'Ello chaps! Florida is all about the water and preserving our beautiful natural resources. That's why I LOVE Loggerhead Marinelife Center in Juno Beach. They're a turtle rehabilitation center that offers up close encounters to see rehabbing turtles. You get to see and connect with turtles. They also offer an array of educational programs, beach clean up and turtle tours. There is no "admission fee" but there is a suggestion donation of $5 per person, well worth it. There is also a little play area for the children. It won't take you long (no more than half hour or so) to go through the complex. It's a nice brief tour but great for visitors, locals and especially kids. read more

Best place EVER. I've never seen a sea turtle so close! The staff was helpful offering up basic facts about the facility. They really seemed to care about the turtles. The facility keeps getting better as the years go by! The facility is small but just has so much substance that it makes up for it! It's also free to get in but donations are always appreciated. Not only that the gift store had a large variety of adorable turtle merchandise so definitely check it out! Not a place to spend all day bit definately a good stop for animal lovers and families with kids. Admission to this place is at will donation based and does an amazing job at explaining the story and care of each turtle. There are about 8 to 10 tanks with one or two turtles in each tank. There is a plaque describing each turtle's story and there were about 4 or 5 workers there caring for the turtles and teaching everyone about the turtles. There is a gift shop and a turtle hospital you can look at through a large window. There is a small snack stand and an educational area about turtles and marine life pollution. Plan on spending about an hour or 2 at the most (unless you really get talking to the workers) but I can't see this as an all day attraction. Please donate as this place is self funded. read more

This is a great place to visit! They have tours during the day (check their website first) that are only $7/adult. I believe that the tour teaches you everything about the turtles they rehabilitate as well as their facility and the work that they do. I arrived about an hour before a tour so I just viewed their facility by myself. In the entrance, they have a informative room about sea turtles: the different species, their habitat, etc. On the other side, there is a cute little gift shop. On the back of the entrance is where all the rehabilitating turtles reside in their large water tanks! They each have their own name and bio in front of their tanks, as well as how they are recovering and progressing. Visitors can "adopt" turtles too, which I think means that you can be present at the releasing when the turtle fully recovers. My only regret is that I didn't know about this place before my visit to Florida! My friend heard just a few days before my visit that they had hatching release tours, but unfortunately all the reservations were full! That would have been an amazing experience, so definitely look into that if you can! read more

Dad and Mom enjoy seeing our children run and play, and of course, learn how to keep our turtles/beach more safe/clean. What a great place for all ages. The center is doing great work in rehabilitating turtles and returning them to their natural environment. Visitors can see all parts of the care that the residents get, veterinary care, medication and feeding. Kids will love seeing the many kinds of turtles that are there. Come in yesterday with my daughter. She love looking at all different kind of fishes and turtles! She even saw two of them out on the stretcher where they had to have medicine. This was such a great place to take the kids. We were on vacation from MA. This was so educational that we don't see back home since there's rarely sea turtles. They have a trail in the back of their lot that leads right to the ocean that we really enjoyed. Just watch out for the spiders hanging from the trees! read more

I have been here a handful of times with my real kids and my school kids. I think it's a great little stop to educate our little ones about the danger of littering. It's hard when you actually see the result of a plastic ring being tossed in the ocean and trapped around a turtle. The staff are all very knowledgeable and patient with children. I definitely recommend stopping in if you are in the area, but you won't want to stay more than 30 minutes. read more

This place is simply amazing! I hosted a Paint N Drink Event here in January, and the staff was so helpful and knowledgeable. They put together a wonderful presentation prior to the start of my event, discussing the many turtle species they encounter. The presentation included a slide show, and turtle specimens! It was interesting and informative!! The event room is huge, and absolutely beautiful! They even put out littls snacks. The staff was nice enough to help me set up, I do appreciate that. This marine-life center is absolutely wonderful. Keep in mind this is a rescue facility for these beautiful sea animals. It is free to the public in which they ask for a $5.00 donation. Completely worth $5.00 in supporting their mission or caring for these turtles. The volunteers are extremely knowledgeable and we got to meet 9 sea turtles who are undergoing care; besides lots of new hatchlings. The facility is remarkable and their mission is huge. The hospital, learning center, and outdoor areas are clean and viewable to visitors. Their volunteers are committed in sharing their knowledge and to the turtles. They have turtle walks daily during nesting season. The center has a drop off location for closed hours for those who may find an injured, sick, or new hatchling needing care. They offer adoption for those turtles which they are nursing back to help and they expect a full recovery to their natural habitat. Definitely a place we will visit each year when we come to Florida and support. read more

We went to Dr Logger's class about sea turtles and although most of the people were families with young kids (who were very engaged), we were full blown adults and laughed and learned a lot as well! I love turtles. I love turtles! I love...the marinelife center takes in wounded animals and rehabilitates them. I wish it weren't necessary but with boat traffic and other hazards, these hapless aquatic animals will sometimes suffer injuries. The largest of these sea turtles, the Leatherbacks, can grow to be 1500 pounds. They are critically endangered. In places where the eggs are eaten, such as Thailand, they are all but extinct. This place would be great for young children. They have volunteers who help care for the turtles in the pools. The center costs nothing but donations are encouraged. If you are feeling generous, you can adopt a turtle for a small amount. You'll get a photo, certificate, and the knowledge that you've helped a threatened and endangered species. The center has a full veterinary hospital. Why should we care about endangered species? Ecological health depends on variety. In general, the more variety of plants and animals, the greater the ecosystem has in recovering from external forces (drought, fire, diseases). Our oceans are reverting back to their less biologically productive ancient state in which Jellyfish and sponges reigned. One in six people depend only on fish for a primary protein source. There will be virtually nothing left to fish from the seas by the middle of the century if current trends continue. Stocks have collapsed in nearly one-third of sea fisheries, and the rate of decline is accelerating. read more

