Downtown and super busy. Came on a Friday evening around 3pm. There was a security guard when you enter that allowed you up the stairs as part of crowd control. After waiting 3 minutes we could go up. Men's are on your left. Women's on your right. Active, household etc are in the back and other items are spread out throughout. It's a pretty cramped space and so you'll be dipping and swerving in and out of foot traffic. Lots of items to sift through. Almost too many in my opinion but makes sense since it's downtown and in a centralized location. Checkout was long. Even with 8 cashiers. It wrapped around. They aren't winning any customer service awards anytime soon but they were quick to ring me up. read more

This was a very close walk from our nearby hotel. The store was relatively neat as the staff were in the mist of stocking. Very easy to locate items as the signs are visible. Selection was pretty good and lots of clearance items as well. Ross is always a must for me while traveling as I love to see how stores in other cities compare to my local ones back home. read more

Lot of collections. It is bit messy at clothes area but home decor section is good. They were not able to give me size for the dress as they did not have tracking. We have to search for own size. I did not get party dress what I aimed for but I got a nice summer dress. Also, my friends got good home organizers. Price is reasonable. Value for money. read more

Just came here to do some bargain shopping. They had a lot of variety of clothes and shoes. There were some nice clothes for reasonable prices and the value was outstanding. The only thing I found interesting was the amount of security in the store. Security officers greeted us followed us around the store and they were waiting at the exit to check everyone's bags. There were tons of security cameras on the ceiling. Amazing! The elevator is broken. If someone is disabled, elderly, or with babies, there is only one way in and out, "by the escalator". read more

Cute finds but the employees are weird, they get pretty aggressive during closing and were talking to customers sideways. Definitely understand wanting to go home but it was crazy to watch the amount of disrespect they treated people with as they were making their way to the line. A little before this incident I had a security guard ask me out. Good place to go with your headphones in just don't take them out, the workers are either weird or just rude; not much of an in between. I will also mention the space between the aisles are very minimum. Especially at peak times it can be incredibly stressful to get around. Hey fellow Yelp users! I went to this Ross location on Friday, March 17, 2023 to go on a shopping spree. I found tons of goodies. A mix of tops from the juniors section & skin care stuff. This location always a great selection of items. Fitting Room Experience: I usually don't try on clothes in the fitting room, but I did today for the first time at this location. The 2 ladies, a Caucasian lady & Hispanic lady, were very nice. The limit of clothes to try on in the fitting room was 8, so I went back out 2 times to try on all my clothes. Bathroom: I went to the bathroom before trying my clothes on. The lady was really nice enough to buzz me in to use it. The bathroom was clean. Overall Shopping Experience: Overall, I had a great shopping experience at Ross. I found a lot of great items both that I purchase and didn't purchase. I also did a quick return, but the cashier that was about to check out told me to go behind a lady on the return side/line. I rarely return at Ross lol. This is one of few Ross stores that is always packed with merchandise. Each time we stop in they have multiple people working the checkout registers and we have never got stuck waiting long in a line. I only wish they would pay closer attention to the cleanliness of the dressing rooms. read more

This beet powder sells anywhere from 19.99 to 26.00 in some vitamin shops and health food stores. Guess who found it at 7$ per jar. Items were great up until we started to check out. My cousin set her bag down for a second while we checked out and a majority of the staff was unhelpful. We asked 2 security guards for help. One, said he'd "ask" if anyone had seen it, and almost immediately turned to do something else. After continuing our search, asking every worker possible, and several customers to help us on our search, no one seemed to care. The second security guard had told us that "no manager was present" and there was no way to check security cameras. We circled back to the checkout to where we asked a cashier if there was a manager we could speak to, to which she helped us immediately. The manager came towards us and told us that there was no way to check security cameras because a majority of their cameras are fake. He told us that there was no way for us to receive help from anybody and that we were better off just leaving. Thankfully, the cashier, who overheard our conversation came back towards us and asked us what we were looking for. It took her about 30 seconds to find it, as the manager had tucked it under the register. Shoutout to my girl fr, but everyone else didn't care to look around at least a little. read more

