Came here for some garlic shrimp (bomb), aloha chicken (a little dry) some fish jun (a little dry as well but it's mahi they use here) and a breakfast burrito (really big but lots of rice) Being a fan of auntie mailes and eating everything local this was definitely a hit. I wouldn't say the food totally delivered but the service and the hawaiian spirit lives on here. We came on a Sunday and they had a live duo here. It was nice, would do it again soon. One thing we wished we had done was pay in advance for the malasadas. Apparently we didn't and the line grew longer during lunch. So we will have to try the pizza and the malasadas another weekend. The signage was very confusing as the building says Aloha PIZZA. After determining it was the correct place, I was disappointed to learn it really does focus on pizza (I had been sent here by Island Rootz, a sister place). I was looking for chicken teriyaki like they have at Island Rootz. The girl recommended a chicken dish that was "similar", but with dark meat. Again I was disappointed because when I got home, it was FRIED! I don't eat fried chicken (try to stay away from fried foods in general). Telling me it was similar, I didn't bother to ask so partially my bad. I'm sure all the food is tasty, including the pizza, but I now know to ask about menus and specific items instead of trusting someone's suggestions completely. They have outdone themselves in making a malasada that holds its freshness beyond the day it is made. Even Leonard's bakery couldn't accomplish that, and they are the original place in Hawaii for hot malasadas! After a few hours, the consistency is lost, whereas the malasadas from Aloha Platez holds up nicely. I usually buy a half dozen for me and my husband to take home. This way we have a nice treat three days in a row. We love the dobash and Haupia filled ones rolled in sugar. Delicious! They even have malasada french toast too with coconut and Ube cream! I've always wanted to try this place as I frequent Aunty Maile's and this place is much closer to me. I went with a friend who was born and raised in HI, and we were very happy with everything! First of all the service is wonderful, from the register when you order to when you sit down and eat. Everyone is so nice and attentive; constantly making sure you're good and the food is good. The food itself was also really good. I tried the chicken which was juicy, garlicky and so tasty. Then the meat jun was also so good and cooked perfectly. The poke was so fresh and they gave really big pieces. Lastly, the malasada was cooked fresh then brought straight to our table. It was so fluffy and soft! There's also a lot of seating and a huge TV so it's a nice little spot to eat dinner while watching the game. There's also a lot of parking but note to watch out for the signs cause some parking is specifically designated for apartment parking only. Prior to Easter Sunday, I've only had their take out and my dine in experience was positive! The minute we stepped in, we were welcomed in by Junko and Scott helped us with our order. We had their Garlic Shrimp and Teri Beef which were both delicious! They are generous with their two scoops of white rice and tasty mac salad. The shrimp had a good crunch! The beef was tender! The Kalua Pie BBQ Pork is absolutely delicious! I love the combination of red onion, cilantro, and mango, it pairs perfectly with the pork and had me in a food coma as soon as I got home. My husband and I also shared the Fish Jun Grilled Mahi with a thin egg batter. The fish was slightly dry, and I think a bit more egg batter might have helped. I still haven't found a place in LA that does fish or meat jun as well as in Hawaii. That said, the pizza here is definitely the star, you don't want to miss it. Greeted like family by Scott as we placed our order. We haven't been here since it changed ownership; we enjoyed it when it was Aloha Pizza. We're already big fans of Aunty Maile's, so we were excited to support this business and drive from South OC here. We love that they expanded the menu to include plate lunches and all the familiar goodies from Aunty Maile's. We came at 3 pm, and it was crowded. There was a band playing - 4 uncles playing familiar, great music and harmonizing so beautifully. An aunty got up to do a beautiful hula dance. It's almost as if we're back on the islands at a family luau. For the first round, we ordered 2 large pizzas (one for to-go), and 4 plate lunches for the 6 of us. A couple new dishes for us here are spicy miso tofu and char siu chicken. For the tofu, I substituted rice and Mac salad for a garden salad. Oh, my goodness! Their salad dressing is amazing! It has a hint of sweetness and tartness and then bam!..the fresh