We enjoyed this campground but feel it's fair to forewarn all who have reservations that there are NO campfires - no wood, no charcoal, etc. Only propane. When we got there, the campground host told us this like we should have known it. He said an email was sent out. I went through my emails, and the only email I had from recreation.gov was one that said we COULD have campfires in the ring. I ended up showing that to a forest ranger and even she said that that was confusing and a mistake. So make sure to do your research! Funny enough, when we were driving and got to the 80, I got an email TODAY saying that fire restrictions said no fires from 10/12-10/14 - so funny. Irony! All in all, beautiful campground and beautiful lake and bathrooms were super clean. But more info on the fire situation would be helpful! We would have packed differently!

Camping right next to the lake is purely magical! The campground is huge, clean, quiet, easy access, and full of nature. Do need reservations as the spots can be filled up quite fast. Highly recommend it to all!

    Camp site

Camping site was very close to lake and was very beautiful, however, we were threatened by the ranger to have sheriffs kick us out for playing board games and music(which was not loud at all) at 3 pm. We followed rules from day before and did not make any noise outside of allowed times.

We camp here usually a few times a season. We have been for at least 14 years!! It's a great campground for both tent camping and RV camping. I do wish they had hook ups for RV camping but they do have onsite toilets for those that need it. Most sites are very private and spacious and you don't feel on top of each other. They also have very highly sought after sites on the water. You have to book early has they do fill up quickly!! Years ago they had a small camp store that is no longer there. I do wish they would bring that back as it is quite a drive if you forget something.

The camp ground was clean. The bathrooms even for a hole in the ground were clean. Only the trash dumpster was full and took 2 days to empty out. We had deer come right up to us and tons of chipmunks. The water is legit a few steps away and it was nice. Mosquitoes are out and going nuts and it's very very dusty. But I mean most of Cali is duty at camp grounds.

    Skunked!

We picked this spot past the campground. It was picture perfect. Conditions too good to be true, as a fisher lady, no winds and cool temps! We were the only ones on the bank . A couple of people fishing off boats. A nice, easy slope to walk down from the car. Finally getting to put our $300 fishing licenses to good use.! My ideal scenario: No talking ( my competitiveness comes out), no unleashed dogs running around without owners in sight , no wind and cool temps! As I was watching both my poles in the water, I noticed the boats weren't getting any kind of action... hmmm... they are in the middle, and deeper water...oh well I'm enjoying the moment.. I packed us a few snacks, and after a while some of the boaters started pulling in and leaving.. If they aren't having any luck, and we aren't getting any bites, it was a good sign... Glad we were able to relax for a few hours and appreciate Mother Nature.

The campground is kept clean and is beautiful. I stayed at camp site 96, which is close to the lake access (even with the water lower). There is some shade, but the sun hits pretty hard throughout the day in most of the site. I liked how there was a BBQ pit and a firepit with a grill attached to it. This site was close to the bathroom, a couple minutes away. The down part, there wasn't a bear locker, so you would have to keep your food in the car (which is not a good idea either). Overall, this was a great campsite, and we enjoyed our visit.

Clean campground with plenty of shade... no rv hook ups!

Campground is kept very clean and have lots of shade. Staff are friendly! I was greeted kindly at arrival they answer questions and also told me about the nearest dump station just little way down from the campground.. No cell phone service here (Verizon)

