Cold crab cakes that wouldnt have tasted good even if it was hot, pathetic burrata salad
    Cassandra R.

We have been coming here for the last 5 years to celebrate our anniversary and unfortunately this time was the biggest let down. We were served cold crab cakes, a burrata salad (literally had two slivers of burrata on it, a shrimp cocktail that tasted over cooked and old (costcos is waaaay better) my salmon came out on such a hot plate that it took me by surprise especially when I went to take a bite and it was completely raw in the middle. It was not only raw but had a very unpleasant smell and taste. Even though our waiter was very nice and offered to have it remade we had to ask for our check because it had turned my stomach.

Pricey but delicious. The lemony Caesar was great, the veal Osso Buco and scallops both outstanding, but the corn side dish was to die for!

Waiting for a table in the beautiful bar area.

YELP SHORT ANSWER: maybe, if you're visiting and curious or a guest at the resort with credits, then yes. If it a great experience. If you're part of a conference and on an expense account then for sure. Locals maybe not so much. LOCATION: none better this. Everything is dialed and beautiful on this property. FACILITY: first class as well as the staff here. It truly is extraordinary. MENU: excellent choices as long as you don't look to the right at the prices. Order what you want but set your expectations correctly. You're at a resort. FOOD PREP: it was very nice but nothing special for my visit. However I did remind myself again, I was at a resort... it looked okay but under delivered platting for the prices charged, just food on a dish. FOOD QUALITY: we ordered a filet and the gnocchi, both resort priced. 8oz Filet was cooked consistent MR but was tasteless meat. No sear flavor at all. The gnocchi was kind of a mess but in the grand scheme of things, it was just food and money so we enjoyed ourselves and did not complain. LIBATIONS: wow, expensive! WAITSTAFF: again, exceptional service and kindness. OVERALL VALUE: if I was on an expense account I would not care but the Morgan's experience is missing the mark for this local. Did meet the new GM who was awesome and he did indeed ask how things were, I did not want to engage in my opinion as the LQ Resort brand is way beyond my little opinion, I just hope he spends his money there and evaluates the equity. This must be a difficult position if our visit was indicative of other guest's experiences. TIP: maybe try the bar in Morgan's which is beautiful and expensive, then escape and enjoy the outdoors bar for a fun $14 margarita and take it all in. Love this resort, but Morgan's is not for me.

Worth every dollar spent at this restaurant!! The service was excellent from the server, Alfonso and his helper Joel. The ambience is perfect for a date night. We got the ribeye and filet mignon. Both cooked deliciously. They gave us a free cheesecake for our anniversary!! It's was soooo good. One of the best resort restaurants we've had!!

Excellent service, friendly and professional. The venue is sophisticated and music was 60s as one may expect from an establishment from a 1926 resort. Very relaxing. The food was exceptional, we had an Sunset Special, the 2 Course Prix Fixe and our party of 3 chose each different starter, they offered a chilled soup as the Farmer's Market Soup which my daughter enjoyed, my wife was very satisfied with the Crab Cakes and I thoroughly enjoyed the Garden of Root Salad with its variety of textures. For the main course we had the Faroe Island Salmon and the Beef Bourguignon, both were excellent. Highly recommend experiencing Morgan's when staying at La Quinta.

First off the staff is super kind. The food though.. For what you're paying, yikes. Not worth it. We ordered a few things and among them were a steak, Mac n cheese, and fries. They all look like something from a bad buffet. Not worth the price at all.

    Vanilla Bean Profiteroles
    Jessica G.

We decided to try the summer special. I never had a Meyer Lemon & Watermelon Gazpacho (almost like a chilled 'soup') was surprisingly good and refreshing. The Flat Iron Steak, though, was a bit on the dry side and could have been more tender. Luckily, the Vanilla Bean Profiteroles was absolutely amazing. We also ordered Spicy Cajun Shrimp, which I enjoyed the creamy polenta. All was accompanied with a Melon Spritz. Our server, Ivan, was attentive throughout the evening, making the experience enjoyable.

