Finally checked this place out after driving by many times. Very impressed with the decor, service, and of course the food! I had a arroz con pollo and loved it (chicken fell off the bone and the rice was so flavorful). My husband and I split a slice of house made cheesecake and it was delicious too. My mother & I tried to visit this establishment but found that clients are expected to call before coming as though they are visiting a snooty childless auntie who doesn't like company, because, as we were told, they close early when they don't have any business. I will safely assume that is often, since the young lady who greeted us had no issue admitting that to us when I requested their common hours for future reference (they, apparently, have no set hours). Given that the door was open 50min prior to their advertised closing we were excited to think we may get to enjoy a libation & some small tapas, as per Spanish custom. Given that the ONLY suggestion we received from our greeter was to call before coming because they close randomly, I wished them luck as my mother & I left b/c, if a restaurant's hours change/fluctuate as often as this place's has, they'll need the luck to stay in business. I fully expect the proprietor to respond to this w/something goofy about his security camera footage, but, really, he should focus on training his staff on how to make potential client's want to return. Every time I'm in hlJalifax, I patron the sm businesses, but tonight I'm glad to be back in Maryland where restaurateurs are successful enough that their businesses can stay open as per their advertised hours & staff are polished enough to know how to make someone want to try again. What a treasure in town! My husband surprised me and took me to dinner at Paco's last night. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be. I am so happy to see new businesses coming to town, especially a restaurant like theirs. The place is just beautiful and offered the feeling of indoor/outdoor dining all in one with a fun light up bar space and glass party room in the back. The quality and presentation of the food were both wonderful and the menu definitely delivered! One thing I loved was that Paco came out and spoke to each table one by one. The attention to these little details is so important for new businesses and he nailed it. Looking forward to going back again! read more

Everything at Paco's Restaurant & Lounge was on point. I arrived with some friends and the ambiance reminded me of an upscale tapas restaurant in the soho/noho part of Manhattan. Elegant, refined, welcoming without being pretentious or stuffy. The wait staff struck that delicate balance between anticipating our needs and being too underfoot. They were amazing. We didn't want for anything our entire time there. As a former NYer, I know food. I've eaten at Michelin star restaurants in Manhattan. I'm a die hard foodie. The flavor profiles were classic. The dishes well balanced. The flavors distinct and complimentary for each component within each dish. The seasoning was absolutely perfect. I have often gone out to eat only to find that a dish is either way too salty or requires I add salt. Neither was the case at Pacos. Finally, a word about Paco. His restaurant reminds me of one of those places that feels like you're eating in a beloved uncles home. Simply because he is so welcoming. Manga manga as my Nonna used to say. Service was exceptional. Awesome atmosphere, cloth table covers, warm cozy settings. The menu and the app choices was extensive and every app sounded delicious. We got the charcuterie boatd and it was laden with delicious meats, cheeses and fruits. For the main we ordered the churrasco steak with rice, beans and a side of sweet fried plantains. Scrumptious!!! Steak cooked perfectly and loads of flavor with chimichurri - oliveoil, garlic, parsley was the perfect spice for that awesome cut of steak. Highly recommend Paco's. Food, Service, and Ambiance are all top notch. I have eaten there for lunch and dinner. The last two Saturday lunches were terrific.

My husband and I finally made it to Pacos Restaurant & lounge this past week for dinner. Unfortunately it was a very hot day and the AC didn't seem to be working very well. Our waiter was actually a runner and was very friendly but was obviously not used to waiting tables. The food was delicious! We weren't sure what to get so we got a couple of the Tapas to try and the Grouper for a main dish. Tapas we tried were the fried Eggplant, Cod Fritters, and the Ham Croquettes. The rolls they brought out before the meal were soft on the inside but with a slight crisp to the crust on the outside. The light dressing on the salad I got was so flavorful. I also tried the sangria which I'm not normally a fan of and I really liked it. Now, the Grouper was probably the star of the meal. It was was so tender and delicious! Unfortunately forgot to get a picture of that. If you haven't been, give them a try! read more

