A friend introduced me to Lone Pine Bakery. We came towards the end of the day on a weekday. A lot of items were sold out, but there were still quite a few varieties of sweet and savory items. Because it was about an hour to closing the items were 50% off! Usually I've seen "day old" discounted items, but I love that they give a discount the day of! The spinach-feta pastries were a favorite of mine, as well as, the sourdough bread. My family devoured the other items before I could try any of them so I'm gonna assume they were amazing lol. It's a small quaint place with great big customer service. The gentleman who helped us was incredibly friendly and genuinely helpful. I adored him immediately. Definitely worth a visit. read more

A hidden gem in Sandy you don't want to miss. The best breakfast burritos in town and the best cinnamon rolls I have ever had! The service is top notch and the ambience is charming and quaint. A nice bakery with tasty treats and coffee/espresso. We had a latte and a mocha. As you can see, they look pretty similar. I would advise asking for extra chocolate if you're ordering the mocha. We also had the chocolate and banana tarts. They were tasty, with fresh whipped cream and attractive decoration. The bakery has breads, cookies, tarts, and other baked goods. This is an indirect review as I didn't actually visit this bakery, but I had their goods at one of the many coffee shops they supply: Alpha Coffee - Cottonwood Heights. At Alpha Coffee, I had the tomato, Gruyère cheese, and scrambled egg croissant. Oh my! First, the croissant was *the best I've ever had in my life*, period. Lightly crispy on the outside, totally flakey on the inside. And the flavors of the tomato, cheese, and egg was spot on. I think there was spinach in there, too. It was so good, I went there the next morning, too, and bought it again. I also got the chocolate croissant and it was delicious! 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Oh my Goodness what a hidden gem. We went in at 2pm which by Bakery Standards is late. They still had a few things left so I got two Ham and Cheese Croissants, a Coconut Tart and a loaf of Sour Dough Bread Sliced. All of it was delicious and decadent in the best way possible. This is a cute bakery nestled in a strip mall in Sandy. The gentleman working behind the counter was so kind and patient and you can tell that he is very passionate about what he does. They offer a variety of cakes, pies, and pastries. We ordered the apple caramel danish and lemon cheese danish. Both were delicious and perfectly flaky. Called in this morning to order a few dozen pastries for customers and the gentleman was extremely accommodating. He had my order ready in about 20 minutes Showed up to pick up the order the same gentleman waited on me. He was over the top professional and courteous and so appreciative of the order. I love to support local and small business and this is the reason why. They truly appreciate the business and made sure I knew it. You don't get that at big box places like DD and Krispy Kreme. Came here on a whim and I was pleasantly surprised. Ended up grabbing an eclair and a banana tart and they were both very well executed. The eclair had a nice smooth filling with a great vanilla taste and the banana tart had fresh bananas with a crisp exterior. No artificial flavor at all! Service was great and it's a nice cozy little bakery. Will be back in the future to try more of their pastries! read more

Such a nice, fresh, clean, delightful bakery! Everything about this place is exceptional. I don't think they have seating but there's plenty of room out front for a couple of tables and chairs. I could be wrong about indoor seating. It's tiny. I think they do espresso. I'm not intimately familiar with their entire menu but I will say that visually, it is a treat! Plus the food is good, especially their croissants. I don't know that there are more flaky, buttery croissants to be found anywhere. read more

