We found this place looking for a happy hour to take out friend too that was coming into town. From the menu, it looked and sounded great. Wine bar doesn't open till 5 which was when happy hour started. For the first hour, they had wine, well drinks and draft beer. A few small plates also offered. It's a wine and tapas bar. It's along El Paseo before you hit the main shopping area, depending on which way you come. Entrance has a nice wall created by ficus trees and mister spraying to keep you cool. There's a decent patio with a good amount of seating. Inside is where the party is. The place is set with two seating area. Right when you walk in is the bar. A good amount of hi top seating and tables. Hi top seating that are along the window were actually very uncomfortable. Padded seats were so narrow that seating was so uncomfortable but oh well. There's the other room seating area which houses all the wine on shelves. I believe it's also a wine store but that sectioned was closed for a private event. We just wanted a drink before dinner so no food was had. From the looks of the dishes that were coming out, they looked really nice. Tapas style dishes made for sharing. With happy hour, there was a couple dishes that was included. Also they offered a deal with a charcuterie board and a bottle included. We just went with a glass of their house red and white. And an order of spicy margaritas. It's a full bar so that was nice. Margaritas were great and house wine was decent. The service was great with the bartender who was a doll and very sweet. Made drinks and still had time to come check out on people. It was still early but it did pick up for happy hour which is from 5-6 right when they open. The place was quite nice and well decorated. Loved the cocktail but completely forgot what it was called kinda like a cucumber mojito but with vodka. Wine flight was perfect as they have a great variety. We let our bartender pick for us and she did great. They also have a premium wine flight available. The Mushroom Truffle Flatbread was definitely the start of the show. Food portions are super small for the charcuterie, have ordered in past several times. Service is nice but this last time I went group of 2 for a girls dinner. I waited for water for more than 20 minutes and to order drinks. Super packed and overwhelmingly loud. Finally got to put in our drink and food order waited another 20 minutes and then we decided to cancel our order and head to another spot. Manager didn't care and our waitress. Stepping in, the ambience is a "cool" dark, the child of a rugged bar and an LA American food restaurant. Lively, diverse, energized full of bright faces that bring light to the dimly lit space. Service was stellar - attentive, on it, anticipated needs/preferences before they were even addressed. A quick anecdote, the waitress made PROACTIVE decisions knowing I am Vegan, not just reactive - a rare thing outside of high dining restaurant. Red wine flight included a fantastic Cab & Cab Reserve, and a "very good" Pinot...and that's coming from a person who does not drink Pinot. I didn't care for the blend but then again I never care for a blend as it is. Food was "American" style tapas - small plates of well crafted foods ranging from flatbread pizza to meatballs to vege pockets and (for me) a "Vegan Stack" composed of rice, mango, avocado, and a delicious spicy mayo. Tiramisu dessert disappeared in all of 20 seconds, well plated and beautifully crafted. You will not leave La Fe thinking to yourself "that was the greatest food I've ever had," but you may just leave thinking "this was the best time with my friends I've ever had" - and THAT is what this restaurant is for -- Bring your friends for a night on the town, bring your family for an energized reunion, bring yourself for a social time itch-scratching. We stopped in late on a Saturday night and the place was packed, with mostly a younger crowd vibe. Indoor seating is mostly bar height with a few standard tables. There's also a cute, covered patio in front along El Paseo. Andrea waited on us, and the service was good. However, as busy as they were, extra staff may have helped with the wait times. My 91-yo mother-in-law tried a Non-Alcoholic Aperol Spritz ($15), which was tasty, while my wife and I shared a Premium Wine Flight ($45) including four 3 - 4oz pours. We also tried the Assorted Olives ($8) which was a nice accompaniment to the wine. Happy Hour is available Sun. - Thur, from 5-6 PM and you can enjoy drink and food specials, or a charcuterie board and select bottle of wine for $50. Honest is the best. Flatbread pizza chicken pesto was tasty. Though meager. Got water service when we sat down but never again. The chicken tacos I think are made with wonton wraps. Tasty though not much chicken with a sliced hot house tomato. The short rib was mostly fat. Eh. It might be for some folks though it