Overdone Lot 29. Not medium rare at all. Second night. We did not photograph the ribeye from Monday night.

Happy Hour is 3:30-6 and there's a few dollar discount on selected food items and drinks. For appetizers, we ordered the Burrata platter and the dates. We also ordered a date burger and the following martinis: pear, pink lady, and espresso martini. This was my first time trying an espresso martini (ever) and I'm glad I waited until the end of dinner before ordering it. It's more a dessert or finishing drink. The Burrata platter was delicious and beautifully presented. The dates were good but too sweet for our tastes (yes, we are aware dates are naturally sweet, LOL). We only ate a few and saved the rest for later. The date burger and fries were delicious. The only downside was I asked for the burger to be cooked medium and it was well done. The drinks were good and beautifully presented. The ambiance and atmosphere, for this restaurant, is very upscale and unique. I will continue visiting each time I'm in La Quinta. See you soon!

Nearly every dish lacked flavor. The Caesar salad was particularly disappointing, with anchovies that tasted low quality and completely overwhelmed the dish. The short rib was mediocre at best, and the salmon was surprisingly bland and forgettable. What made the experience even more confusing were the accompaniments and sides. Several combinations felt strange and didn't complement the proteins, leaving the dishes feeling unbalanced and poorly thought out. Service was another major issue. Throughout the meal, it was difficult to get attention from staff, and the overall level of hospitality felt lacking from start to finish. For a restaurant with such a strong reputation and one of the best settings in the Coachella Valley, I expected much more. The views are worth seeing, but based on this visit, the food and service simply did not live up to the location.

When we pulled back around to the front, there were some yellow pylons near the front of the entrance and some garbage on one of the outdoor tables and it looked very dark inside as if the lights were off, we figured they had to have been closed so we drove off to have dinner elsewhere. A bit later, we get a notice from OpenTable that we did not check in so I called the restaurant the following day to ask them what happened, the nice young lady that answered the phone told us that they were open at the time of our reservation. If they were indeed open, what a turn off to have only two cars in the parking lot, pylons in front and trash stacked on the outdoor table, I can't imagine what the inside would look like or the kitchen.

Wine bar doesn't open till 5 which was when happy hour started. For the first hour, they had wine, well drinks and draft beer. A few small plates also offered. It's a wine and tapas bar. It's along El Paseo before you hit the main shopping area, depending on which way you come. Entrance has a nice wall created by ficus trees and mister spraying to keep you cool. There's a decent patio with a good amount of seating. Inside is where the party is. The place is set with two seating area. Right when you walk in is the bar. A good amount of hi top seating and tables. Hi top seating that are along the window were actually very uncomfortable. Padded seats were so narrow that seating was so uncomfortable but oh well. There's the other room seating area which houses all the wine on shelves. I believe it's also a wine store but that sectioned was closed for a private event. We just wanted a drink before dinner so no food was had. From the looks of the dishes that were coming out, they looked really nice. Tapas style dishes made for sharing. With happy hour, there was a couple dishes that was included. Also they offered a deal with a charcuterie board and a bottle included. We just went with a glass of their house red and white. And an order of spicy margaritas. It's a full bar so that was nice. Margaritas were great and house wine was decent. The service was great with the bartender who was a doll and very sweet. Made drinks and still had time to come check out on people. It was still early but it did pick up for happy hour which is from 5-6 right when they open. The place was quite nice and well decorated. Instead, she bit into a sharp chicken bone hidden in the salad--something that absolutely should never happen. This wasn't a small, soft fragment either; it was sharp enough to cause immediate, severe pain and pierced her gums. This is not just a minor oversight--it's a major failure in basic food safety and kitchen preparation. There is no excuse for serving food in this condition, especially something as simple as a salad. We trusted this restaurant to provide a safe meal, and that trust was completely broken. What makes this even worse is that the situation could have been far more dangerous. If swallowed, this could have led to choking or internal injury. No customer should ever have to worry about that when ordering a salad. I strongly urge the restaurant to take a hard look at their food prep standards and quality control, because this is unacceptable. Until then, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.