What a great new restaurant in South Boston - a Spanish influenced place. The food is wonderful. Every tapas (appetizer) I have tried has been really good. All the seafood dishes were especially tasty. The entres we tried were also very good being well seasoned and with an emphasis on fresh ingredients. You can special order paella and our latest time there we did so and it was marvelous. And if you have room for dessert, oh my. I tried the flan and it was fabulous. I'm hoping to save room some visit for the other desserts since I have heard they are wonderful as well. I would love a special cocktail list too to spark my imagination, but there is a full bar as long as you know what you are in the mood for. The decor is lovely and there is a fantastic deck with neon lights (great for photos!). Plus a room that could be used for fun private events. I'm already thinking of the holidays. Given the great atmosphere and super food, there is still another wonderful aspect of Paco's which is Paco himself. Though he can obviously get very busy, Paco tries his best to greet his guests at least sometime during the evening. I will start my honest review by stating that I am very familiarized by the Spanish and Cuban Cuisine. The food was very authentic, delicious, and it reminded me of my time spent in Spain for a month back in the 80's as an International exchange student. The quality was on point! Having also my share of Cuban food, the only complaint I have is that the croquettes where NOT authentic. I went to this Restaurant 3 times already and on different occasions. I went on their first week of opening, on a not so busy night and this past weekend when you would expect to have a busy crowd, and it was busy! The only downside is no A/C which made it extremely uncomfortable, but my rating is not based on that mishap that can happen to any business. It is on the servers themselves. The are kind, good customer service but so young and lack that customer service interaction that would make a regular come back to. Every time I asked for something or tried to interact with them they seemed deathly scared! You would ask them questions and they didn't seem to know much of the culture behind a dish. If they didn't speak the Spanish language I could tell they had a difficult time even remembering the dishes. So they had to constantly look at the menu to see what I was pointing at. Each time I came I ordered something different and I am pleased to say that I did try ALL the tapas and 3 of their main dishes and two of their desserts. I have come with my partner the first time, with my kids and partner the second time, and again just my partner and I the 3rd time. The presentation of the food is great but the plates are big in size not allowing sufficient room on a table for two. The atmosphere was nicely decorated but in my opinion is lacking lighting. I would also love it if some very soft in volume music true to the culture of the restaurant were playing in the background. Now why my 3 star review? The portions to the prices. I couldn't believe each time we received the check. I also ordered many of their side dishes and for me to pay $3.50 for 2 plantains is ridiculous. They were the size of a half dollar. Although delicious in taste they are not worth the price. The same with their sweet fried bananas. More disappointing were the croquettes, which were a quarter of the size they are meant to be and did not taste anything like the authentic Cuban croquettes. I tried all their flavors too. Except the mushroom. I also ordered the Ribeye and couldn't believe the price for just the steak. Side dishes are extra. The ribeye in my personal opinion was one of the BEST ribeye's in town! Another suggestion if you want families to visit, please consider maybe 2 items actual KIDS would enjoy. There are no options for kids. I am just mostly disappointed that EVERY Tapas I ordered was a quarter of the size it should be, especially for the price of what they are asking. Their Paella was another amazing dish, but be prepared to give an arm and a leg. I am hoping and praying the owners read my review and take that into consideration of lowering their prices AND giving WAAAYYYYYYYY more portions of food. Here in SoBo we have seen our share of restaurants closing. Remember that you are in SoBo, country folks live here and as much as we appreciate you bringing something different to the area, unfortunately it would be something that we would only go to once in a blue moon because paying over $150 for two people is insane and I was still hungry after. To leave on a positive note, the desserts have been one of the tastiest desserts my partner and I have had. They have the most delicious (crustless) cheesecake that is the best I have ever had. Just once again, if they were to sell it for $2 less then it's current price, then it would be worth it. I really hope this review is taken as an eye opening, honest, trying to help our small businesses out-type-of-way. Good Luck! read more
