Referring ONLY to the Physical Therapy at this location. Don't waste your time. They judge you a superficial level & just because you are not in severe pain at the moment they consult, does not mean you do not need treatment. Just because you move ok during evaluation, does not mean that same afternoon you will barely be able to walk due to severe leg pain! No other physical therapy place decades in other t(anywhere) has ever treated me with such dismissive non-treatment. Therapist did not even know the accurate definition of the condition. Been to many Physical Therapy places in other counties for years & none ever treated a elderly patient with such disregard. read more

I've had nothing but good experiences over the last 8 years of using Lompoc Valley. Our doctors are all with Lompoc Valley and I've been to the various labs and radiology and talked to their billing and even been to the ER a couple times and always been pleasantly pleased with the staff, doctors and facilities. The conscientious treatment and personal attention has been noteworthy. Of course its possible at any medical center to occasionally get a snarky receptionist or a stressed and rude nurse or doctor, but I just haven't had that here and I would rate them as well above average compared to my lifelong experience else where in CA and the US. read more

This was a while ago. I got very sick on my way back from a trip. Concerned, I went to this medical center. The doctor came in and sharply asked about my symptoms. After listening he snapped " So, what do you expect us to do?! You probably have the flu. Go home and keep doing what you are doing." I said I would like to be tested for flu and Covid. He sighed but did the test. It came back positive for influenza. He almost shouted "Just like I said. Go home and keep doing what you're doing!" He left immediately. I was dismissed. The nurse was nice enough to give me a note for work. Horrible doctor though. read more

I've been to their ER 4 times in the last 3 years and in their hospital once. The doctors were never able to diagnose my problem, so they never could help me. Diagnosis is always the first step in solving medical issues because it allows the doctors to come up with a treatment plan. They never developed a treatment plan except for prescribing antibiotics for a lung infection that had all the signs of being a viral infection. I took the antibiotics but my condition worsened. They have some very nice nurses but they have some very rude, mean and offensive nurses that add insult to injury. One nurse called me a liar to my face after I said I had not seen my primary provider for 2 years, extremely unprofessional. Then the doctors and the nurses both pushed for CT Scans even though they had no bearing on my condition. They scanned my heart when I came in for a lung problem. The pressure they put on people to get CT scans is intense. The doctor recommended CT several times and denied any radiation risk. When he couldn't convince me, he sent in a very rude and aggressive nurse who actually told me that I could die if I didn't get the CT scan. I later found out that their scanner produces approximately 8 times the radiation compared to industry standards. They make a lot of money on the CT scans and they don't have a modern MRI machine. All the doctors and all the nurses there deny any cancer risk from CT scans, even though studies from UCSF medical center concluded that approximately 5% of all cancers are caused by CT scans. The technicians are all amateurs who are trained to lie to the patient. They say the same story about how harmless CT scans are, while they give you doses of radiation equivalent to thousands of X-rays. Ignorance and carelessness prevails at LVMC. Now I wait for cancer to strike since my body has been bombarded with high doses of radiation by these incompetent people. No wonder the incidence of cancer is 37% higher in Lompoc compared to surrounding areas. read more

I really wanted to love this hospital cause we just moved here, I trusted them with what they told me but it wasn't true. They said she had the flu and it will go away and sent me on my way. Wrong for doing that and not check all symptoms of my child. Very nice staff here and it was clean, took two-three hours for everything. In the end I will not be back for anything and should have listened to a lot of locals to go somewhere else. Had to go to another er in solvang just to find out my toddler had strep throat and needed medicine asap. read more

Just want to give a shout out to all the med/surg team who did a excellent job taking care of me during my recent three day stay at this facility. I had a VERY good experience before , during and after my hip replacement surgery. Everyone did a fantastic job and were very friendly and also always on time with my meds and anything I needed during my stay. We cannot thank the Labor and Delivery staff enough ! Hannah, Morgan, Anahi, Marissa and Dr.Trujillo! From when we got triaged Hannah helped us settle down and made us feel comfortable, once being admitted for active labor she passed on our care to Morgan who was amazing, stayed with us for about 2/3 hours and answered all of our questions, established a plan for delivery. during labor she was reassuring and helpful helpful helpful. Dr.Trujillo drew up a game plan should any complications arise and made it that much less stressful as we felt prepared and were all on the same page. thank you to Anahi who has cared for our baby girl the same amazing way she did for our baby boy . I called Nurse Practitioner Emma for very important information about me, her referral to a psychiatrist who never called me, message from Express Scripts to me saying that they could not reach her regarding a medication that she prescribed and there was a problem with it. Express Scripts asked me to contact her but I was unable to. They did not answer their phone, they said leave a message but I couldn't because their voicemail box was full. I had to write down everything on paper to her, drive to her office Buellton Medical Center now Hope Valley Health and gave it to the only person there who said that Nurse Practitioner Emma was at her other office and I knew nothing about that. I only have one phone number and 99.9% of the time there is no answer and the voicemail box is full. This is not a review for Lompoc Valley Medical Center. This is a review for Hope Valley Health in Buellton California. I cannot even cancel my appointment on October 1st, 2025 with her and it's now her problem because I am not driving there again. read more

