Rented bikes and had a nice, hot experience in July. It's easy to get lost. Use a map at visitor center. Thanks for a spot to refill my water bottle, but I should have brought more ice. I'm glad it wasn't too buggy. We didn't see alligators. Canoers, kayakers & boarders on the water said they saw gator(s), but we never did. So, I don't recommend renting bikes if you want to see gators. Many people visit the area and bring their own kayaks & body boards. Don't dress to impress. This is a true nature experience. 4 stars cuz bikes can be dirty, one lady had her chain fall off & we helped her & my husband's handlebars loosened up & had to start walking his bike. I guess the only way to get help on the trail is to call their rental center, so don't leave the area without asking how they can help & meet up in case your bike is not rideable. I rode back & had a worker take him a new bike, but I had to show him where he was. It was a nature experience! There is a waiver to sign before you rent. Maybe their fine print gives information about how to deal with problems on the trail? I didn't read it thoroughly, I thought it focused more on the late fee. read more

We rented a bike on a Friday and the next day a two-person kayak. Both days the staff was very friendly and helpful. The cruiser bike was almost new and a good ride around this great park. The two person kayak was fine though the life jackets were a bit damp & smelly. Even though we were late returning the kayak they did not charge us extra. The only real downside was the high prices for both rentals. We rented both bikes and kayaks in places like Sanibel and Key West and the prices here were much higher. And it is the only place that still has you filling out liability forms. This park is really best enjoyed by bike and kayak so if you don't have your own this is the only place in the park to get the gear. read more

We reserved via website a four hour canoe rental for two people. Definitely consult the website and it answers many questions. The center is located just within Riverbend Park. The canoe, paddles, and PFDs were in good shape. The canoes had back rests installed. All staff we met were friendly and explained the paddle route (a waterproof map is provided). The check in area (I highly recommended reserving as it became busy ) is near to the launch area. There is an also nearby building with restrooms. Parking is ample. Ethan at the launch area explained directions , tips for sightseeing, handed out paddles etc. He was very enthusiastic about the Loxahatchee River and its beauty. For busy days (in season and on weekends) there should have been another employee at the launch area to help guests. The river itself is magnificent. Depending on your rental time there are different turnaround points along the canoe trail. On the way back to River Bend Park there is a current which obviously adds on time. There is much wildlife to see along the river including alligators, turtles, birds, snakes , raccoons & fish. Keep your eyes peeled for the gators as they are definitely there. It is tight paddling at some points. Majestic Cypress trees line the river. We chose a canoe for added stability. At the two dams we stopped at there are portage ramps to bring your canoe or kayak out of the water if you prefer (explained in your briefing). They are great spots to rest and enjoy a picnic lunch. Some tips are to bring a hat, sunscreen, clothes and shoes (water shoes or Crocs) that you don't mind getting wet. Bring a cooler for water and food, a dry bag for keys , money etc. (have a way to fasten it to the canoe ). Ziplock bags are great for cell phones- have pockets to put phones in when not in use. read more

Great outdoor activities. You can canoe, kayak, rent bikes, hike.. Beautiful mangroves! You'll see lots of wildlife and picturesque views. Bring a small cooler/lunch bag w snacks, water etc. you'll pass areas where you can rest and recharge. Great for family, date or friends. There's also a few gorgeous bike trails. There's no signs so pay attention to the provided instructions as you can get lost in the mangroves. I suggest going with a guide if you're a newbie. read more

I'm moving out of state and JOC is easily one of the things I'll miss the most about South Florida. The paddle down the Loxahatchee is the best kayak trip you can take in Palm Beach County. Trust me, I've tried them all! You are constantly spotting and discovering new things: from air plants to alligators! The scenery makes you feel like you're in Hawaii or another world, not near the hustle and bustle of Palm Beach. It's also a great spot because you're shaded by the beautiful cypress trees. Using a kayak from JOC to show off wild Florida to friends or just to have some alone time has often been the highlight of my day. I'll miss this place, enjoy it for me! read more