Wow, if I could give this place 10 stars I would. We booked a special evening tour online and honestly it was worth every penny. We got to go ~behind the scenes~ and get up close to the outdoor turtle tanks as well as see the inside of the hospital itself. Enya was an amazing tour guide and answered all of our questions. We loved the tour so much we came back the next day to see the turtles again! It was awesome to see the hospital in action. We learned so much and I even adopted one of the sea turtles. We can't wait to see the expansion when it is complete and to see the turtles again the next time we are in Florida. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. I've been visiting the Marinelife center since I was a wee little thing- back when it was a tiny little house with a few rooms inside and big yellow tanks out back. Now the center is on a whole new level! A great educational room with huge tanks full of sea life, multiple rooms for staff and the inner runnings, the tanks out back, and the tasteful gift shop- all perfect. Everything from the staff to the buildings to the gorgeous tanks outside are so amazing, it really warms my heart to see such great progress and care the center offers to visitors, human and turtle alike. I always look forward to meeting the resident turtles at the time and learning a little more than I did about these cool creatures. I can't say how many good memories I have of the center- I'll continue to visit for years to come! read more

Fantastic museum & nature center. The exhibits were quite interesting and fun, but the real attraction is the turtle rehabilitation area outside. While it's sad that these beautiful creatures need help after run-ins with high-speed boats, fishing nets and powerplants, the work being done by the good people at Loggerhead makes you hopeful and proud. They're really making a difference, and it's extraordinary to be able to watch up-close while the staff cares for their "patients." Aside from being a great place to visit and bring children (and out-of-town guests), this institution is 100% deserving of everyone's support. read more

This center is simply amazing. The work the staff do to help the turtles and educate the public is very commendable. I was visiting my bro in Jupiter and he brought me here just as "something to do to pass time", but we were both surprised how much I loved it. I really enjoyed reading all about the sea turtles and I made sure to read every single sign and chart. Even more so, I loved seeing the turtles up close, especially the tiny baby turtles who were just so adorable. It saddens me to know that the reasons why each turtle is held at this facility but I have hope and faith that they are well taken care of and (most) will return to the ocean as soon as they're better. What impressed me the most was the staff patiently explaining to the Summer camp kids all about the threats turtles face and the need for conservatism and how each one of them can do to help the turtles. Education is very necessary and it starts with our next generation. Definitely a great activity for families, for groups of friends, for couples, for the young, old and in between. Entry is free but they recommend donating $5 (at any time during your visit), and once you recognize the efforts that goes into turtles conservatism, you'll find that you can't help but add a few more dollars to do your little part to help out. read more

We took my niece here last Friday (4/10) around 10:30am and had a great time! Parking was pretty full because there was a nature hike scheduled, so we parked in the third lot and walked to the marine center. Since the nature hike was about to start, the marine center was packed, but soon spread out once the hikers went outside. Luckily there was a little field trip tour going on, so while we explored in the small inside museum area, we got to overhear all the interesting sea facts! We headed outside and had fun looking at all of the turtles and reading about each of their stories. They have a couple of plastic turtles and starfish in a small area, which my 2 year old niece loved climbing all over. We spent about 45 minutes exploring the marine center, then walked around the fence out back and played at the Loggerhead playground. Between the marine center, nature trails, playground, picnic area, and beach access, we could have easily spent a day here! The marine center is not huge, but what they do have is nicely done and there are plenty of employees/volunteers around to answer any questions or give a wealth of information. Loggerhead, Green, and Leatherback sea turtles nest along the shores of Southeastern Florida. Rarely, though, do residents or tourists get the pleasure of seeing these large, beautiful creatures up close or of understanding more about their nature. The Marinelife Center is a wonderful, bright facility housing a handful of sea turtle patients each day. Turtles are brought in by rescuers and given the medical care they need to be released back into the wild. Visitors to the Center get the privilege of seeing the turtles up close in their hospital tanks, reading their individual rescue and rehab stories, and exploring a nicely done exhibit about the local aquatic residents. A large themed gift shop offers everything imaginable from sea turtle-inspired coffee tables to children's books, jewelry to wildlife DVDs. The new, state-of-the-art facility offers play spaces for children, shady places to sit, as well as a museum-quality exhibit, meeting spaces, and nice bathrooms. The visit is free, with a suggested donation of $5, and you can walk from the parking lot to an adjacent playlot for children or across the street to Juno Beach, one of the areas most beautiful beaches. The Marinelife Center is a must-see for tourists and residents alike. Getting to see their rescue efforts in action is inspiring, and knowing the turtles you see are on their way back to the wild is worlds better than any aquarium encounter could ever be. read more