Upon arriving in Greater Sacto from SoCal on Friday 7/14, after trailering a pop-up and hauling 3 kayaks, 3 kids, my bride, 4 ice chests, 7 boxes of self-split firewood, and a 75 lb. pit bull mix named Sadie (aside: she used to be this homeboy's lady) up the rollercoaster of potholes that is the 99, I opened my email to discover that those wonderful human beings over there at Recreation.gov decided to let me know at 4:30 P.M. THAT DAY that my reservations for Lassen National Park from 7/16-7/22 had been cancelled. Mind you, we made these reservations months ago, and these soulless morons couldn't figure out how to let me know earlier. Allegedly, there was "tree danger" there... not sure what that means, but I'm assuming it has to do with the snowfall this past winter, access to the campsite, and perhaps their inability to plan ahead anything much more complicated than a dog's breakfast. Calling the toll-free number in the email was utterly useless, although the complete lack of compassion offered by the phone operator did serve to raise my blood pressure even further. Her supervisor was more kind, but equally helpless to solve our dilemma. Recognizing that I was mere seconds away from going on a shooting rampage through the streets of Roseville, Mrs. Picante-- pragmatist that she is-- got on the computer and started looking for the needle in a haystack: a 5 day reservable campground within 4 hours' drive, with a one-day lead time. If you've ever tried to make camping reservations in CA, you understand how futile this can prove to be. Miracle of miracles: she found a 5-dayer at Logger Campground, right on Stampede Reservoir west of Reno, and I felt a little better. On Sunday, we endured a 20 mile backtrack due to the road closure, but eventually took some country roads to arrive at Logger. In short, I was so pleased! Desolate, deep Pondersosa pine forest ringed a beautiful alpine lake (well, reservoir). The campsites are situated in half a dozen one-way loops. Like most places in California, no hookups to speak of, but long, wide pads for setting up your camper or trailer, and large sites for tents or just running around. Pit toilets aren't always awesome, but these were cleaned daily and well-maintained. A water spigot was the only available water, but easier than bringing your own. Campsites feature a fire ring and a BBQ; we used both extensively. The camp hosts in our loop were sweet to my kids and very friendly. The campsite is situated on the Emigrant Trail, which rings a portion of the lake. Generally easy shore access around the lake, and with all the snowmelt, the water was very high. Great for kayaking, fishing, and water sports. Not a lot of meatheads out there with dragboats, either... again, pretty desolate with 13 miles of one lane bumpy road between our campfire ring and Hwy 89. ORV access roads were advertised, but we didn't see a lot of that either. Instead, we saw Ospreys hunting for trout and Kokanee salmon, a doe with twin fawns, and plenty of squirrels. Cell service is spotty-- a slight problem when the group of teenagers next to us one night started blowing things up in their campfire at 3 AM... but then, I was a kid too, once. And kudos to them, they actually came over and apologized for their noise the next morning. Who knew? In any event, we really enjoyed this campsite, and doubly so because of our last minute change. Special thanks to Mrs. Picante for pulling the hat trick while I sat there pouting. It seems the age old third grade debate is closer to being answered: girls are better than boys.

It was our first time camping here. This is a hidden gem campground in Sierraville, California. Great place to spend family time or with a group of friends. There's lots of activities you can do here - boating, jet skiing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, and ATV. We weren't too far from the shore that we were able to carry our kayaks to the water. There are no showers there, but they do have restrooms. For RVs,there are no full hookups, just dry camping. The sites are big for larger RVs, and spacious that you're not to close to your neighbors. We stayed at Logger Campground for the 3-day Labor Day weekend. If you have a car, you could drive to the nearest KOA and pay $5 per person to use their showers. The campsites has plenty of shade from the pine trees. There's no wi-fi service in some spots of the campground. For the rate of $23 per night, it's a great deal. We'll definitely be back camping here next summer.

It's a beautiful place, but I had a few issues on my last particular trip. First, all the host staff that I dealt with were VERY rude and accusatory. My space (102) was advertised for a 30' RV plus 1 vehicle. My RV is 24' and barely fit, which didn't allow my vehicle to be parked on the pavement easily. Immediately after unhooking, several staff rushed over and literally screamed at me telling me I needed to park on the pavement or that I'll be fined and towed. I had 2 wheels on torn up dirt, barely off the pavement. I debated them stating what their site advertised, to no avail. So, I ended up getting my truck between two large trees and an inch from my RV to make it work because the main road is a good distance from the campground. I made it work, but the way the staff treated me was disrespectful and rude to say the least. My group had several other brushes with the staff and said the same thing with their encounters. You'd think that being a host at this campground would be a vacation-like work and total utopia but apparently not. My other issue is because the lake is a over a hill a ways from the campground, they only have one small parking lot that they make you pay extra to use, even if you're staying there. We got yelled at for taking 2 minutes to unload our beach stuff. So, a loading zone would be nice. Not sure if I'll be back, there's plenty of other campground where I don't get disrespected.
