The place is a mad house ... parking lot is full and be prepared for a grocery cart rally. Went on a Saturday morning. New guy in town for the experience. Multiple deli counters and fantastic choices. Service was excellent. Tried many cold cuts and salads. Hot dishes were popular with other shoppers but that wasn't a priority for us. Great breads to choose from. This old world deli is jam packed full of goodies. So many, we are returning today for another pass. Couldn't make it out the door without trying some of their chocolates. The triple dipped malted milk balls will put you in a coma. Highly recommend without any reservations. Allow plenty of time and grab a cart as soon as you enter. Bon Appetite !

We had already planned on visiting Franks Diner in Kenosha so we were excited to see that Tenuta's was just a few miles from Franks. After our excellent breakfast at Franks, we made our way to Tenuta's. We were both surprised and kind of excited when we arrived at an empty parking lot with plenty of spaces. It was when we attempted to go in that we noticed that they did not open for 15 minutes. Thus the empty parking lot. What happened over the next 15 minutes was something we have never experienced before. Cars began pulling in 2 and 3 at a time. People were walking up in groups to stand and wait for them to open. Keep in mind this was December and it was pretty cold outside. The closer we got to the time they opened, the more people that arrived. It kind of felt like black Friday shopping. People kept lining up and before you knew it, the parking lot was almost full. Wow. All for good reason as we got inside. Tenutas' is a one stop shop. They have pre-made foods, frozen foods, deli hot food, alcohol, of course some cheese, you name it. We picked up some Italian sausage, some frozen ravioli with their homemade sauce and a pack of their Italian beef. We really enjoyed the ravioli and the homemade sauce was delicious. Being a Chicago guy, the Italian beef was good, just not Chicago quality. The mild Italian sausage was very good and we look forward to enjoying the additional links that we have left. Very popular place that we would definitely visit again when we are back in the area.

The menus she prepared for posting captured the spirit, and she helped me name the dishes after movies, actors and film characters. As for the food ... stupendous. Every last guest (35 in all) said it was the best (insert name of appetizer or entrée here) they have ever had. To be able to provide such a culinary experience for my dearest friends and family was truly meaningful.. When I turned 58, I determined that since I had reached the age where I could see the period at the end of my life's sentence (not right in front of me, but within eyeshot on the horizon), I was going to accumulate exclamation point experiences. What you created for my birthday soiree definitely qualified as such an experience. Thank you for that ... and for the excellence you and your team put into making it happen.

On 9/12 I attended the wedding of my youngest brother and it certainly qualified as an occasion to let loose. Appetizers: The appetizers included a few different crackers, breads, meats, and cheeses. I needed to save room for dinner, so I stuck with trying the pigs in a blanket with bier cheese. I'm not a huge hot dog fan, but the combination and flavor of the breading with the beer cheese was quite good. Doughboy approved Black Angus Sirloin: I'm really picky when it comes to steak, but this was fantastic. The server shaved it right there in front of you (buffet style). Doughboy approved Wisconsin Red Skinned Garlic Mashed Potatoes: There are certain foods that you really have to try hard to mess up or else they're always good (for example pizza or mashed potatoes). This was bomb though; creamy, buttery, and an inoffensive amount of garlic. Doughboy approved Caramelized Carrots: My friends and family know I'm like Bugs Bunny when it comes to carrots. I've always liked raw carrots because of the crunch and despised soft and mushy cooked carrots. The good thing is that although these were cooked, they were not mushy and the flavor from the caramelized process was superb. Doughboy approved Couscous: I found this stuff to be a little bland and not all that great. Not terrible either, just nothing really noteworthy or exciting. Just Okay Doughboy_Food_Reviews

If someone knew you were going out to Hillary's there were multiple orders to pick-up. When I moved to Kenosha, we would ride down to Waukegan and pickup orders. The service was not the same, but the food was on point. I have had ribs, rib-tips and catfish. When Hillary's opened in Kenosha, I was really glad because I wouldn't have to go to Illinois. The food now was just "okay", nothing to brag about, so I would occasionally go back to Waukegan and Zion. For the past few 5 years or more, I eat sporadically from Hillary's, but am always on the lookout for some "delicious" ribs. The quality of the ribs has sunk so low, that the only good part is the sauce. Ever so often I would get a decent meal, but it so seldom, that I have chosen not to go, if there is anywhere else I can go to. Finally, my husband and I ordered a small rib tips order; one with hot sauce and the other, with mild sauce. We didn't expect much, and we were not dissapointed. The very first piece was amazingly chewy. And each piece afterwards was worse. I thought if I let it sit in the sauce for awhile, the pieces would soften up. That did not happen. My husband eventually tossed his order. I tried to eat mine, but it was like chewing on leather, merely an exercise for your jaws. I am done! And this saddens me because I was there when Hillary first started selling barbecue out of his garage. He's no longer with us, and the business bearing his name is a disgrace.

It would be one thing if you ordered at the counter and waited the customary 10 minutes like all the other Hillary locations I've eaten at. The first one was North Chicago IL, then Waukegan IL, then also Zion which has tried twice to stay open. You order and within ten minutes you can leave with your meal Not Kenosha where I've waited up to an hour! How do you expect me to only order at the counter then wait that amount of time Poor business model and bad customer service. I don't care how much I like the food you have made it impossible for me to enjoy it.
