From the moment we walked in, Justin made us feel right at home. He welcomed us with a smile, let us choose our table, and was friendly, witty, attentive, and genuinely made our evening special. The atmosphere is inviting with just the right touch of elegance without feeling stuffy. We started with a classic margarita for me and a beer for my husband. The margarita was so good I ordered a second! We shared the lamb stew, which was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and served with delicious mashed potatoes. The ahi street tacos were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with crispy shells and bright citrus flavors. The highlight of the meal was definitely the chicken empanadas. Crispy on the outside, packed with flavor, and one of the best empanadas I've ever had. We finished with churros and ice cream, which were delicious, although the portion was a bit too rich for us to finish. Justin's outstanding service truly made the experience memorable. I'm still trying to find the kindest words to say about this restaurant, but honestly, I can't. I have nothing against the service or the food, but the way management handled this situation was extremely disappointing. My friends and I came here to celebrate my best friend's bachelorette party. We initially tried calling to make a reservation, but we were told to book through their website, which we did a few days in advance. Before arriving at the restaurant, the friend who made the reservation called before 9 PM to let them know that we would be arriving later than expected. I also tried calling to let them know we were running late. These were multiple phone calls, and no one answered. Mind you, both of us work in hospitality, so we understand that there is typically a grace period for reservations. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the servers, who informed us that they had already closed at 9 PM. The server also told us that the manager had tried to contact us before our reservation to let us know that they closed that early. However, we did not receive any phone calls, emails, or other communication whatsoever. When we asked to speak with a manager, the server told us that the manager had already left at 6 PM. After a long back and forth about the situation, we asked the server if we could at least get a drink from the bar. He told us, "You guys can ask the bartender." Honestly, as someone who also works in the industry, having a guest ask the bartender themselves whether they can still order a drink is incredibly unprofessional. There should be better communication and ownership from management and the staff in situations like this. After doing some digging, I found out that their hours had been changed to 9 PM about nine months ago. This brings me to a few questions: 1. Why hasn't the website been updated properly, and why were we even able to book a 9 PM reservation if the restaurant closes at 9 PM? 2. After a reservation is made, shouldn't guests be notified immediately if the restaurant's operating hours have changed? 3. Why should I have to search through a social media post from nine months ago to find out that the restaurant changed its hours? I'm not even looking for anything from the restaurant by writing this review. I simply want to bring awareness to anyone who doesn't live in the area and is planning to visit. I work at a high-end restaurant in Beverly Hills, so I understand the standards and expectations that come with hospitality. Mistakes happen, but it's how you communicate and handle those mistakes that makes the difference. Please do better. read more

First time in La Quinta and very impressed with this place. The food, drinks, and service were all amazing. Our server, Justin, was fantastic--attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. He had great recommendations and made sure everything came out perfectly. The steak skewers with chimichurri were incredible. Kids loved them and left no food on their plates. The cocktails were also impressive. Much better than any Los Angeles bar I've been too lately. Everyone at our table ordered something different, so I ended up tasting four different drinks, and every single one was excellent. The jalapeño margarita was hands down the best I've ever had--perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat. The watermelon vodka cocktail was delightful and refreshing, and the cucumber refresher was crisp, light, and perfect for a warm evening. Went to Old Town and was pleasantly surprised to see that Tequilas was gone and a new restaurant was opened here! (Tequilas was never a favorite). My husband had empanadas, I had beef skewers with saffron rice, and our friend had Ahi tacos. We had avocado fries for the appetizer. My friend didn't like the tacos, but my husband and I really enjoyed our dishes! The avocado fries were delicious! The food was plated beautifully, and our server was extremely good! It's so much better than the past, where the Tequilas servers acted like they were doing you a favor. The re-decorating was nice too. Definitely coming back! read more

