I was here last week and enjoyed the best customer service I've experienced in any retail setting in years. Years. From the moment I walked into the store until I walked out with a very large bag (after purchasing 2 coats and a sweater and ordering two sweater blazers so I could get the ideal size), I was treated with an incredible level of attention and care. For context, I'm small, I look a bit younger than I am, and I don't often look like someone sales associates should spend a lot of time paying attention to, so this really stood out. I was advised and checked up on without feeling suffocated, and the level of care with which the clothing was tucked away (double bagged in their large paper bags and covered very neatly/carefully with tissue paper for privacy) stood out. I usually only have that experience in luxury stores. I also politely declined an offer to start over with repackaging my purchase after a handle of the bag snapped on my way out. I felt comfortable making my way anyway, but the apology and offer was much appreciated. I've popped in here a few times over the years when I'm in a pinch, but I'll come back deliberately in the future. I was converted into a fan. read more

I've never shopped at Loft before but I am a fan! Why? I am quite small, so I absolutely love the fact that they have a dedicated section for petites! Their clothes are stylish, although I am kind of lost on the different styles of pants. They all sound the same to me. Also, I wish the quality of the clothes was better for example thicker sweaters and blouses, rather than ones made of see through rayon. Plus, it's right across the street from my work! Ann Taylor Loft, lemme give you a few tips on customer service.... 1) When I'm walking around a store carrying so many pieces of clothing I can no longer look for more things to try on because my hands are so full; this is your clue to ask me if I want a dressing room. 2) When I'm digging through a pile of pants or shirts looking for a size; offer to help me. 3) When you see me walking around your store half dressed looking for another size in whatever merchandise I'm wearing; ask if you can get me another size. 4) If I'm struggling with the neckline of a shirt on a mannequin, it's not because I get off on fondling up mannequins; ask me if you can help me find a size in that shirt. 5) If you see a customer standing at the counter with a piece of merchandise; don't finish up your conversation with an off the clock co-worker, come help me. It's been a long time since I've worked in retail, but it seems to me these are commen sense things. Outlet stores, stores that sell dirt cheap merchandise, and most mini-marts can get away with ignoring their customers. When I'm paying $100 for 1 piece of merchandise, you can't get away with ignoring me. Well, you can, and I'll just go to the Ann Taylor Loft that's a few blocks away where they'll acknowledge me. Yes the employees are friendly or even helpful if you ask them for help, but I don't want to have to seek you out to give you my money. Most importantly, I don't have to seek out help in other stores, it comes to me. I love spending money on clothes. I work less than a block from this store. This should be a match made in heaven. The scene: My gym, 8AM. Dramatis personae: Me, full of self-congratulation at the feat of having awoken early and gotten to the gym before work. Post-workout, I go to change into my work clothes and start my day. I've not only gotten to the gym before work, but I'm about to change into my cute, new Ann Taylor Loft shirt. What a day. I am so awesome. Lo, what is this? It appears that, due to some technical malfunction at whichever factory birthed my cute, new Ann Taylor Loft shirt, the right side was simply NOT SEWN. The fabric meets at the side but has nothing holding it together. Let us put aside for the moment the fact that this somehow slipped my attention when I was purchasing said shirt. We have a big problem on our hands. I throw my jacket over my ribcage-exposing shirt and rush down the street to Ann Taylor Loft (which luckily opens at 8 - perfect timing to solve pre-work issues such as this). The saleslady was very helpful in finding a replacement shirt for me. While I was there, I saw several other women come in and say a small prayer that Ann Taylor Loft was there to solve their early-morning fashion crises (such as the lady with two different colored shoes on). Ann Taylor Loft is a pretty awesome store. I find great basic pieces that mix and match with old wardrobe selections. The styles are generally classic, but sometimes go print heavy in the summertime. Today's trip didn't yield a much needed semi-formal rehearsal dress, but gave me time ogle over some nice knit tops. This store is set up well with a dressy side, a casual wear side, a sale side, and finally a petite side. The dressing rooms are blindingly bright and seem to highlight the bad features instead of the good ones at times. The dressing room staff is nice, but the rooms themselves could use a makeover and some new doors. I nearly got stuck in fitting room because I had to yank the door wide open. Overall, it's a good Ann Taylor Loft for those quick window shopping trips. It's just not my favorite Ann Taylor Loft in the area. read more

I decided to buy a pair of pants at additional 60% off the markdown price of $49.99. When I got home, I looked at my receipt and noticed that I had been charged $59.50 - and then the additional 60%. This is almost $10 more than the price on the tag. Since I live in Indiana and do not go into Chicago that often, I was not able to get back to Loft for an adjustment until a month after I made the purchase. When I showed the clerk the overcharge, she refused to make the adjustment. Said it was policy not to make adjustments after one week. I explained AGAIN that the clerk had made the overcharge error that I was not asking for any additional discounts. She kept reiterating that it was store policy and could not correct THEIR ERROR! Well, you know what. There are stores like WHITE HOUSE BLACK MARKET, KOHL'S, MACY'S that WILL correct their employees' errors. I warn you, don't leave the store until you check your receipt. read more

