I are there but mainly got the food to go. The food is either good or not depending on what cook is on. I have been disappointed so many times I stopped going or getting it to go. I always ordered a steak dinner to eat. And a steak dinner for my cousin. A lot of locals complained to each other but kept going back unless they finally said I'm not going back anymore.I wasn't happy with the service when I ate there. I think if they had a good cook and good friendly service they would have happy customers and customers that enjoy going and not complaining about the food and service. This place used to be good a few years back. You could get a decent burger and fries or fried fish. They also had home cooked sides. Last few times we went the service was awful and the food was overcooked. My macaroni salad was also warm so I did a hard pass on that. Most the staff seem nice but seem to take up the booths in the front so you sit in the back and there aren't any blinds open and no ceiling fans. It's really stuffy no matter where you sit. We're were working in the area and found Lois' kitchen. It is a local restaurant with plenty of options to eat. Home style ambiance. Not fancy but, nice. I ordered the chicken quesadilla with salsa and sour cream and unsweetened tea. The meal was good and hot and the tea was good too. It also came with chips. There are other options but, they are extra. There is so much to choose from that we will probably go there again if in the area. read more

Glad to find this gem in Chase City. Nice local spot yet friendly and inviting for all. Big selection of home cooking, sandwiches, pizza, and other dishes. Service was great and friendly. Price Is Right playing on TV, doesn't get any more hometown. Had chicken livers for lunch - they were amazing. Will be back to try more! read more

This is a good home town restaurant. They have a large menu which at first scared me. But have to give them credit for being able to do a good job. I have eaten here several times after work and trued something different each time, from cat fish to pork chops. Plus a good variety of vegetables. Service is friendly and fairly fast. Went here with my sisters last August. We all had the same thing, chicken liver dinners with mashed potatoes, side salads and drinks. There were only 3 of us. Our total bill was $66 and some change. The total should have only been $45.69 plus tax. The blonde at the counter kept shoving the receipt at us, saying there was a 15% mandatory tip. We had already left the tip on the table. We were WAY overcharged!! We never had drink refills and no one ever came to check on us. My oldest sister got violently ill almost immediately after we left. Never again! We were traveling through Chase City and stopped at the butcher shop and asked for a local favorite to get some lunch. The recommendation was Lois Kitchen and we were not disappointed. Two of us ordered the fish platter special and one the Stromboli. Each of us said our meal was delicious. If you have the opportunity to stop by you are in fir a treat. Let me state first that the last time we were there and ordered a fried onion petal appetizer. She walked into the kitchen and walked straight back in 2 seconds and gave it to us. Well you can not cook one that quick period. It was a left over from something else and was burnt to a crisp. Today it was my fried bologna sandwich which they cremated. Both thin slices of bologna on it were black and I tried to be decent and eat it but could not. The taste was like burnt charcoal. I mentioned this several times to the waitress and she said she would not eat it. Did not offer another replacement. They switched out waitress when I started to complain. After 4 times mentioning this the new server asked if I wanted another when we were leaving. I said no thank you since I choked on the first one literally and physically. I should have asked for the cook and said here you cooked this...lets see you eat it !! Very disappointed that a chef or cook would even let something like this come out of the kitchen. read more

My husband ordered loaded potato skins for appetizer and hamburger steak and gravy for meal.. he received ff with bacon and cheese for appetizer, and fried oysters for his meal. One star because the food was hot and fair. Went here at 7pm on a Tuesday. After you get past the trash under the landscaping bush that hasn't been trimmed in years, the front door area that hasn't seen a paintbrush in years, the inside was cringe worthy. Had to sit in a booth (okay) as we were told dining room was closed for cleaning for closing.....at 9:00pm (okay). Floor in dining area was filthy! Server was attentive, got our order right, tea was good and no wait for food (only 3 others in restaurant). Fried oyster platter and hamburger steak ordered. Oysters were good and so was hamburger steak with mashed potatoes. Bill for two was about $30. While paying.....had a view into the kitchen. That was a picture I'd like to forget. I did check on line and Lois' Kitchen did pass their last health inspection. I'm in Chase City regularly for business and want businesses there to do well!! First time eating here. Ordered the T bone steak with potato salad and butter beans. The steak was perfect and juicy. Loved it. The potato salad was also a nice country style, reminded me of home. Worst night ever! We went in there to have a nice meal and the only thing that we got out of 45 minutes waiting was 1 glass of sweet tea and NO REFILLS. Once other people were served after our arrival and our order was placed we still kept waiting till we decided to leave. We still had to pay for our teas even though our appetizer and our meals never showed up. I should have asked to speak to the management but at that point it would not have been pleasant. read more

Hubby had shrimp and broccoli, I had shrimp Ala vodka. We liked those dishes. Delicious. We tried the spaghetti and meatballs however and we were disappointed. The sauce was not to our taste. My wife and I and our two adult son, who are pretty fussy about their food, stopped by here on a whim. We were on a road trip and really tired of McD's fare. Lois's Kitchen popped up on the google when we asked for "good restaurants". My wife got the vegetable plate, I got fried fish, son #1 got the Italian dish and son #2 got the chicken strips. If there were a couple more pieces of fish, it would be five stars. If more people knew of this place, it would be a "destination restaurant". We will be back. read more
