We've been here four times in the past month alone! The first time we stopped by, they were sold out an hour before closing, so we left empty-handed. The same thing happened on our second visit, and we were honestly heartbroken. However, Sunny (I think that was his name) went above and beyond to make sure we still got to experience their food. He kindly gave us samples of the Spam musubi and fried chicken to take home. That's 100% top-notch customer service right there! Since then, we've returned twice more with friends, and the food has been absolutely amazing. The shrimp is hands-down my favorite, and the karaage chicken with the green sauce is super addictive. I also finally got to try the crispy Spam musubi, which was unique and delicious . We'll definitely keep coming back. In fact, I'm tempted to throw a party just so I have an excuse to cater from them! The food here was pretty good. I ordered the kalua pork and shrimp. At the time, the kiosk showed that kalua and teriyaki chicken was sold out, I spoke with the front desk person and they said they did not update the kiosk when they restocked. That was bad, in any case, I ordered the kalua and shrimp. The shrimp was extra, but was pretty good. I am glad I ate right away since the shrimp was not overtly deep fried (this means the sauce on top was going to drench it, making it a soggy deep fried batter if I did not eat right away). The sauce it comes with is not bad, it seemed like a flavorful batter. The pickled onions were not a palet cleanser, but was sweet and went well with the kalua pork. The pork itself was definitely on the saltier side, I would not recommend eating this without the rice! It was that salty! Together it was good. They put on a lot of rice, no substitutes like Mac salad unfortunately. This is a great location because there are so many different food stalls in the complex. Was excited to try FAKA'S! They are not your traditional Hawaiian plate lunch spot. The two items combo I tried, Cheehoo Teri chicken and shrimp, were both extremely saucy. Also, the plate was more than enough for two people. I appreciated the addition of the pickled onions which cut through all the fried, saucy food. The Mac salad was good but it had a ton of peppercorn on top. Didn't care for the POG refresher, it was super sweet and tasted like a candle. In all, I think this is a fun place to try and I would go back to try other items. After not coming here for about a year, I decided to give Faka's another shot and I'm glad I did. The menu has definitely changed quite a bit since my last visit. There are a lot of new options and unfortunately no more chicken katsu. After my previous review, the owner actually reached out and offered to have me come back and try the food again, which I genuinely appreciated. I never took them up on the free food offer because I prefer to keep reviews honest, but the gesture still stood out to me. This time I ordered the 2-item combo with the honey sesame chicken karaage and kalua pork. The karaage was easily my favorite part of the meal. It was crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I asked for all the sauces on the side and the green sauce paired really well with it. The kalua pork was tender, but a little sweeter than I personally prefer for traditional kalua pork, so I'd probably try a different protein next time instead. I also grabbed a spam musubi, but the portions were so generous that I didn't even get around to eating it until I got home later. While I still miss the old chicken katsu, I get that menus evolve, and overall this visit was a much better experience than my previous one. read more

You place your order at the counter (you can use the ipad to order, except if you want the Fak'ed up fries, those you need to order with an employee). The shrimp - I could eat these forever. I settled on Fakas because I hadn't had island food in a long time and the description sounded amazing. So glad that I did because the food was incredibly delicious. It also comes with rice, pickled onions, kimchi, mac salad, a spam musubi, and a POGua Fresca. The kalua pork was tender and flavorful, and the chicken katsu was nice and crispy. I really enjoyed the flavor of the shrimp! It's meant to be eaten with the shell so you all that great flavor! It was definitely a good way to try a little bit of everything! The building that Faka's is in is like a mini food hall, so you walk up to the counter to order. They'll give you a pager that alerts you when your order is ready. Rice lovers, this is your spot. There's full rice under the wide part of the container for the 2-protein plate plus one of the little corner under the shrimp. If you're trying to skip rice and get double mac, they will still charge you the mac as if it's an extra side. Double check your order though, they're humans and make mistakes. They will happily correct the order and it comes out pretty quickly! I like this place, I just don't know if it's $30 good for a 2-item combo with a drink. Hubby & I came here intending to eat at Faka's, but they were closed! So, about a month later, we returned. We got the Mixed Plate with two proteins. We chose the Kalua Pork and the Chicken Teriyaki. It comes with Mac Salad, but you can get the Spicy Mac for $2 more. We also ordered a Spam Musubi because you just gotta! :) The plate looked so delicious even though it is served in a To-Go container! The food is Ono! The Kalua Pork wasn't quite as tender or moist as we've had at other establishments. I enjoyed the Spam Musubi. They package it in a small paper bag & that's not ideal. Some rice gets stuck to it. I've had it wrapped in Plastic Wrap before. That might be a better option? The Spicy Mac did have a nice little kick to it. However, I don't think it's worth the $2 upgrade cost. We always bring hot sauce with us, so next time, we'll just make the Mac Salad spicy ourselves. All in all, we'll be back again. I do want to try the Crunchy Spam Musubi, for sure! This is probably one of the best options in the enclave. The protein options are chicken (kaarage, katsu or teriyaki), kalua pork, or garlic shrimp with sides for a delicious plate. I chose the spicy chicken katsu sandwich combo with Mac salad, fries, and a pog juice for $16. So delicious and I could not finish it. They will give you a pager to let you know when your order is ready for pick up. There is a diverse mix of seating inside the food hall's common interior dining space. I suspect that the kalua pork was cooked and refrigerated until needed. The pork was a mix of shredded and chunk meat. On my plate, the chunk meat (denser) was hot outside, while lukewarm in the center. The shredded meat (less dense) was hot throughout. This suggests to me that the pork had been microwaved. This minor observation aside ... The plate consisted of shredded kalua pork served over a bed of rice. There is a scoop of macaroni salad, and a small side of slivered, pickled onion.