Urgent for anyone needing medical attention in lompoc, ca go to marian medical in santa maria, sansum or cottage in santa barbara if you can. the hospital, er & staff are killing patients daily with the lack of appropriate care. neglect, refusing services requested by patients, and very poor treatment of the patient by staff. if you have no other choice, bring someone with you to document the care 100% of the time you are there. the staff is either brand new or antiquated and the old staff is training the new staff to behave & treat patients poorly even when they're in the fight for their lives and in pain and discomfort. janet/janis is one of the young, unprofessional girls that will treat you extremely bad if you don't understand something and ask for clarification!! she gets mad and will not come back into your room to do her job. she refused 4 different requests i had for my records and stated " we're too busy to do anything for you to get your records" & refused to have an administrator visit my room for help. and then i witnessed her & her assistant standing close to my door chatting, but she never returned to my room until a dr finally came in to tell me what he thinks is going on! i requested many times to get more information about the spot/clot or mass in my lungs which is creating my difficulty and 100% of the hospital refused to address the reason for my visit. if you want to live through an emergency, go elsewhere or have someone that cares for you stay % of the time. otherwise, 30% chance that you'll receive proper care. the reception & staff lied on a regular basis to avoid doing the job they were hired for. don't tolerate the abuse! there's no oversight or accountability in the workplace and the only way to be heard is for the residents of the community to put a stop to the neglect. take action or more people will die unnecessarily in the community. contact: 1) department of health and human services 2) federal trade commission 3) better business bureau 4) your insurance company (request a review of the bill from the hospital prior to any payment being made,) review carefully and request non payment for services rendered until agreement between patient and insured! 5) department of consumer affairs 6) any other government agency you deem necessary. reach out to government agencies in hopes for change to this huge problem. i have more than likely a $20,000 bill from the hospital and the only thing that should be paid is the medication that i needed, x-rays and dr evaluation. no other payments should be rendered due to negligence & misdiagnosis. medical bills will not affect your credit anymore and non-payment is the only way to fight for your rights as a paying client. the hospital is for profit only & nothing more will gain the appropriate action for change. these people work for us, we have no obligation to them. don't allow a worker there to intimidate you into submission. yes, when you stand up for yourself, the treatment will be worse, that's why i highly recommend an advocate that can help alleviate some of the neglect, but not all. have them document every conversation for clarity. i asked 1 particular question to 4 staff members and all gave a different answer. the dr was the only one to provide correct answers and assistance with my request. lompoc valley medical is the worst hospital i have ever been to. (as caregiver for 3 family members, i have been to hospitals throughout the state of california. never had i an experience like this latest visit. i'm seeking help for ptsd since i left there. my anxiety went through the roof the entire time i was there! lvmc should be ashamed of the lack of care being provided. they must have a no care policy in place. ps-the lies told by staff was outrageous & it cost me valuable time. i needed to find the appropriate care in buellton and santa barbara and the wasted time due to the neglect was appalling. read more

I had an excellent experience at LVMC on 23 Feb 21. I arrived at 720am to complete paperwork, and was welcomed at the door by a technician (nurse?) who efficiently handed me a fresh mask, asked me COVID questions, and took my temperature. I then proceeded to reception, where I was again quickly and efficiently in-processed. The receptionist was professional and friendly, and had me on my way to radiology in a matter of minutes. This experience was repeated in radiology where again, I was immediately signed-in, and given a minimal amount of paperwork (thank you!!!), and was called-in for my scan within five minutes of arrival. My MRI Tech, Kevin, did a great job getting me situated and educating me on what to expect. I was done and gone by 830am! Kudos to the LVMC Team -- I'm a fan!!!! Cheers! RS read more