Thanks to Robert S. for mentioning that this bakery is located in the shopping center with Gray Whale, as I'd have never found it otherwise! I'll take it a step further and tell you it's in the strip of businesses behind Gray Whale, housed next to a chiropractor. There is no real sign declaring their existence, only a meek "Bakery" printed on the fabric shade over the front door. But don't give up if you don't find it on your first try...the rewards are much too great! I was greeted by the sweetest girl when I entered, and as I told her I was going to need a few minutes to make a decision, she headed to the back, then during that time one of the owners came out and checked on me too! Gold star for customer service! The shop is small with just a bit of bar seating at the window, but it's nice that that is available if you do choose to dine there. And I'm sure people take advantage because not only do they offer all the bakery standards, you can also get a lunch of salad with quiche or a giant croissant (SO MANY CROISSANTS!). There are also breakfast sammies, yogurt and granola, or a deal for a coffee and pastry. They have hot chocolate, tea, OJ, and milk as well! I was just there to take some goodies home, though, and opted for the following: Ham and cheese croissant- the ham was sort of bunched in the center, and the cheese was not very noteable, but that dang croissant was such straight flaky, buttery perfection that I didn't even care about the filling! Turkey pesto croissant-see above, lol Eclair-the pastry was a little softer than I'd prefer, but the chocolate topping was great, as was the filling, and neither were overly sweet. Chocolate cupcake-pretty standard frosting, but the cake was crazy moist and tender. Excellent crumb structure, too! Fudge Brownie-basic, but not in a bad way. Just exactly how you would expect a brownie to be! Sugar cookie-so so soft and tender, with neither too much, nor too sweet frosting. Brown sugar shortbread with chocolate-possibly my favorite, these were so well done! All shortbread should be made with brown sugar (then dipped in chocolate, obvs)! Prices are great, from $2 for a cookie and at the highest up to $4 for a croissant and some of the larger pastries. Whole cakes are $25-$28, pies are $16. They do wedding cakes too! I wanted everything and sadly limited myself, but this darling little shop is so close by, I might just return every weekend of the foreseeable future so I can eventually stuff my face with all the treats! read more

I am a cinnamon roll connoisseur and try them everywhere I go. Although this is an incredible bakery, with absolutely beautiful bakery selections, their cinnamon roll was subpar. For starters, it was handed to me in a plastic box even though I said I wanted it, "for here". It was cold, so I asked for it to be heated up, which was done in the plastic box, to my horror! I was too embarrassed to say anything about this because I'm pretty sure the gentleman who assisted me with this was unaware that this was dangerous. I managed to eat a few bites before I threw the remainder away. The cinnamon roll was lacking cinnamon, and just didn't have the cinnamon and sugar goo I was hoping for. It was too bready, as well. This bakery claims to make everything from scratch, but based on what I saw, I believe this is an exaggeration and much of what they display they purchase frozen. read more

Great pastries, the guy who served me was super friendly and quick, all around great place. I got the lemon cream cheese danish and a lemon meringue tart and both were great. The only complaint I could give was I came around 1 pm so they were out of sourdough and some of their tarts. Will definitely be coming back. read more

Lone Pine Bakery is great! I have had many of their bakery items, from peanut butter cookies to spinach croissants, all have been excellent! The best however was a custom ordered lemon cake with butter cream frosting and lemon curd between layers. It was FABULOUS! read more

How did I not know this was here? Great savory and sweet options, I am intrigued by their cakes and pies which you have to order ahead. I will be back- great option for snacks to take to a customer meeting. The filled croissants were delicate and hearty at the same time... 17 seconds in the microwave take the pastry to a whole new level. The sugar cookie was slightly chewy with a perfect amount of buttercream. I can totally make these at home... but it is a good treat to buy too. Not as sweet as Crumbl's, which is fine by me. In my exhaustive search for the best pain au chocolat (or chocolate croissant for us commoners) I believe I have a winner... At least... So far. This unassuming little shop built into an otherwise desolate strip mall in Sandy supplies many of the hip coffee shops of Utah with stellar pastries and treats. They also happen to have my favorite rendition of the chocolate croissant to date. It's flakey, not overbaked, and with just the right amount of chocolate. It doesn't feel heavy which is both good and terrible because I could reasonably take down 3 of them without even thinking about it. They have a lot of other really tasty looking pastries and cookies and such, but honestly... I haven't been able to move on yet! Sorry no picture.... I end up eating them too fast. read more