This is the best thing I've done in a long time!!! What a wonderful experience!!! I booked a two hour tandem kayak online with Jupiter Outdoor Center. The process was super easy. No extra fees for booking online. I read that we also needed to sign waivers. I was able to sign my with ease and was able to email the waiver to my friend. She filled it out and we were all set. The day before our booking I received an email from JOC with directions and what to expect. It was great. We arrived just before our appointment and the staff was so nice! They had all of our information and since we had already filled out the waivers we could go right on the river. They let us know where to go, what to do and told us to have fun. The customer experience for me was so well done! We floated down the river and we were in awe of the beauty. We saw turtles and birds. No alligators sited, we were warned we may see some and to stay in our kayak. We had the best time. It was so peaceful. When we returned they pulled us up and we headed home. My husband and I took our sons kayaking on a weekday afternoon. We were able to hop right on the water and the cost seemed reasonable too. We purchased the 2 hour option which was perfect and plenty for us. The kayaking has moments of relaxation and slight challenge with beautiful surroundings! It does get a little hot so bring water! Great! Making the reservation was wonderful and easy, the staff is friendly, and the whole expereice on the water was well worth it! We made a 9:30 reservation on a Sunday and were helped rather quickly. We did take our puppies out with us, but went ahead and just bought our own life jackets for them even though the center does have 1 or 2 puppy vests...we would have rather have been safe than sorry. Everyone was very helpful and we could not have asked for a better time! The best part it that they go ahead and help you map out your trip before you take off and point out the best little places to stop off and take a break that are semi private and quiet! read more

We had a blast on the two hour Loxahatchee River kayaking tour led by super sweet Jennifer. We saw seven alligators, many turtles, giant iguana, and blue heron on our tour. We capsized going over the tiny dam, enjoying the fresh not too cold water, and the memory we will always have from it. A quick recovery and we were on our way again. We look forward to returning and renting kayaks again. We'd do two singles instead of a tandem next time just for better maneuverability. And, plan to bike ride around the park as well. JOC has terrific long sleeve sun protective shirts - I got two - and other nice items for sale. Forget your sunscreen or waterproof phone holder? They have it. Great staff, easy, fast processing. We did the kayaking tour at 1130 am. The weather was perfect and the water was really nice. The trip was really good there was a lot of cool sites to see; fish, turtles, conch, manatees, and birds. It was easy to reserve a spot online or by calling. They have an easy process to sign the waiver online ahead of time or you use iPads to sign them onsite. They sell water onsite. There is a public parking area very close by. The guide was great. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. Could tell she lived her job. The price was really good as well. read more

I understand many of the recent reviews compared this place to their lighthouse counterpart. We never went there and can only review it as is. From the moment we parked at their location, everything was a pleasure. The young man who got us set up and then the pair who got us into the kayak were great. We took the route towards the waterfalls. We saw alligators, turtles, birds, etc. it was a great experience. Tip: hit the waterfall with speed or bad things will happen lol. We were visiting from Connecticut and were looking to kayak or paddle board. After reviewing the website and looking at all the the cool pictures from the Love St. location we decided to drive about an hour to Jupiter from Port St. Lucie. We were most excited to kayak in the blue water and hopefully spot a manatee. When we arrived to the Love St. location we were greeted by a sign that said that location was closed, so we called the number listed on the sign and were told there was another location about 20 minutes west in Riverbend Park. The park is really nice and when we got there we were able to kayak in the Loxahatchee River. A lot of the area we were kayaking in was very swampy, but we did see a lot of turtles and birds. I even got a glimpse of a baby alligator. Although we had a good time, I was disappointed to learn that the Love St. location was closed and wish that they would have updated their website with that info as we probably would have saved the drive and kayaked in an area closer to where we were staying. read more

We rented kayaks expecting to see clear blue water and manatees but instead were kayaking on a back river swamp/stream. Lots of turtles on branches and a small alligator nest was seen but that's about it. Max and Rob are always super helpful and accommodating and their kayaks and boards are always in great condition. Their website doesn't promote much snorkeling but call and they'll accommodate you. Sharon went out just for us on a Monday and we ended up having a private snorkeling tour. To begin with, the fins I was using were bothering me and she switched mine out for hers. That was enough to earn the 5 stars right there but I'll continue. She took us out from the shore and over rock piles we would have never known were there. She found so many different things for us and made sure to slow down to dive to the bottom and point them out. Our favorite were the 3 HUGE nurse sharks we saw. Who without her we would have swam away in panic thinking they were harmful but they just kinda hung out there as we watched them and swam over them. It was such an amazing experience. She was very patient in letting us go at our own pace and letting us explore. If you're in Jupiter, don't miss out on the snorkeling. It was one of the best things we did on our trip. read more