garlic! Yum! Tofu was good, too! Hubby had the char siu chicken with all rice and no Mac salad. It came with a side of hot mustard. Truly onolicious! Only ask for next time is extra hot mustard. For dessert round, we got a dozen malasadas - 6 "simple kine" and 6 "filled," and a shave ice. Came here for shave ice. I ordered the Blue Hawaiian and added condensed milk and fresh strawberries to it. The wife ordered the Hawaiian Punch with mangos added to it. At the recommendation of the worker there, we also ordered a couple of plain malassadas. I loved my Blue Hawaiian shave ice. The ice was pleasantly smooth like I was eating a nice bowl of bing su. I tasted my wife's shave ice and liked it as well. The malassadas, however, were just okay. They were warm and freshly made, but they tasted to me like dinner rolls dusted with sugar. If I could give Aloha Platez 6-stars, I would. The people that work here are so unbelievably friendly; it makes the experience worthwhile. The ambience is really family friendly and the inside is really clean. They open earlier at 8am, so it's super helpful for people that have kids that wake up super early. We got the breakfast burrito and the macadamia nut pancakes and both were really good. The breakfast burrito is a little different with the Portuguese sausage but I'm a fan. The pancakes were the star of the show though. The cream topping that comes with the pancake is absolutely delicious. I can't speak more highly of the staff that work here. They are excruciatingly slow. Order ahead if you can. Almost an hour for 3 mini shaved ices.

This is not how you run a business when a customer leaves unhappy. We had ordered 6 malasadas, and returned home to only find 4 malasadas in our bag. We made the drive back just to get the other two they didn't give us. "Sorry" was not enough to make up for the wasted time and gas over these malasadas. As for the malasadas, we got filled, glazed, and regular. The filled ones are soggy. The regular ones aren't fresh. When we returned to get the two they forgot, I saw them pulling premade malasadas out of a box. That's definitely not "fresh malasadas". That explains the malasadas not being crispy or hot. I'm so glad I finally got a chance to stop into Aloha Platez which up until a few months had a different name, Aloha Pizza, so if that's what you're familiar with this is it. You walk into an open and airy space that's crowded in the best way possible, with boxes of goods stacked, merchandise for purchase on the counter and on a wall, and colorful decor; a welcoming place. Immediately you're welcome with a friendly "hello". Since this was our first time visiting I had checked out the menu ahead of time and decided that my friend and I were going to share a pizza and wings. Yes, you can order a "traditional" pizza but you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not trying one of their Aloha Signature Pies; we got the Da'Pele Pizza (cheese, pepperoni, Portuguese sausage, bacon, jalapeños, and pineapple), BBQ pineapple wings, and two malasadas for after (one coconut, one guava). Everything was exceptional! The pizza was indeed sweet and savory (one of my favorite flavor combos). The dough was great, not too chewy, but not stiff. I like my wings a bit well done (so that's how I'll order them next time) and Aloha makes theirs on the chewy side (you know, where the skin has that nice layer of texture to it) the sauce and the pineapple pieces really made these a treat. when we were finally done eating it was malasada time! The filling isn't cream based but jello based, no complaints from us and we can't wait to come back. Aloha Platez sells lunch plates and breakfast so there's a meal for you no matter your craving! The staff was super friendly. You order at the counter, you're given a table number and your food is brought out to you. As you're eating various members come around to ask how you're doing, if you need anything, a refill on your drink. My favorite pizza style is thin crust with pepperoni and pineapple and while I know I could order that here I'm happy that there's a pizza place in Gardena that's doing something "different" with flavors. Recently the torch passed to the Aunty Maile's team, which is a restaurant I drive to even when I don't live in the south bay. I'll be coming by more. The crust always has run a little dry for my taste, and that's the same so far. The breakfast pizza is a fluffy egg delight with your choice of meats, although be warned it's tomato sauce-less and we did not get green onions like I saw on social media. Malasadas have gotten added to the menu, and they're amazing plain. Light, fluffy, slightly bready gems with a light coating of sugar for a not too sweet treat.
