Ruben was so good. No fat at all.

Wife and I were out for a drive . I found this deli on Yelp. We got a Ruben with fries . Very reasonable prices . Large servings and clean . We will return . We split the order . It was a very filling snack .

Excited I found a new favorite spot - these sandwiches are insane. Cute diner vibes, workers are all sweet, & of course the food - 10/10. Highly recommend the melts in particular. Can't wait to be back regularly!

If you're looking for a nice deli, all-day breakfast, or piled-high sandwiches, this is the place for you! My first visit to Famous Labels Deli was so much fun. I can never pass up trying good matzoh ball soup, so that's definitely what I ordered. Famous Labels has been around forever, and in 2016, they moved to their newest location. I love the ambiance and the great pictures on the walls of New York landmarks and caricatures of celebrities. They bring pickles to the table with every meal, and let me tell you, those pickles were the VIPs of the meal. I also really enjoyed the rye bread that came with my soup. There are plenty of indoor dining options, restrooms for customers only, and a shared parking lot. If you check in on Yelp, you get a free coffee or fountain drink (as of August 2024). The service was great, and you can tell the entire staff enjoys working there.

    Order at the counter.

Fantastic roast beef sandwich. A gem of a jewish deli and i was glad to have found this spot. My friends and I were way outside our usual stomping grounds, hungry, and traffic was awful. So we got off 101 and found this deli. We all had really filling and amazing sandwiches. The cole slaw was delicious. They had all the NY favorites like Dr. Browns sodas, black and white cookies, and knishes. The half sour pickles were a little weird, but the rest of the meal was pretty tasty.

Medicine, I mean Chicken Matzo Ball Soup. :)

Famous Label's Deli (FLD) just might be my favorite local deli ... Recently, I had food delivered for me and my daughter while stuck at home with colds. We both needed something medicinal, comforting, and yummy. FLD hit all the marks. I ordered a large Matzo ball soup. Everything was packaged separately, nicely, and still arrived warm. I also ordered a specialty Turkey Rueben Sandwich on Rye with onion rings. The onion rings were your normal run of the mill frozen ones, but still tasty. I asked for them to be lightly fried. They did just that. My two year old tried them for the first time and gave them a big thumbs up. I bet! What's not to like about fried food? Being a newbie to the Encino area, it's important that I find a few go-to spots in the neighborhood that will deliver when 1.) I'm sick, 2.) in a pinch or 3.) don't have time to cook, and I'm excited to say Famous will be a part of our rotation for now on.

By far one of the best Jewish Deli's as a far as the authentic menu and taste. I love that Mario is always managing the place as he has for decades, but the recent sale was a surprise. The aesthetic refresh of the decor was needed, but the removal of the cabbage soup from the menu is a tragedy. By far the best cabbage soup of any deli in the west coast and I've had them all. My husband purchased several knishes from Mort's Deli. We understood these to be meat knishes based upon how they were described and priced. After bringing them home and cutting them open, we discovered that they were not true meat knishes, but rather potato-and-meat knishes. Had the product been accurately described, we would not have purchased it. We specifically sought meat knishes and paid the corresponding price (see the receipts attached). When I contacted the store to address the issue, employee Kate maintained that the potato-and-meat knish should nevertheless be considered a meat knish. Regardless of the terminology used internally by the store, the product was not what we reasonably understood we were purchasing. The situation became even more troubling when I repeatedly requested copies of the receipts. During the course of the dispute, I was informed that the receipts were not accessible. However, the receipts were ultimately produced and later emailed to me as ordered by the police. Notably, the receipts explicitly identified the product as a "Brisket Knish" and reflected the corresponding charge. The receipts therefore became an important part of understanding how the product had been represented and sold. Rather than resolving the matter promptly and professionally, manager Gail continued to escalate the situation unnecessarily. Ultimately, Gail instigated the calling of law enforcement to the store. Two police officers responded to the scene. Following their investigation, the store was ordered by the police to produce the receipts. The police officers became involved in what should have been a routine customer-service matter. With their assistance, the receipts were eventually produced after previously being misrepresented as inaccessible. What makes this experience particularly upsetting is that my husband is severely disabled, partially paralyzed, and walks with a cane. What should have been a simple request for fair treatment escalated into an unnecessary confrontation involving law enforcement. The needless inconvenience, travel, physical burden, and emotional distress inflicted upon both my husband and me were unfair and unjustifiable. As loyal customers, we found the entire experience shocking and disturbing. We sent the store owner an email detailing the incident but the owner never responded.