Great place for a night out in La Quinta Village. The place feels upscale yet casual at the same time. Romantic setting with soft dim light but not too dark. Food is really good and best to be shared. - beef skewers (5/5): really tasty but the yellow rice is the star as it's super tasty and cooked to perfection - sishito peppers (4/5) - avocado fries (4/5) - paella (4/5) - comes with plenty of seafood (muscles, clams, fish, shrimp, scallops) and sausages. Didn't know what to expect here, everything tasted delicious. The Peruvian Chicken Skewers were super juicy, and the rice was flavorful. The Brussels Sprouts were honestly addictive. Loved the Ahi Street tacos, so fresh and full of flavor. The Manchego & Fig combo was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. The Grilled Rib Tips were tender with a nice smoky flavor, and the Paella was hearty and really hit the spot. The Papaya Quinoa added a lighter, refreshing touch, and the Empanadas were warm, flaky, and so good. For dessert we ended with Churro Vanilla Ice cream which was the perfect sweet finish. I am giving Lola's at the Cove 2 stars after our disappointing meal a couple of nights ago. My husband and I were looking for somewhere to have a nice dinner and found Lola's on yelp. When we walked in, we weren't sure if we went in through the wrong door because there was a gentleman who saw us come in, but did not greet us. When we asked him if we could be seated, he told us to sit anywhere except at one particular table. The table for 2 was too small so he said they had booths in the bar and we could go there, so we walked ourselves over to a booth. We ordered drinks - my sandía smash was pretty strong, and a few small plates per our server's suggestion. We ordered the beef empanadas, the avocado fries, and the steak skewers. The avocado fries were bland and we just didn't care for them. My husband and I agreed that the empanada filling tasted like the ground taco meat you get at Del Taco or Taco Bell. The steak skewers were actually pretty good though. The server mentioned to us, and I also heard her tell the couple at the table next to us that the restaurant used to be a Mexican place but that now it's a Spanish Tapas place. I feel like this can give the impression that it didn't work out as a Mexican restaurant so now they are trying a Spanish restaurant. I also felt like the menu didn't fit the Spanish Tapas theme, it was kind of all over the place with ahi tuna tostadas, cioppino, and Peruvian chicken. Overall, it totally missed the mark and was a disappointment. The only good thing about this place was our server, "Z". She was definitely a one-woman show - bartending, hosting, and serving all on her own because she was the only person working the entire bar area. The food was excessively salty, and when we brought it to the attention of our waitress, both she and the manager were rude and dismissive. Rather than taking the time to understand the issue or address our concerns, they seemed uninterested and made us feel like our complaint was an inconvenience. Mistakes can happen, but the way a restaurant handles a customer's concern says a lot about the overall experience. Shoutout to Cameron, our server, who was so lovely and super attentive all night. Really great service here and we were impressed with how quickly each dish came out. Service was definitely 5/5. For those of you who haven't been yet, the menu is tapas style (small bites to share) so you can try a little bit of everything...dangerous for someone like me who wants it ALL lmao. Here's what we ordered: Baja Ceviche - insanely fresh shrimp & mahi mahi with cucumber, jalapeño, onion, cilantro, and avocado. We kept going back for this one all night. 5/5. Lola's Chicken Empanadas - slightly softer texture than expected, but sooo flavorful and perfect for sharing. 4/5. Ahi Tostadas - fresh, bright, and balanced with just the right kick from the chipotle mayo. 5/5. Avocado Fries - the MVP. Crispy, addicting, and paired with sauces that we couldn't stop dipping into. I will order these EVERY time. 5/5. Brazilian Steak Skewers - perfectly marinated with chimichurri and a great savory balance to all the seafood. 4/5. And don't skip the cocktails....we ordered pomegranate mojito and a cucumber cooler. Both were a 5/5. Each drink was refreshing, gorgeous, and dangerously easy to drink. High five to the bartender because these drinks rocked. Safe to say, Lola's exceeded our expectations and already has us planning our next visit. My tips are 1. Definitely make a reservation, they are the hot spot in old town right now (rightfully so). 2. Come with the mindset that it's an experience and is a little pricey ($150 for five tapas and two cocktails). 3. Make sure to share! It's the best way to experience this kind of food. This relative newcomer to Old Town La Quinta is off to a good start. The ambiance is simple and fresh and the service is delightful and efficient. The cioppino was delightfully delicious with fresh seafood and a fennel infused broth that made every bite an obsession! The Parmesan crusted garlic bread made my night! On the other hand, the olives and the ahi tostada both need a little refining to be really good. They were both drenched in multiple sauces and components so none of the flavors had a chance to shine and neither were really enjoyable because of the competing flavors and textures. The cocktails were lovely and the wine and beer list are both reasonable. The paella appeared to be the star of the menu but we didn't partake due to our group's dietary restrictions (pork). We celebrated a birthday here this Friday, and the staff was amazing. They definitely went above and beyond, especially our waiter, a young man with gauges, and the front staff member, a younger woman with tattoos. Huge shoutout to both of them. I did not get their names, but they were incredibly accommodating and allowed us to set up birthday props, which we really appreciated. The food was phenomenal. I highly recommend the Spanish paella. Grateful that this place was able to accept us as a walk-in considering it was a Sunday around lunch time and there was some sort of art festival nearby as well as a farmers market with vendors separately here as well. We originally were trying to go to RoadRunner, but they quoted us (5 adults and 3 kids) to be over an hour wait which we were not about. We were sat outside and overall service was prompt, but our server was a bit awkward/weird. Other employees who brought food or drinks were generally nice and welcoming though. I must say that I found everything here to be extremely overpriced. I ordered Ahi tacos and they really were a bit bland and I didn't enjoy them much. For $23 for small tacos, I was still hungry and expecting more flavor I tried someone else's tostada and liked it a bit more. Others at our table were left hungry afterwards as well. The overall consensus was very meh. I also feel like there was a food runner who consistently kept asking if we were done and if they could take away plates which got annoying because we were still working on our food. I might go back for a cocktail or something on the patio, but the food overall was just average at most. read more

Not a drink left empty, not an empty plate in our way, not a dish finished before asking if we'd like another. Service was mind blowing. Tapas style, so great for the party that has differing tastebuds and dietary restrictions. Tasty too! High quality is the best adjective for it. We shared the crispy Brussels sprouts, jalapeño artichoke dip, and the Brazilian steak skewers--which were the star of the night and so tender! For our mains, my friend loved the tortilla soup, and I highly recommend the cioppino. The ambiance is quiet and intimate, making it perfect for a date night. Just keep in mind that when the restaurant gets busy, voices tend to echo off the walls. Also, because the food is served tapas-style, the tables can feel a bit small once all your dishes arrive.
