordered two breads, a pretty straightforward T85 (medium extraction) sourdough that was expertly made, with a moderate open and regularly shaped and distributed crumb. The crust was not too thick, but crisp and blistered as it should be. They clearly use a young starter, as the acetic acid was not too forward and balanced nicely with the sweet and nutty flour. The ancient grains bread was excellent as well. It showed the signs of less aggressively strong gluten and had a nicely tender crumb, but the seeds, though delicious, overwhelmed the flavor of the bread for me. That's not a complaint, just a personal preference. I did try to ask some questions about the bread on a tech level and I was informed that the baker was not at the bakery. I have a feeling they regionalize production, but if you want honest, authentic artisan sourdough, this is the best I've found in LA with the exception of Tartine. Good bread. read more

My usual go-to at Lodge is the ricotta and seasonal jam toast, but today I was craving a runny egg and the guy at the register recommended the avocado toast with a runny egg on top. It did not disappoint! The radish added some nice crunch, and the olive oil and lemon juice added great flavor, and of course the runny egg was the perfect umami on top. When I saw Lodge Bread on Yelp and everything looked so appealing, I just had to visit. My friend and I arrived around 10:15am. The place itself is aesthetically appealing. It is located in the center next to Blue Bottle Coffee. Because we had never been there before, we were looking at the menu and admiring the loaves of bread on display. The employees were very serious and did not acknowledge us. When we stood at the counter to order, there was however, a young man who smiled at us and asked what we wanted. I ordered the Matcha Latte and my friend ordered the Vanilla Latte. We sat outside on the patio at our table- (which was actually two tables next to one another, put together with 4 chairs) and waited for our drinks. Now here is the reason for only 3 stars: The server approached our table with our drinks and went out of his way to place them on the opposite side, rather than directly in front of us. He neither made eye contact nor acknowledged us verbally, and subsequently walked away. This behavior is quite unusual in food service. The beverages were satisfactory and we initially wanted to order a loaf of bread to go but decided not to after the way our drinks were delivered. It is a very nice place, and the people who work there are very nice, friendly. There is a nice side garden with table and chairs to eat. I only wanted to order bread, so I ordered a Country Loaf and a Cheese Loaf to bring home. Sticker shock: $28.00. Both loaves were ok. Very dark and crusty. I would have liked more cheese in the cheese loaf. But we enjoyed both loaves, and the country loaf made great toast. If I happened to be in the area again I think I would like to try a sandwich and enjoy the patio. This review is only for the bread loaves, not for the sandwiches or pastries.