didn't work for us. There was a good 12-15 mins in between each plate that was ordered. So we waited almost a half hour before we could all eat together. Maybe it was an off nite. Ya can't win them all. My friends and I had a fabulous dining experience at this beautiful place last evening. We arrived right at five and there seemed to be a steady stream of folks right behind us. Every server that stopped by the table was friendly and the atmosphere was welcoming. We ordered off the happy hour menu and we weren't disappointed!! I'm a vegetarian, so right off the bat the options felt pretty limited. Every wine I've tried here has been just okay, nothing that really stands out. The staff are friendly, but also a bit inattentive, which makes the experience less enjoyable. Honestly, if it were more of a "order at the counter and take it to your table" kind of setup, it might actually feel more comfortable. Sooo I'm a sucker for low lighting, but the atmosphere here comes across as more cold than cozy. On one visit, I was told they were closing even though there was still an hour and a half left before the listed closing time, which was disappointing. The menu itself is also dark and a little confusing to read. Overall, I'd maybe give this place another try in a year, but as of now I'm not feeling very enticed to come back. read more

Ambiance: the bar is very lively and fun. This is a great place to catch up with friends. However, when it is crowded, especially during the winter months, I feel like the ventilation isn't great in some parts of the bar and it can be stuffy. We sat at the bar and both bartenders who helped us and the food runners who brought our bites were so lovely and friendly! The food itself is pretty good, tapas style, and overall plenty of options. I love patatas bravas but I would skip these ones- and word to the wise the aioli on both the potatoes and meatballs are very spicy, which is not the norm. One of the only wine bars with this much wine in Palm Desert. It is located in the middle of a busy street so don't miss it! I ubered but there were lots of parking on the street. It was super busy on a weekday night because there was a game going on. There is a full bar in the outer side and there are also tables inside for tastings and large groups. It seems like they were short staffed at night, but we got seated and the server looked super overworked :( We tried the red wine flight in the white wine flight. Both are very good and it was nice to try out different wines. The food here is very small. We ordered three different dishes and it was still not enough for a full meal. Make sure to eat before coming so you can pair the lines with a little bit of tapas. Other than that, it was a very aesthetic and nice vibe. We had Rachel as our server tonight and I genuinely hope management reads this. She deserves a raise! She was one of the best servers we've had anywhere in the valley in a long time. She anticipated what we needed before we asked. She checked in at perfect timing (never interrupted conversation, never disappeared). She made sure every detail was addressed. It's obvious she actually cares about the guest experience, and that massively elevates the entire restaurant. She made our party memorable and she 100% represents the restaurant exceptionally. Service was good initially but then got rather slow as more patrons came in. At the end, another large group of probably 10 people at 2 tables with a rather swinger-esque vibe came and pushed their tables into ours and wouldn't stop talking to us, which was kinda weird and killed our date night vibe. Drinks (3/5) - Enjoyed the wine selection, it was what I would expect at a wine bar. Service (2/5) - Very friendly servers but the service was extremely slow. We had to look around and flag someone down just to let them know we received the wrong salad. At the end of the meal, after waiting and looking around to see if we can catch someone's attention for our check, we just walked up to the bar to pay. Overall, we enjoyed the cozy ambiance of the restaurant, but the food was mediocre at best and service was inattentive despite the restaurant not being busy. This was definitely a rare find for me. The best wine collection in the desert. You will have and taste some of the finest and best wines presented to you by the sommeliers. Service is OK, and the food is right up the alley to eat with the wine. I must've tried six different glasses of wine that evening, and they were all amazing because the sommelier knew exactly what I would like to drink. Very hard to get good service like that. I found that the portions are super small even for a tapas spot. Servers were attentive to get food and drinks in, but never came by with water that was requested. We ended up finding the self serve stations to grab our own upon leaving, which we were not informed about. maybe a 6.5/10 overall!