I have to be honest I was not a Ross Lady before but now I am and I would happily wear the T-Shirt. I have to say that all Ross stores aren't created equally. I like the Ross in Hyde Park but I love this location. This one is more organized and clean. I can't compare the cashiers because all of the ones I have encountered were very nice and professional. I have found some great deals which I take a pic of later like mason salt and pepper shakers for $3.99 and on Amazon a seller was selling them for $19.99. I ran back and got it because it was such a good deal. I found some inspirational soup mugs .49 and a beautiful glass set for only $2.49. These prices helps during these uncertain times. Now, everything isn't that inexpensive but boy is it great when you can find that kind of deal. I didn't have a return but it didn't seem like there was a hassel as long as you have your receipt. This is one of the largest Ross I have been to and I found gifts for everyone!!! The one drawback is taking their price stickers off, they use permanent glue and it's very hard taking the labels off without damaging the package or if you do get it off looks dirty. Surprised to see a varied selection of house decor that's really cute and good quality. I suppose when their customers have not ransacked the place, the store and shelves are pretty well stocked and organized. Hours of operations are wonderful they open at 8 am. Good selection of items. Shoes for adults and children they need stock. Clean establishment and there is parking. I like to visit this store, the prices are low for really good clothes and some staff for home! After walking around the city and getting blisters, I really needed more comfortable shoes. Came here as it was on our way back to our hotel. The store is on the second floor. There's an escalator and a lift to go up. Before you even notice where anything is, you're consumed by the scent of Popeyes Fried Chicken that permeates the air. Apparently, this store is over Popeyes kitchen. If you're hungry, this makes it even more difficult to remember why you came in. I had to constantly remind myself that I need to buy shoes. The store was pretty messy and shoes seemed to be in wrong areas for their size. The clothing area was very disorganized as well. The staff were pleasant and helpful. As with any Ross stores, there's bunch of garbage mixed in with some awesome brands that have great reputation. It's up to you to find the appropriate items you seek. read more

Pros: A bunch of super cute, super affordable things! You can find anything you need here from clothes to household items. I shop here at least once a week, if not more. I wish they had a rewards program since I spend so much money here, haha. Cons: The staff is always rude and working slow. They don't care about how long the lines are, they take their time. It's not just the cashiers, the people working the floor act annoyed when you ask them for something. One thing I've noticed is that every time you walk into the store, there's a photo of their district manager and it's always changing. I've seen the photo change at least 10 times in the past few months. Why can't they stick to one district manager for a long period of time? A little strange. *I used to work at a couple different Ross stores in the suburbs so this may be somewhat biased, mostly regarding the messes This is your typical Ross: a smorgasbord of things you came in for and what you actually found and how you talk yourself into getting it. The employees are always very nice. If there is an issue it is most likely policy. The workers are told not to leave their area so if you ask for help I, at least, was told it wasn't allowed. They can point you in a certain direction but that's about it. Sometimes there are exceptions: an elderly woman dropped her keys in her car and couldn't reach them so I went out to help. That was in the suburbs so keep in mind this store is not. Sure, the store is messy. It gets cleaned, organized, etc. and then you open. Guess who makes those messes? I'm guilty of it too. There just isn't enough time in the day to keep the store presentable. I give this Ross 4/5 stars. One star is lost as the deals are not as good as others when referring to things marked down. read more

I'm in town a few days longer than planned and needed a few clothing items. Ross is closest to the hotel, so I walked over. I'd never been in a Ross before, so was surprised at the very disorganized shelves. Maybe it's only the men's clothing section. Anyway, it wasn't easy to find basics like briefs, t shirts, and a dress shirt. I eventually did, then waited what seemed to me an inordinately lengthy time to check out. More than three cashiers were needed on this Friday night. Kudos to the cashier, though. He was working hard. If you're in a pinch and too far from somewhere better, this place may work out. If I could give them a zero I would do so. They have THE worst customer service. The cashier's are extremely rude. 1. Everytime I've shopped is a bad experience. I try to work with them due to someone maybe having a bad day. 2.The store is never organized like other Ross stores. 3. I took my daughter there to get a couple pairs of shoes. She was trying on shoes and wanted to look at more options. She then got up found a couple and needed assistance to bringing them back to the try on area. As we approached the area we noticed that her shoes were gone. We then looked around and asked security for help. They play crazy with the manager on duty and claimed that they checked the cameras. They then stated they didn't see anything. So my daughter had to walk out without shoes. 3. I was in need of a formal gown for an event. I found the only dress that was perfect. As I approached the checkout and in line I then noticed that the dress looked worn and it was dirty. I asked for a discount due to that and the cashier said take it home and wash it. Senior citizen disabled with a walker-rollator here, so I didn't know whether I could visit Ross because trying to navigate the two flights of stairs going down, carrying my walker was dangerous and tricky with the elevator being temporarily out of service. Fortunately, when I spoke to Mireya, who was very gracious and helpful, she told me that a Ross employee named Julian would help. Did a little shopping and looking around (first time in Ross), and was very impressed by the variety and selection of items in the men's section. When I was ready to leave Julian, with no questions asked, carried my walker down the stairs himself! Thank you Mireya and Julian. Fantastic customer service. read more

I've been coming here for a while, and was definitely due for a review. I get lost in all Ross Stores; especially this one. I get lost in looking at the great selection of athletic apparel; dress shirts, pants, and shoes; as well as the hats! This one never lets me down, but what was frustrating today was finding many great dress shirts that didn't have price tags on them. Sheesh! I will let that slide, but man this has to be fixed! That could've also been a sign for me to keep my spending low as well. Tighten it up Ross; if you want my money baby, lol. This is one of my favorite Ross Stores, which just happens to also be downtown. For it getting a huge number of tourists; they sure keep it well stocked. This is a pretty nice store. They seem to have a pretty wide collection of items to purchase. From shoes, clothes, and even housewares. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful too. The only reason I don't have all 4 stars because the parking is a bit of a hassle to figure out; so getting to the location was challenging for me. However, it's still a great store if you can figure out/find parking. read more