I am so thankful to have Ann Taylor Loft right near my work. Ann Taylor has helped me in a pinch. I've bought a whole new outfit after the one I was wearing got soaked in the rain. I've picked up a giftcard for a friend's birthday here. The store is currently remodeling so the selection doesn't seem to be that great. The store is always bright, clean and welcoming. The employees I've bumped into have been friendly. I can't wait to see what the remodeled store looks like! read more

This location just got a face lift and looks so much better! It's much bigger and brighter and the selection has improved. Customer service can be hit or miss, but lately the staff has been friendly and helpful. The discounts are one reason why I love this store so much. The sales are great and they're always sending me coupons. I have bought tops and jeans for $8-$20! My favorite pair of skinny jeans are from here. They were marked down to $10 and I regret not buying another pair or two! The newer skinnies don't fit the same. :( read more

Love this location, store overall is good but it's SO nice to have a store downtown by my office and I can tell many other females feel the same way. They open really early so if you need to grab something to wear before work (or return!) you can, or lunch or after work. Everyone is really nice and they have great sales very often. read more

It's a place to walk around after a filling lunch. They selections they have are catered to the working class around the area. They have decent sales, like right now they have 50% off everything in the whole store! Which is pretty decent. This Ann Taylor is relatively smaller than the other Ann Taylors you would see probably because it's in downtown. But you can definitely score some good deals if you walk around often. read more

Right now Ann Taylor Loft has a deal on sale items, buy one get a second sale item half off. I just walked out of that place with a pair of really cute jeans (low rise boot cut, but they had a few other styles at the same low price of $20!) and 4 tops for $100 total! Beat that! :) I was at the one on Washinton between Clark and LaSalle and there is a decent selection on sale. In general this really is a great reasonable store to go for business casual or tops to go with jeans that are cute without screaming "I wish I was 21 again!"- lots of casual-with-jeans looks, dresses, and sometimes sexy but classy evening tops I am mostly excited about finding jeans to fit my hard to fit body for so cheap! read more

Bless the hearts of the ladies who work at this location. Three separate employees spent half an hour calling every Ann Taylor Loft in the greater Chicagoland area trying to track down a champagne ruffle dress in my size. When there were no dresses to be found they ordered one for me from goodness knows where. They get 5 stars for customer service but lose one because it's ridiculous that there isn't a single dress in my size in this entire city. ATL, I enjoy your store but you need to stock up on the sizes that sell out as opposed to keeping your rack full of only 10s until they have to be sold on clearance in January. read more

I love this place. The selection at this particular store isn't as large as the selection you would find at their other locations, but its still a great store. Not to mention if you need a different size the women that work their are incredibly helpful. I fell in love with a black ruffle wrap dress, but found that it had a small ripe. Within five minutes the fearless clan of Ann Taylor had located the dress and placed it on hold for me at another location. It is a bit pricey, which is the only reason why my entire wardrobe isn't from their, but you pay for what you get. Everything is true to size and fits great. Love this store. This particular location is the best I've been in; the sales people are extremely helpful and very friendly about it. Every time I've been in there, I see them running around finding sizes for people & calling other stores if they don't have what a customer needs. I usually go on my lunch hour, and the dressing room staff are very efficient and keep things moving smoothly. The staff people are definitely not shy about sharing future sales info; I've been told a couple of times to come back to get a lower price on something I'm purchasing. read more

I was a loyal Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft customer but my experience there yesterday was a nightmare. Arrived early for a business meeting next door to the store, so I stopped in for a quick look at the sales. I found a perfect black sweater, right size and on sale, but every thing went south when I tried to check out. I didn't have my charge card but lots of id, including my driver's license. However, the dude at check-out couldn't have been less helpful. He acted like I had asked him to set the store on fire. After over 5 minutes he announced, "your account is closed." But of course it wasn't. I tried to explain that this was impossible, having just shopped at Ann Taylor in the last 2 weeks. He repeatedly said, "This is not my problem," and "There's nothing I can do," what? Don't they do any customer service training here? Eventually, he found my account but said, "Well, you have an Ann Taylor Mastercard account. You didn't tell me that." I didn't buy the sweater. read more

I went into this store on my lunch hour today to do a return. As I waited in line, I realized I had the wrong receipt for one of the items, and also did not have my Loft card with me. Not only did Melissa, who had the misfortune to have to ring me up, take the time to call about my card, and look up my receipts using my email, she was completely happy to do it. Despite working with me for over 10 minutes - with many other customers in line - she was polite, and even nice. She was also very nice to everyone she spoke to on the phone. To say I am impressed would be an understatement. People take a lot of time to talk about their bad experiences, and I think we too often forget to talk about the good stuff. I really want to love this store. It is steps away from my office and sometimes they have great sales, I just can't love it. I've gone in here at least 2 dozen times just to browse...I've purchased maybe 6 or 7 times. Most of those were desperate times (I hated the shirt I had on, I bought a new one that I liked slightly more, had unexpected after work plans, etc.). The pants fit weird. Kind of like "mom" pants with the higher waist with the small effort to be a low rise pant leaving them sitting awkwardly. The t-shirts are super soft but way over priced ($29.50-$44.50). They don't last long and the sizes are never correct. Sometimes I am a medium, sometimes I am a large (oh how fun to play THAT game)... all in the same day. I am not a fan of some of the staff. Totally unfriendly and unapproachable. Not all, just some that I have experienced. I went back and forth on how to rate this. I will stick with 3 stars but I was leaning more towards 2. read more
