So frustrating and I ask myself "why"? Placed my phone take out order at 3:49pm, was told it'll be ready in 10 minutes. Get to the Loft a little after 4:00pm, order wasn't quite ready but paid the bill. Didn't leave until 4:26pm. I hadn't been to the Loft for years but read my previous reviews and started to laugh. This was my biggest complaint from before and I'm still subjecting myself to that same thing of my order not being ready. The food is always a hit, what a difficult choice. read more

I have been a long time customer but one Monday I found a long hair in my food, called to complain the old guy said he would refund me for one plate but instead takes my money. They'll never see another dime of money plus the quality of the food has gone down since they moved to that rut. Recently moved to a new location. They are now off Western Ave in Gardena. They are in a little strip center shared with other businesses parking is small here especially at peak times and weekends either the other eating places. This place is in the corner and very small inside. If you plan to dine in there are only a few table if you have a big group it will be tough to dine in here. Overall the food is good here this is my favorite place for bacon fried rice. read more

I want to support local folks but when the expediter can't ensure the order is correct when going out the door, I question who is in charge. I returned here to The Loft after 10 years, for no other reason than I've not gotten around to it. The Island Fried Chicken is good. I don't remember going to this location before, as I've gone to the one on Hawthorne, Pacific Coast Highway, and Redondo Beach Blvd (or maybe they were the Back Home at Lahaina branded associated Loft family of restaurants). This location in 2023 is Counter Service, and the dining area is kinda dark and dingy, not really with the whole "Aloha" spirit in decor or atmosphere. The service provider was, I think, Hispanic, so not the typical Polynesian Hawaiian Asian Islander type of staff you'd stereotypically expect. Regardless of logistics and aesthetics, it's down and dirty, hole in the wall, comfort food and good eats overall The service as fast and friendly, no frills. Parking is easy in the parking lot. I'd say this is the type of place you'd take your wife of many years or family, more so than a night on the town "date" night experience. It's a reliable known quality type place. read more

The Loft is the place for Gardena Hawaiian comfort food. I have been going there since I was a kid. I remember riding up the elevator with my parents to the loft location off of Normandie. I have always finished whatever is on my plates. The lady that was helping us promptly took our order at the counter. This is different than the table service as before, but fine by me. I ordered my combination of beef, chicken, and pork; then went to take a seat. In a few minutes, the server brought out the food to the chosen table. I love the color scheme and decor when going to this restaurant. Looking at the old photos reminded me of my days of playing baseball and basketball. The Loft has been around for decades. I've always. Liked the loft, but this was my first time at this location. I placed in the order. They said it'd be ready in 15 minutes. I showed up 30 minutes later and still had to wait 20 minutes. And the restaurant was empty and they were getting ready to a close. I had the order for take out. The actual restaurant itself did not look very clean. Once I did get the food and went home, it was good. No complaints on the taste of the food and the price. Was fine. read more

**3.5 STARS** **During these COVID-19 times, I do feel very safe coming to The Loft to pick-up my food. I believe its best to call in your order, but I'm sure you can go and order too. You aren't even allowed inside and they have a couple tables blocking the entrance. They also have plastic shields and all of the staff comes out with gloves and a mask. I'm glad to see that they are keeping their staff, their customers, and doing their part to keep the community fed and safe. Double thumbs up! The Loft has been a part of the South Bay Hawaiian food scene for such a long time. They had a few different locations or they moved around a lot. They now have this current location in North Torrance and a couple years back they opened another location in South Torrance. They have changed the menu a few times over the years. I personally really liked the beef katsu but they got rid of that :( I would personally recommend getting the 3 item plate - comes with 1 beef entree, 2 pork/chicken entrees, rice, cabbage salad and macaroni salad. This is my go-to order - every single time: Korean BBQ Beef - Thinly slice tri-tip marinated in a delectable sauce! Definitely order this! Island Style Fried Chicken- Marinated chicken that gets deep fried to a nice crisp. It has so much flavor and the crunch on the outside is always good. Asian BBQ Chicken - A similar marinade as the Korean BBQ Beef, but on chicken. This is definitely why I like this one too. Overall, The Loft is pretty good! We're fortunate to have so many local Hawaiian spots living in the South Bay. The Loft is no frills and very straightforward with what you get. The 3 item combo plate is HUGE! It can easily be 2-3 meals for a single person. It's also not the cheapest thing at around $20 with tax, but it definitely will make you full and you'll have leftovers too! read more