I ordered a the Dom and a supremo on their website at about 1:30pm on a Friday. It was ready at 2:30, which seemed like a crazy long wait for a sandwich, especially considering the place was empty when I got there. But alas. I wonder if it would have been quicker for me to just go in and order in person. Anyway, the wait (and 30 minutes of wandering around target to kill time) was worth it. The supremo - it's basically a slice of pepperoni cheese bread. Which is delicious. My late uncle's friend used to make us a pepperoni bread every year at Christmas and try as I might, I could never make it as good as hers. This one is closer than I've gotten! They forgot the side of Marinara for dipping, though, but it's fine because I have no chill and inhaled this thing on the drive home. While I was expecting something a little bigger based on the photo and the price, it was tasty and I would prooooobably get it again. The Dom - the real reason I'm here: a sandwich! I asked them to swap out the provolone for pepper jack, as I do not like provolone. The ratio of all the ingredients was spot on! The bread was soft with a little chew. Everything was fresh. Sandwich was a good size overall. 10/10, would eat again. Excited to go back to try a pizza or maybe a meatball sub or lasagna!

First impression: the store itself is really great. They have a fantastic selection of things to try (dry, deli, frozen, snacks, etc) without being overwhelming. Food: ordered three sandwiches - Spicy Dom, Brasato, and Premio. Our little lunch group devoured each one, sharing little pieces of it so we could try all three, but not wanting to give too much away because we wanted it all to ourselves. The bread was the perfect balance of chewy, light, and crispy to hold all the yummy goodness inside. Not sure why some people are complaining about service here, because every single staff person could not have been nicer or more helpful. Cannot wait to go back and try more things!

Ok. I've seen this place online and thought to myself "if I'm ever in Woodland Hills, I'm going…read morehere". Well.....today was the day. It's a small Italian deli that hits the way you want it to. To the right as soon as you walk in, there's seats and a table where you can wait for your to go order or to eat there. The entire shop was clean, neat and orderly. It's sensory overload walking in. There's a lot going on. The menu is massive. I knew what I wanted after doing some homework before arriving so I was ready. The lady that took my order couldn't have been more of a pleasure to deal with. I placed my order, paid, tipped and sat down. A few minutes later, I had what is probably the best sandwich I've had this year. I should have sat in the parking lot and enjoyed it but I wanted the elbow room because I knew this was a monster. After I got home and unwrapped this behemoth, I instantly knew it was worth the drive. The Dillinger (which is what I ordered) has Pastrami, Meatballs, Italian Sausage, Pepperoni, Mozz Cheese, Garlic Butter and Marinara Sauce. If there's a better (big back) sandwich, I'll wait for your reply. This was soooooo gooood. In every bite you could taste each ingredient separately and it was an explosion of flavors. I ordered a small cup of their marinara sauce to dip/drizzle on each bite.....couldn't have been a better decision. Worth it. The 3 ladies that were working the front counter (around noon on 4/23) were the best. Just an all around great experience and fantastic food. I'll be back soon FOR SURE!!!!

The family vibe is very present and the impressive bulletin board (Cricca's Community) really brings out the neighborhood feel of the place. It's better than the yellow pages, offering everything from handyman services and guitar lessons, to divorce attorneys and mobile RV repair. But I digress. Did I mention how massive the sandwiches are?! I went with the two most popular items on the menu, starting off with the Al Capone (hot Pastrami, double meat, on crusty bread). This is an excellent sandwich, and the meat is pretty lean - not a lot of fat). I also ordered the Godfather (cold Italian Sub - Roast Beef, Turkey, Ham, Capocollo, Salami, Pepperoni, Swiss Cheese and Provolone). Also, delicious. You rarely get turkey and roast beef in an Italian sub - so good. The service was very friendly and helpful. There are a few indoor tables, in case you can't wait for that first bite. I wish I lived closer so I can visit more often; I would be here all the time. Definitely one of the best sandwiches in LA. If you haven't been to Cricca's, then you don't know sandwiches.

