Jonny Prius & EV Repair- Negligence Cost Me an Engine Rating: I am writing this to warn others--especially women--about the costly negligence I experienced at this shop. My car was towed here in November for overheating. I paid $565 for what I was told were the necessary repairs. However, the car overheated again almost immediately because the original problem was never actually fixed. Upon inspection, it appeared the thermostat had never been replaced. Because the shop failed to perform the initial repair correctly, my engine was severely damaged and completely failed, requiring a full engine replacement that cost thousands of dollars. When I went back, the owner tried to quote me $5,000 for a new engine to fix the damage his own negligence caused. I filed a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). Following their investigation, the owner was forced to refund my $565 because he could not produce a single receipt or proof of what work he had supposedly done the first time. I ended up taking my car elsewhere to have the engine replaced. Do not take your vehicle here. Their lack of transparency and failure to perform basic repairs resulted in major mechanical failure for my car. read more

I also want to emphasize that months after the incident, Jonny still hasn't acknowledged the seriousness of telling us our car was safe to drive when it absolutely was not. He has never apologized for that, and even admitted that he told us it was drivable -- then dismissed the issue by blaming the situation on being a "small business." What's most disappointing is that his only concern seems to be that I left a "negative Yelp review," rather than the safety risk we were put in or the responsibility he refused to take. read more

We brought our 2014 RAV-EV in for a tuneup and Jon surprised us by saying he knew this car well and had worked on 2 others in the area. Toyota and Tesla partnered back in the early 2000's and this model--of which there are only a couple thousand in existence--is the result. Our 2018 Bolt, after 100k miles of smooth sailing, flagged an issue with a sensor this week. After asking around locally, we were recommended to come here. Incredibly kind and competent! We were visiting the area from out of town and our 2004 Prius broke down / totally lost power 300 yards from the shop. We found Jonny Prius in a google search and gave them a call. Jonathan came over within minutes, tried to diagnose the problem, and when it became clear that he needed to move the car to his shop, he helped us push it the 300 yards, rather than wait for a tow. He diagnosed the problem, ordered the part that needed replacement, and repaired the car within 3 hours so that we could be on our way again. While he worked on the car, we walked a few miles into Atascadero's downtown. When Jonathan called us that the car was ready, he offered to pick us up at the downtown coffee shop so we did not need to walk back to his shop. The price for the repair was very fair, but we were really stunned by the kindness and compassion for our situation (it was the night before Thanksgiving, so it would have been really challenging for us to have to leave the car behind while on our trip).
