While visiting Utah, the smell of pies from across the street drew us into this hole-in-the-wall shop. Pie Fight does not have an interior area for guests, but rather operates from a grab and go window. We ordered two hand pies-- the apple crumble and blueberry lemon-- and had them warmed up. The staff there was very prompt with taking our order and preparing our food. We ended up taking the pies back to our hotel room because the seating on the deck out front had no lighting. Both pies were very good, but overall we preferred the classic apple crumble better than the blueberry lemon. I would definitely go back if we return to Utah, but maybe a little earlier in the day so we could walk around and enjoy our pies. read more

I can't believe I've lived within minutes of this place for 5 years and am hitting it for the first time. As a life-long pie lover this place is everything I want. The savory pies dipped in a side of ranch, ummm okay, didn't see that one coming. Perfection. But truly the Queen Bee of the menu is the Boston cream pie. They sell out immediately, and despite being there a mere 3 minutes after opening I purchased the last one available that day. Who knew hand-pies had made such a comeback? The staff was friendly, and we appreciated being able to get the pies warmed up, even though it meant waiting a few minutes. The blueberry lemon was delicious, with a nice fruit-forward flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. The peach crumble, however, was a bit disappointing--ours was underbaked, and the bottom crust was still raw. That may have just been bad luck, because the top was crispy and flaky. I will preface with, I am not a pie girl and I know that is a hot thought, but it's not my favorite dessert. However, within the last couple years I have warmed up to an apple streusel pie. Pie Fight is everything I want when looking for a sweet treat. Caramel Apple is one of my favorites and it's consistently tasty every time. It reminds me of my childhood and such sweet and simple times. Service is good. The staff onsite are always kind and quick. I came to Pie Fight for the first time this past weekend. I didn't realize it was a small window you order at for takeaway. It's right next to or part of the Uncommon Vintage building. There's no dedicated parking, but street parking wasn't a huge issue on Sunday evening. Even though it's just a window, there are some bench seats while you wait and eat. I wasn't in love with it, but I don't have many negative things to say either. The lady at the window was super sweet. I was surprised they have savory pies too. I'll have to come back to try one. We wanted sweets and went with the blueberry lemon since it was the only one at the time in the "biggie" size. We didn't think the biggie was all that big (looks long, but not very thick) and it was gone pretty quickly lol It tasted good though. I regretted not getting the apple crumb, because that one's toppings looked sooo good. But they didn't have it in the larger size to share. Idk if they always have just one in the biggie size or they sold out of others. The pricing might be a little high given the size. That's my biggest critique. Overall, I'd probably try another if I was in the area. I think in the case of the blueberry lemon, some vanilla ice cream would have been a great addition, but I'm not sure I would pay $10 for it. read more

Our friends brought some pies back for us after they had them fresh and loved them. We shared a couple strawberry rhubarb, blueberry lemon and cherry. All the pies were generously filled with fresh fruit, but the strawberry rhubarb lacked flavor and the lemon was non-existent in the lemon blueberry. The crust was the best on the strawberry rhubarb. After we ate them all, we thought of reheating them in the air fryer to crisp them up. Darn. So...I'm going to guess these pies are best warm, right out of the oven. The crust makes it worth it! Light and buttery and extra flaky. Has me imagining all of the possibilities. A handful of options were on the board. We tried the mac 'n cheese which was superb. These hand pies come in big and small. The smalls are exactly half the size of the big but you save $0.50 if you order a big one. I wanted to try two different flavors so I got two smalls. It was a bit overindulgent in hindsight. They have a revolving list of menu options but I forgot to ask how often they change things up. The raspberry Oreo brownie tasted exactly like you'd imagine. Rich and sweet from the chocolate overload and definitely fruity from the raspberry. They did seem like fresh raspberries. I got it warmed up which added a bit to the wait but was definitely the way to go. The Boston cream pie was cold and somewhat tasty, but I think I was over pies by the time I got to it. Too much filling in my humble opinion. I ate around the edges and threw out the middle. A major critic of the carb, I think the pastry puff itself was mediocre. Another spot that my foodie friends cry and YELP about! So we were in the area today and finally got to try these scrumptious-looking pies that remind me of McDs apple pies back in the day! Tried: lemon blueberry, raspberry egg nog, and the Boston cream. All were really good in their own element! The lemon blueberry is definitely blueberry, which overpowered the lemon which I hardly tasted. Raspberry eggnog - more tart due to the raspberry flavor, but the eggnog flavor was definitely there! This little window of goodness is almost hidden if you aren't looking for it. Once you walk up onto their deck, you know you are in for some tasty treats. The menu board is perched outside of their window, with various flavors of pies. I tried the apple crumble, and ate some of it cold, and also warmed some up. These pies are definitely better warm in my opinion, as they are not as thick as a regular pie, and seem to become soggy and mushy pretty quickly. Besides their fruit pies, they have some more savory options, like a mac and cheese pie. My favorite thing here is the scrappies. They are pie crust with cinnamon sugar and a little icing. To me, this is the best part of the pie-the crust! Usually when I visit, the people who work here are friendly and happy to serve you their homemade baked treats. Most recently, I visited one day and the person at the window was less than helpful, yelled at me, and even slammed the window down on me. There was speaker right by the window that made it difficult to talk with the people working there. I had ordered some scrappies, and instead of the normal sized box, the boxes were not even halfway full. I mentioned this to the person who was waiting on me, and I said I was confused, as normally the box is full. I asked what the normal amount was, (was it by weight, or the size of the box, etc...) He began yelling and saying he doesn't normally work the window. I reached out to their manager, to share the inconsistencies of the product and the behavior of the staff that day. She was apologetic, and mentioned the person who normally works the window wasn't there that day. There were four people working there that day and all of those workers were not trained as how to serve people at the window. After my experience, I have wanted to return, but felt that the product I was purchasing lacked consistency due to the untrained staff working the window that day. Also, despite the manager saying this staff member was a hard worker, it was still an uncomfortable experience to say the least, when trying to patronize a local business and enjoy locally baked treats. I believe in supporting local business, but my last experience here has made me feel unwelcome, and not excited to return. read more

This place did not disappoint! We were walking by and could not resist how good it smelled so we had to stop and check it out! They were sold out of everything but coconut macaroon and blueberry lemon so we ordered one of each. These were SO good. The blueberry lemon pie was still warm and tasted amazing. The coconut macaroon had chocolate and pistachios on top and was delish. It wasn't warm but I actually enjoyed eating this one cooled down. It reminded me a lot of a cookie which I loved. I'm typically not a huge fruit pie fan (weird I know) so this flavor hit the spot for me. The hand pies are $6 each so not the cheapest dessert around but I would pay $6 any day for one of these.