Nothing succeeds like excess. In fact, most people will need a take out box for one less meal to cook. Delicatessen means delicate eating in German, but at a Jewish American Delicatessen, the emphasis is on the Eating, which I am not complaining. 1) I requested an off menu item of having a Reuben sandwich where half is Corned Beef and the other Pastrami. Brent's Reuben has warm Sauerkraut, grilled Rye bread, melted Swiss Cheese, 1,000 Island dressing. Thinly sliced, multi-layered Mound of Pastrami is a bit on the dry side. Curing doesn't create a deep meaty Umami and spicing is present but attenuated. The Corned Beef is moister with bit more Umami & plush, thin multi-layered red colored meat. I have to say the Pastrami at Langer's is cured more intensely to bring out a deep Umami as well as more complex and complementary spicing of especially warm spiced cloves that adds aromatic richness. Brent's Pastrami doesn't seem to reach that kind of apotheosis. 1b) I asked for the steak fries to be fried two minutes longer for a crisper finish which was honored. Not much in way of that distinctive potato earthiness, but acceptable. 1c) Coleslaw is mayonnaise based, watery, bland, but a good cruciferous, fibrous veggie to add more fibre, healthful phytochemicals to counter the meat overload even though it isn't flavourful 2) Carrot Cake is closer to a delicate, dense, moist spice cake. A slice is enormous since it is cut from an extra tall cake studded with crushed walnuts and a cream cheese like not too sweet frosting. At $14 it could feed 4 people. Service is fine. They take your order and run with it. Bit of tunnel vision where it may be a bit hard to flag them down. But the job does get done. Overall 3+ stars

They must have recently completed an interior/exterior renovation finally, it's about time! One of the reasons why I was ordering is cause I couldn't stand being inside. My experience yesterday dining-in was a better environment. However, the place was practically empty. I'm pretty sure I know the reason why. It cost me $69 for a half sandwich soup combo, and half a pastrami sandwich with a side of chopped liver, and a hot tea. The tea plate was very thoughtfully appointed: hot water container, cup, honey, lemon, and a good quality teabag, served on a stone plate. My half pastrami sandwich was quite divine, the Ryebread was very fresh, but there was a little bit too much fat on the pastrami. The coleslaw was a little bit on the older side. And the chopped liver matched the expression on the waitresses face, it also was served without any bagel chips, crackers, or rye bread, nor was I asked if I wanted any of those items as typically you spread chopped liver on something! Their napkins are literally like using rough bad paper towels. I believe their utensils are oversized. My guest was extremely doted on, the waitress said that she was making it a half sandwich and soup combo, but I don't think that's what I was charged. How can two half pastrami sandwiches, a bowl of lentil soup, and a small scoop of chopped liver with a cup of tea come to $69??? My experience coming here in all my years is that the place was extremely packed- any time I came. Even my next-door neighbor who lived on the block for over 50 years would come here weekly. They used to have almost the best matzoh ball soup on the planet, not so much anymore they've changed the formula. The matzoh balls used to have flavor and be soft. I make a mean matzoh ball soup, and when I'm not feeling well, I used to buy it from here to nurse me back-to-health- Nature's remedy. But not so much anymore. their chicken soup had become the price of liquid gold. The UGLY: this is an older Edited Review unposted from 4 yrs ago: This review is specifically for the so-called manager that refused service to me (who knows maybe he's not there anymore?) this morning after I had already paid for the order. When I told him I would be leaving a bad review he said he would be removing it!! I've been a Customer at this restaurant for over (28 years). I placed an order through the UberEAT app to be picked up at the store for my lunch today. Despite having a receipt that the items were paid for there was no order for me to pick up at the restaurant. When I asked to place another order as I was running late for work, I needed my lunch, the manager was going to charge me more money than I had paid on the app!!! And then finally told me that he's not placing the order for me that I can do it through the app!! He also refused to give me his name. Hopefully that person doesn't work there anymore. If so, buyer beware, stick to ordering directly with the restaurant to save yourself a nightmare!!!! this guy, if he's still there, sent a 32 year old customer away from the store without any lunch and made her late for work!!!!!!!!

And you'd be 100%, not 7.1% correct, that I would enthusiastically rep my Italian heritage and proudly wave the colors of my National flag... The Red, The White & The Bl.... Errr, I mean Green! ;) Yes, I can admittedly get behind Italian food any day of the week and I know my "Nonna" would be proud. Well thankfully, you don't have to go all the way back to the Motherland to visit your Nonna and experience the old world eats of a little place called Italia! Cause Cavaretta's Italian Deli has all your Deli needs and wants covered. Yep, a San Fernando Valley staple since 1959, this spot has been and continues to be the place to grab the Best Italian sandwich (according to the Daily News) this side of the Colosseum (according to me, Lance L.). But the cocoa powder on top of the Tiramisu (aka the cherry on top)... This deli has an Italian Grocery shop with everything you need to make your real or made up Nonna proud back in your kitchen. So, forget about waiting around for your 23&Me results to come back and just get your little pasticcino buns over to Cavaretta's and live like the Italiano's do! Ciao Bella!
