My family has been coming to Sheldon's for as long as I have been alive. We drive from PA to visit family in the area and stay overnight in the motel. My favorite part of the trip is enjoying a delicious, made-from-scratch breakfast at Sheldon's restaurant! The weekend breakfast bar has some of the tastiest southern delights one could ask for. Fluffy pancakes, eggs, slab bacon, grits, eggs, fried apples, and the highlight of the meal, biscuits. If I could sit all day to enjoy five plates of food, I would. Additionally, dinner at Sheldon's is just as memorable, though I favor the first meal of the day. Specially, their yeast rolls are life-changers. Trust me. Sweet tea? They have the best. Fried chicken? Don't get me started. You won't be disappointed by any of their offerings. Mr. Sheldon and his family have operated this motel and restaurant for over 70 years. If you find yourself in Keysville or are in need of some serious southern hospitality, take a trip to this hidden gem.

Just good country food from the lunch buffet.

Between two people, we ordered drinks and Billy's seafood platter to share, which consisted of shrimp that you can choose the style of, fried cod and catfish, with hush puppies and cole slaw. We got the bang bang shrimp and they were on point. They were definitely our favorite thing on this platter with the size, texture, and flavor all hitting the mark. The two sides hush puppies and cole slaws were also good. The two fried fish was a little underwhelming, with the cod being a little under-seasoned and dry. The catfish was seasoned well and soft but had that sort of slightly fishy flavor to it. I liked having multiple sauces both on the platter and the table (there were a bunch of different bbq sauces, which I'm sure go better with their meat offerings) - the butter and the zing of the North Carolina hot sauce were our top two sauces of the meal. Definitely enough food for two people but I wish there was a bit more on there than just the cole slaw to suppress the greasiness of the fried fish. Service was great and they have a good sized parking lot as well. Can't say anything about their bbq since we had the fish platter but as soon as you get to the parking lot, you can smell the fire going!

Ordered to big cheeseburgers, Cajun fries, and pasta salad. Hit order, and it said one or some of the items were not available. Tried to change order. Only option that would come up,was change time of order or date of order. No options to change order options. so I started calling Easys kitchen. No answer. Called for the next 15 or 20 minutes. Answering machine said to hang up and call back or order on line. Already had my order in and credit card info. Was hoping to get an order. Kept calling and they answered. Said can you hold. So I waited about 6 minutes and hung up. Got in the car to go get takeout some where else (MacDonalds). Keep calling on the way to macdonald's, at 7:40 finally got and answer. Told the lady the trouble I hard ordering 2 burgers ,Cajun fries, and pasta salad on line. The no phone calls answered and being put on hold for 5 minutes. She said we do have the items you want. Do you want to order them. I said I'm on the way to macdonald's. By this time, I had been on this quest for 40 minutes. Did not want to order them and wait another 35 minutes for order to be ready. 1 hour and 15 minutes for an order isn't worth it to. To sum it up two problems for me. Obviously something wrong with ordering system and no phone to call and correct any descrepinices. It's ashame they have very good food at Easys. Not worth the hassle. I will order from other establishments in Amelia. I won't say I will never go back. I don't burn any bridges. May be in 6 months or so we will give them a try. Prefer to be a able to talk to a human. It was only a $40.00 or 45.00 order with the tip. I'm sure they won't mess it. And have plenty of local clientele to fill there seats.

They have a great happy hour menu, which we ordered from. Do not miss the truffle popcorn. I am still dreaming of this! Truffle oil and parmesan cheese on perfectly popped and salted popcorn. We also had the hot honey and Parmesan chicken wings which were crisp and delicious, and a harvest salad. So good. We would be here all the time if we lived close. I'm sure I could've up charged to fries or something else but wanted to save some pennies. The waitress offered sauce and I should've taken her up on it as the barbecue was a bit dry, but tasty. The service was friendly and quick. Not much to the inside as far as decor but clean. I was a bit disappointed to find out AFTER I had eaten my meal that I was charged more for not paying in cash. I understand that credit card companies may attach a fee to the use of their card. However, this should be included in the price of the CHOICE on the menu, not a surprise ending on a receipt. It could also be mentioned before ordering and/or printed on the menu above or below the raw food warning. Otherwise, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat and have cash, I can recommend the pork barbecue. Get the sauce.
