    Hamburg set
    Heather H.

Love mom and pop Japanese places in the southbay! This one is also a gem. The woman in the restaurant is the most adorable and kind! Got the sukiyaki, Hamburg set, and special combo. All came with bean sprouts and a small salad. All were delicious but the Hamburg was surprisingly super yummy! it's more of a takeout place, so calling in orders is beneficial.

It's been a while since we have been at Teri's Place. Came back on 7/25/25. The lady is nice and friendly. She works hard as she is the only one at the front. It is not a very big restaurant more like to go type. But they do have some tables available for those who want to eat in. We ordered the special which comes with a little of everything. We ordered the beef short ribs as well and karaage and tempura. My kids ate up the short ribs and karaage before I could take a picture. Prices are reasonable for the portions. They are busy and rightfully so! It is one of our favorite Japanese restaurants in the Gardena area. They take credit cards as well. Restaurant is clean and updated. Looks like they've remodeled recently. They also have lots of options and specials posted on the wall so make sure to look around and get everything that sounds delicious!

    Karaage Chicken bowl - yummy!

Food ordered: -Special Combo - Karaage (fried chicken) is pretty good! Marinated beef are strips of thin grilled beef which is also very good since I can taste the "grill/char" on it. Both meats are surprisingly moist, not dry. Side of rice and bean sprouts. I rarely eat bean sprouts but they mix it with a sauce that makes it tasty, gives another crunchy element to the combo. It also comes with croquette (deep fried mashed potato) and wontons. Ask for pepper flakes on the side to add on top of it if you want a little kick. -Marinated beef bowl -Karaage bowl Japanese cuisine run by an older couple. Closed Mondays. I always call in my order during lunch and it's ready in 10 mins. Small shop - more for take out.

I've been coming to Teri's place since I was young, and the owners there are so hard working. It always looks like it's the 2 of them constantly answering phones and cooking. It's a pretty small restaurant that used to have a couple tables, but when Covid happened, it became a takeout place instead. The prices are very reasonable and delicious! Our favorite plates to order are the special combo, Teri beef plate, and the curry!

Wonderful shop with delightful service currently only serving take-out. Clean and beautifully decorated ordering and pick-up area. Excellent and reasonable prices. The rating of this review is primarily based on the chicken combo plate, which unfortunately was a bit underwhelming. The fried chicken was juicy and overall well cooked, but both the marinated and teriyaki chicken were dry and not especially flavorful. Solid portion sizes. Overall, reasonable value for the price and will return to try other menu options based on the other strong reviews.

I love Teri's place! My go-to plates are the hamburg steak with chicken karaage and the special combo, 10/10 recommend. Everything is fresh and homemade tasting...the flavors remind me of growing up local Japanese in Hawaii. Great service and cute little place to pick-up yummy food! Call in your order and it's usually ready in about 20 minutes.

They even opened the door for us as we exited. Our food came quickly and tasted fresh and amazing. We loved all 6 handrolls we ordered. Our recommendations are the eel + tamago and the snow crab + spicy mayo. I highly recommend adding double rice to your handrolls (it's free!) We also ordered the sweet potato brulee which was the best dessert I've had in a long time. It was not too sweet and very light/refreshing tasting. We will absolutely be returning! When we arrived, we ended up waiting about 30 minutes for a table for just two people, even though there were clearly open tables inside. During that entire time, none of the staff acknowledged us or gave any updates. We were also the only ones waiting, which made it even more frustrating. After finally being seated, I asked for the 50% off menu, and that's when they told us they were already out of stock. This completely defeated the purpose of us coming in, especially since we had called ahead to confirm. This isn't the first time I've had issues here either. On a previous visit, we weren't seated despite there being open tables. Overall, the lack of communication and organization is really disappointing. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back.

When we arrived luckily there was no wait and were sat immediately. Luckily it was only a couple moments before a party of maybe 12 arrived behind us for dinner. Our host and server were helpful and efficient. We quickly scanned through their menu and decided on their combos (pork cutlet and tempura) Our trays of paradise quickly arrived and looked beautiful! ( see attached for reference ) i loved the balanced presentation and blend of flavors. Each tray had some miso, a 4 bite California roll, some rice, soba noodles, broth, wasabi and ginger. Mine came with some dipping sauce for the tempura. Considering the amount of food I was very satisfied. The tempura was gorgeously crafted with semi thin crisped batter, and a decent amount portioned. I was mostly amazed by my girlfriends pork plate. Their crisp cutlet had beautifully made with an easy crunchy exterior and soft tender pork savory to taste. All elements complimented each other perfectly. Their soba was also good quality and a nice touch to an already balanced dinner. While I was exactly stuffed after dinner, i was still impressed with their entree presentation, quality of food, calming ambiance and great service.

When we arrived for lunch, the place was quite festive with a mixture of young people, families with kids, and an ongoing lunch party with senior ladies. Luckily, we were able to get the last table, and the friendly waiter brought the water and menus right away. After browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items: Special Fish Combo (Spanish Mackerel): The Spanish mackerel was nicely grilled but lightly seasoned. It had quite a few bones, which took a little bit out of the enjoyment of the meal. The udon noodles had a very nice texture, however the broth was on the bland side. The California rolls were well made and flavorful. Tempura Combo: The shrimps were tender, however, the battered outer layer of the tempura was a tad thick and not quite airy. Like Fish Combo, the udon had a bland broth, and the California rolls were fine. Our main issue was the 50-minute wait time for the meals. As a courtesy, the restaurant definitely should have informed us about the delay.

Their soba texture and style tastes way different than your average buckwheat noodles. It isn't as thick and reminds me of spaghetti noodles. I got the soba combination with tempura and it was perfectly battered and very light. I loved the tempura here and am craving to go back. A little hack for digestion is to ask them for some soba water to drink after. They give it in a little Japanese teapot. Many of the dishes come hot or cold. My friend and I both got the yuzu chashu, but one hot and one cold. It's essentially the same, but the hot version gets slightly more broth. The yuzu flavor came through subtly, and the chashu was perfectly chewy and fell apart upon biting. The noodles were cooked perfectly, but eat fast! They tended to cook more in the hot broth as time went on. Parking, seating, and pricing may be the only downsides. I also wish we got more than three pieces of edamame. But other than that, I can see this place being a fan favorite for many!
