And by the way that receptionist is extremely rude! I walk up to her desk and she proceeds with "what do you want?". I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone. The students there…read moreat Prairie were pretty okay, there was people that were friendly and wanted to be my friend. And there were people were flat out mean, just to fill their egos. Most of my teachers at my time at Prairie were pretty relatable and I could get along with. But there were some teachers (probably 5-6 teachers) that didn't give a shit and didn't like their job. The food variety at these schools are ass, like can you at least put some different options and not put the same thing every day. Either way, I had a great time at Prairie, and hope it will improve in the future.

I don't have children of my own at the school, so all I can review is the facilities rather than the education aspect. However, my niece and nephew are geniuses so I can only assume it's because of the education they're receiving here (haha). The facilities are awesome. I've worked in the DPS system and this school is NICE. I'm there for every concert that the Bobcat Band puts on, as well as various talent shows. They don't use an actual auditorium, but the stage that leads into the cafeteria. The stage is nice.. and we, the audience, just sit on regular chairs. I've roamed the halls and checked out the classrooms. I wish I was fortunate enough to go to school here many many years ago!!

When asked why, she said "my teachers are awesome." Beyond the amazing educators and administrators, the family involvement is amazing. I was a resident at the apartments right by Overland High School, and I saw nothing but disobedient…read morekids, and crime. My roommate (who is 25yrs old) got jumped one day (yes, durning the day) just going to the 711 right behind the apartments . He was by himself, minding his own business, buying cigarettes. When he left the store he was approached by a high school kid, asking him for a cigarette. When my roommate kept walking and said no, he was followed by 4 high school boys, one of them had a broken arm because he had a blue cast on. As they followed him home, they kept referring to my roommate as a "nigger"...he is very white. He turned around and said "I'm not a "nigger" leave me alone." (Probably with a few cuss words in there, let's be honest). Anyways, as soon as he turned around, they ambushed him. The boy in the blue cast hit my roommate repeatedly WITH his cast in the ribs, and face. The kids also stole his cell phone... Long story short, we talked to the police countless times and they never got back to us. We also made a special trip to talk to principle Lundie. Security told us he was too busy, then I became a bitch and told her I needed to speak with him RIGHT NOW...his schedule all the sudden freed up, we sat and talked to him about what happened.. and he said he couldn't do anything about it, to contact police. The teachers couldn't have cared less about you as a student or person. Not to mention a certain gym teacher there that acted inappropriateky around myself and made some highly inappropriate comments to me. I was too afraid and embarrassed to speak up. And don't get me started on the athletic programs when I was there. They talk about eligibility requirements for sports, but if you are a star athlete or going for a state title, that doesn't matter. My experience there among other things in my life made me glad that I never had children because I wouldn't want them to go through what I went through there. I said what I said.

If you have a child that is in the aurora or Denver area that is in high school or is registering to a high school in august, I really recommend Hinkley high school to be a good choice for you and your child.