If less than 1 star possible, much more deserving. I went for uncontrolled vomiting stomach acid. After finally getting a room - nobody else was waiting yet I waited almost an hour. A woman named Casandra comes in and begins to yell at me for puking. I needed to do it quieter or not at all. I needed to try harder. What in the world? After showing her my full vomit bag and begging it to be recognizable that I do not want to be there. She refuses to stop screaming at me. I finally ask "is that all" and ask for her to leave. Where she denies and grins at me. When I ask for her name I'm told "to stop yelling" let's be VERY VERY CLEAR she was the one yelling! Not only beyond unprofessional, extremely harmful. Begging for her name I go to ask a doctor, which she tells me I also can't do. Because of this, she threatens to call the police, and they show up asking why I threatened her? It went from needing help to being fearful of an arrest! I was cornered and told to calm down. THIS DOES NOT CALM PEOPLE DOWN. I am a 19 year old with anxiety, what procedure would allow such mockery??? I called to complain and no call back. This is not the first time Casandra has done this to me either. When admitted for a burst appendix, she told me to leave because the pain was nothing but anxiety. I ended up going to a different hospital which saved my life. Not only would this woman be the responsible for my death, but numerous others I can only estimate since she does anything but her job. Isn't the point of working in health care.. the help their health? Despicable. Next time I need medical attention I now know to risk the drive elsewhere or accept my fate. The Male Head Nurse has a heart of gold, along with the male nurse who helped my sister during her stay there. She was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, and they were the most caring, understanding, and professional personnel ever. They both served with utmost honor and respect, and my family will forever be grateful to them both. They even escorted my sister into the car with us as we transported her to another facility back in her hometown of LA. These gentlemen are prime examples of what it means to be servant leaders in the healthcare system. I salute you both, and my heart is full of gladness to have had you care for my sister. We recently laid her to rest, and as I think back on all the medical staff that helped her along the way with excellent, you two gentlemen top the charts! Thank you! read more

They have a lady who just learned what a computer is at reception, long wait and lines to REGISTER which no one tells you you have to do before your appointment then you have to wait way beyond appointment times. Most of these reviews are for the ER and long wait times. Dude, DUH. It's an ER. That will almost always be the case unless your situation is life threatening. Anyway, my review is for my experience with the birthing center at this hospital. This was our first baby and I wasn't entirely sure if I should be at the hospital yet. Nurse does an exam and tells me I'm not going anywhere because I'm apparently already 8cm dilated. ( ) We'll skip all the labor details and just get to what matters, the hospital was very clean, the staff was friendly, and all the nurses and cna's made sure we had everything we needed. I had a very good experience here and compared to friends and family I know that gave birth at hospitals in Santa Maria and Santa Barbara, I'm REALLY glad I stayed in town and delivered here. They never take the baby out of the room. You labor, deliver, and recover in the same room. The baby stays with mom. The only time baby left was for a hearing test and circumcision. Anyway, wanted to break up all these 1 star ER reviews with my positive experience. read more

Absolutely, hands down worse emergency room EVER! Dr Richel is an ego maniacal, over confident, jerk that thinks he's all knowing. Apparently spinal taps, or in his words, lumbar punctures are his go to treatment if he doesn't know what's going on. 11 years ago he strongly advised we give our 6 year old a spinal tap because he wasn't sure what was wrong with her. After words he said her symptoms were suggestive of a scorpion sting!?!?! Thank God she was sent to Cottage hospital in SB. Fast forward 11 years, she's now 17. Once again Dr Richel is the attending physician in the emergency room. My daughter was having pain on the right side and her doctor sent us to the hospital for a CT scan to rule out appendicitis. Dr. A$$hole was convinced it was a ruptured cyst on her ovary. He ordered an ultrasound which showed nothing. He fought me on getting a CT scan but gave in. The only thing found was a slight bit of liquid near the ovary which he again claimed could have been caused by a ruptured ovary. They ran a bunch of tests and discharged her. Today we had a follow up with her pediatrician and apparently she has diverticulitis, which was in his notes but he never mentioned. I would rather die on the way to Marion or Cottage than be treated by this hack! read more

My daughter had surgery here she had a little cyst removed from her neck they were very good to her made her very comfortable she was very happy and not scared at all on the nurses and doctors were very wonderful she got to go home the same day they kept me in form drain the entire procedure recommend it to anybody who has children :) read more

I was sent to collections over a $24 balance from 2017. I never received a single phone call informing me that I owed money, and apparently they never updated my address when I moved. This is not what I expect out of a local, community oriented medical group. Please call your customer and inform them that they owe money before sending them to collections. read more