In the spirit of TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Filene's Basement (RIP), AJ Wright (RIP) and Burlington Coat Factory; Ross is popping up all over. This is the store that replaced FYE on Randolph & Wabash. Very bright location in terms of lighting and staff always seems to want to help. Its a discount clothing store so you can get brands like Michael Kors, Calvin Klein, Perry Ellis at a better rate than Macys or Neiman Marcus, but of course the selection is not as vast...as a matter of fact you find a lot of picked over stuff as you do in the stores I mentioned in the beginning of the review. They keep the store up well though. Copped a nice pair of Michael Kors pajamas for the cheap...its about to be cold in Chicago...needed those! Dress For Less indeed! read more

How can anyone not like Ross? Its where unwanted, returned, rejected, and discontinued products go where they are resold for cheap! I love Ross! This is my go to place for travel stuff, clothes, housewares, kitchenware and bedding. Good bedding with high thread count is ridiculously expensive. But I was able to find (after some digging) a nice set of bedding sheets here. Ross even sells art work, clocks, and I've even seen them sell a button tuffed head board!! The head board was so cute but it was too large for me to take home. If you stay here long enough, you'll find some real treasures! read more

For Ross, I was very impressed with the men's section. Easily the biggest men's section at an off-price retailer I've ever visited. Customer Service doesn't exist at stores like this, hence the deduction of a start. But because I was so impressed with my findings I awarded it 4 stars. I found some Lacoste, Michael Kors, and other lesser know albeit unique brands that are just what I look for when purchasing pieces for my upcoming blog. You KNEW I'd find one! You knew that I'd be looking. Ross is everywhere, it's pervasive. I came to find something interesting for a cruise I'm taking in September and I did find it, but now that I have it, I'm not sure that I want it. Hehe.. So more shopping to do. Over all, the store was large, ok in it's organization, and good in it's security. They have their security person established at the top of the escalator as you enter. I've been to this Ross Dress for Less twice. I went in the first time during their grand opening week. It was crowed and disorganized due to human traffic. I thought I would come back in a month or two. Today I stopped by before the yelp event in Harris Theater. However, I was disappointed that the accessory department wasn't well-stocked. Apparently they either have removed lots of cold-weather accessories of the floor or they have sold down most of their inventory. Well, in Chicago, that kind of stuff is still needed and much-demanded. We're not ready for spring yet, at least I'm not. Inventory in other departments were not much interesting, either. I'm usually a fan of Ross Dress for Less and like to pop in every once in awhile, but this downtown loop locations doesn't seem to have much to offer. The suburb ones that I've visited are way more amusing to me. Yet, I will continue to check on them. Hopefully there's some change or improvement when the new season arrives...in Chicago time! read more

I have shopped at Ross for a very long time, they have always had systemic issues like long lines and product on the floor but since the pandemic, the store has completed changed for the worse. The employees are not only disrespect when they are incorrect about the return policy, the customer service does absolutely nothing to help either. I love RDFL! Every one that I've ever been in actually. The Ross locations in the big cities are way more stocked than the two locations in my small city. Just like the downtown Las Vegas location, when you walk through the the door of this location, you head straight up the escalator and into the bargain lover's dream. I was in search of ear muffs and although I didn't find any ear muffs, I scored a hat for under $10 and socks for an awesome price too. This day, I wasn't in the mood to scavenge through the clothing racks, but they seemed to be fully stocked. I walked past the luggage section, there was no shortage of luggage options. I've spent a lot of money here over the last year and used to enjoy coming here. Today I was in line and the the next person to be checked out. Suddenly, a man walks in, security greets him as they do all patrons. He tells her that he has a return. The security lady tells him to go to the said of the checkout counter for returns. I think nothing of this, until the woman at the register finishes up with the client who was in front of me in line and turns to the man and says she can take him. I politely spoke up and said that I've been in line waiting and he just got here. She (Jackie) informs me that people with returns, are first. WHAT?? I've never experienced a business prioritize a return OVER a customer who was first in line, wanting to make a purchase. Wait your dang turn.. The lines are long, but every time I go to this place I always find what I'm looking for in 5 minutes or less at the price I am wanting to pay. The entire store is like the clearance section at Marshall's and TJ Maxx... yes that cheap. Here's what I got: --Brand new Michael Kors (no logos) dark skinny jeans (the kind you can tuck into boots) with tags still on them originally $100, for $30. --$22 Nicole Miller black premium fleece lined tights for $5. --Super cute purse ornaments for $3 (3 of them so $1/piece). All the employees were very nice and helpful. The store doesn't have the section of a Marshall's or TJ Maxx but I def could have gone crazier than the $40 I spent.