Loft, Loft , Loft.... Don't stop being my favorite restaurant just because you're trying to profit a little extra!! The island style fried chicken pieces are looking a little sad these days. It's fallen off a little. Not quite worth the hour+ drive for me like it used to be. The last couple times the pieces were small and not juicy. Picture below. I'm not a picky eater. But I have loved the loft since I moved to LA in 2001. Keeping customers happy with quality is stronger for your longevity than your product dwindling just to save money using less chicken. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times before. It's been mediocre. So today, I decided to give it another try in hopes it would change my mind. I'm sad to report it did not go well. The cashier was very nice and she was friendly and attentive but the good stops there the food was so overcooked and dry. I ordered the chicken katsu, and I don't recommend it. The only thing that was edible was the macaroni salad, which has too much pepper, in my opinion. Also, the amount of cabbage on the plate was ridiculous. Please do better. read more

Unprofessional service by Loft Hawaiian restaurant. Our family have ordered take out multiple times from here by now and this time we have asked if they included the macaroni salad. For the third time, they have forgotten it. We asked them face to face to make sure that they package it and the one thing they are consistent on is forgetting your food. This is the 3rd time they have forgotten the mac salad from my order after a good tip. This is the last time we order from this restaurant as they are lazy and don't know how to package orders properly. Please do better as a family restaurant! read more

The service here was good. Not really happy that you can only use credit cards here and no cash. Also maybe it's just what I got but the food to me seemed bland. It is tough to sustain a Hawaiian restaurant in a sea of Hawaiian restaurants. However, The loft has somehow withstood the test of time. As a bevy of Hawaiian restaurants have popped in and out over the area over the last years, even the LOFT, an area favorite has withstood the Pandemic. However, it did come with some modifications over the years. The quality and menu of the food have gone down considerably. My sister remembers coming here as a child and they do not have any more curries or other favorites. Instead it is left with very basic Hawaiian items. Not much of a difference between here and more superior spots. There is still a eat in area however it is outdated and hardly anyone comes here anymore. All food is not served on a plate but instead everything is served in Styrofoam boxes with TO GO cutlery. Everything is ordered at the counter and served in a TO GO manner. Definitely disappointing as of olden days. As I said food quality has gone down and there are more superior Hawaiian places popping up in the area, at the same price read more

Food is great here, been coming since the original "loft" location on Normandie, however, for those that are not familiar with the Loft establishments around they are robbing the gardena community. Prices are almost double in comparison to Lakewood and Cypress locations. I'd suggest taking a look for yourself. Owner should not be proud of this. Rent and overhead is not an excuse when you no longer offer dine in and table service, which all the other have. Oc rent is relative and taxes are higher in those areas. Will not be visiting here any longer. Sticking to other locations. If you want good Hawaiian food in the area worth the wallet go to aunty mailes. read more

I haven't been to Loft Hawaiian Restaurant & it was somewhat on my route home so I took a quick detour to claim this birthday freebie: NIIHAU ISLAND FRIED CHICKEN (boneless chicken leg marinated in sweet ginger sauce, then fried) WITH RAMEN CABBAGE SALAD & BROCCOLI. I recalled this space used to be occupied by a Japanese restaurant specializing in tapas. On a late Tuesday afternoon, the restaurant was relatively quiet but the phones were constantly ringing so I'm guessing takeout is more common than dining in. Service was friendly but not quick, & the food came pipin' hot. =) I was pleasantly surprised... the chicken is really good with sweet ginger that's just enough to keep it interesting but not overwhelming so. And the crunch -- crispy coating covering moist & tender pieces of chicken. Oh, that crunch got to me & got to me good, & these nuggets of yumminess left me feeling satisfied without being greasy. Yay! The ramen cabbage salad was a tad too vinegary & the broccoli was fresh. The serving was generous so it was a most filling meal!