My client went to the ER because he was having difficulty breathing. This was noted in the chart that the family later found out from his private physician. They withheld this information from the wife and daughter because they were more interested in sending him home. If he had a collapsed lung, perhaps this would make it difficult for his 80 year-old wife to take care of him, which she can't but is forced to do it anyway. It would be nice if medical staff would value our elderly. read more

I am writing in regards to an issue that occurred this evening with one of your personnel who wears a yellow jacket with the word "security" on the back. This individual was working in the ER entrance. A relative an I were attempting to visit our family member in med surg. We were required to show a vaccination card or a negative Covid test, which we did. We were also informed that only one of us could visit this patient at a time. Even though this patient has cognitive impairments and even though we are from the same household. One of us could visit while the other had to wait in the ER waiting room (with "sick" individuals). When I came out the door after visiting, two women were attempting to also go in and visit the same patient together. They claimed they had been in before and were just going to "say hi real quick". The "security guard" said "okay" and let them in together. Meanwhile, he never asked for their vaccine card nor did he ask for proof of a negative test. (As I mentioned, I witness this whole conversation). As I walked my sister up to go in to visit, as it was now her turn , I asked the employee why he let them both in at the same time to visit the same patient, but yet he would not let us both in. He said one of them was coming back right now (an obvious lie). I informed him that I saw and heard the whole conversion and he let them both in while he made us visit separately. He said "yes I did". I asked him why, he didn't have an answer. I asked him if that was fair and he said "no". I asked to speak to someone else and he said I could speak to his supervisor. I attempted to reach his supervisor to speak with regarding this matter. His supervisor Mark said he would come speak with me, but never showed. What exactly is this visitor policy? Who makes these decisions on how many visitors and do you "security" personnel have the authority to dictate who is allowed two visitors at one time and who is allowed only one? What qualifies someone to have more rights to visitation than me and my family member? I am considering this discrimination and I am requesting an explanation, if accommodations cannot be made. read more

We have been to the ER in Lompoc four times in the past couple of months with my elderly mother-in-law. We have never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seen. The doctors, nurses, and support staff have all been unfailingly polite and caring. I appreciate the way they speak to the patient directly, explain what they are doing, and most of all get her taken care of and on her way home. read more

Every time I've come here it's always been slow and there's always only one doctor. However, today is beyond ridiculous. I have been here since 415 and it is currently 7. I have had my X-rays done and have been sitting in the lobby with people who haven't even been helped yet that got here at the same time as me. Lompoc Valley Medical Center really needs to employ more doctors to help at the Emergency Room. This is not only affecting myself but tons of individuals who are seeking quick help regarding their issues. Majority of us do not come on an ambulance so the more critical individuals can be helped first. But this does not mean we should have to wait so long to be helped! Next time i do not care how much pain i am in i am going to Santa Maria and will advise everyone i know to as well. read more

Great ER! The nurses and doctors were exceptional! I was very much cared for and I was in and out quick.

While this hospital may have a big beautiful new building the care there is horrible. At least in the ER. I went in with what they after 6 hrs of waiting diag osed as a migrane. No tests or anything done. It was a holoday weekend. On the following Mon was able to see my Primary Physician. I was diagnosed with a Major kidney infection serious could have been life threatening. This is not the 1st misdiagnose or error I heard from this hospital. For basic services Mamograms, exrays etc. Probably ok but for Anything other go Somewhere anywhere else. Cottage Hospital in Solvang is excellent. Only 20-25 min further and well worth the drive or Marian. I post this to hopefully help or save someones life. read more

I went to the ER with excruciating back pain. I was seen immediately, X Rays were taken and a diagnosis was made. I was hospitalized for three days for pain management and other problems. I cannot say enough good about the staff at the ER as well as the floor staff. Lompoc is very fortunate to have a modern, clean hospital staffed with professional caring employees. read more

Be sure to closely review you bill from this place. They commit insurance fraud. I had to have a cataract surgery and decided to pay for the upgraded lenses to correct an astigmatism. Although my medical insurance covered the surgery, the insurance doesn't cover the upgraded lenses. As the lenses were going to be out of pocket, they required that I pay for them upfront. When I received the bill I noticed that they still racked on the cost of the lenses that the insurance would pay for. read more

Recently had a visit to the ED with my husband who was experiencing shortness of breath, and chest discomfort. We were treated immediately with great compassion and a very friendly and knowledgeable staff, from the moment we entered all treatment rendered was done in a very efficient, and timely manner. I was extremely impressed with the thoroughness of the ED physician . Thankfully our outcome was uneventful but it takes comfort in knowing if it had gone differently we would have been handled with the highly knowledgeable, and expertise of the Lompoc ED staff. read more
