Our instructor Moon was excellent and provided clear and constructive feedback. My only complaint was that the business owner interrupted sessions on the first day to micromanage how instructions were delivered. The way these critiques were communicated came across as rude and unprofessional, and it distracted from our ability to focus on the training. Did the beginner class this week with Jeremy and he was absolutely amazing! He went above and beyond to cater to everyone individually as well as as a whole group. Personally I was overthinking a lot of the stuff and he would ask me random off the wall questions to think about so I'd be thinking about that instead of the task at hand. Haven't worked with any other trainer there but if you are going to take the course I highly recommend Jeremy! He is such a great teacher and very compassionate. I took my beginners class in order to get my license. There is an online portion which you have to study on your own and pass the exam. Then you do a 2 day hands on class. Im a total beginner and I've never been on a motorcycle so obviously I was very extremely nervous. Our coach, Joe was so unbelievably wonderful and patient. He took the time to explain everything in detail and we got to practice each part over and over again. Carrie who is the owner also coached and trained us during parts of the class. She was also wonderful, helpful and super knowledgeable. I personally suffer from horrible test anxiety but with the help of coach Joe and his calm mannerism, helpful tips and PATIENCE, I was able to pass the course. I could not be happier and more grateful for this experience. I can get my license now! I will be taking more courses with Lonestar to master my skills and feel more confident before hitting the roads. I highly recommend you don't look elsewhere and book your class with Joe. read more

Not going to say that the entire operation is one star, in fact based on my research and several reviews I chose Lone star and then suggested it to two friends who also took the class. The equipment is suitable Honda groms and the Kawasaki that is similar. Kind of a bit small for someone like me that weighs in at 250 but ok. I went through the online classes and 10 hours of the course riding. The ten hours were conducted by one of their trained instructors and it was a class of 6. After making it thru the 14 lessons without much feed back from the instructor other than "eyes up". The final skills test began. I hit a cone, put a foot down and stalled on the tight right to u-turn portion of the test which was enough of mark against me to not pass. So call it sour grapes but I kinda expected possible a shot at trying it again but it was a one shot deal. I really do think if it was not set up up hill or I was 100lbs lighter that it probably would have worked out fine for me. Now my instructor Jim did say I could call the school and they are good about working something out. The site states that they will give you a $50 credit to retake if you fail. The problem with that is he didn't put out a real happy learning environment and he failed 2 out of the 6 in his class. Failing rate of 33% in a class of 6 that is too small of a class to miss any one with a lack of skill mastery. If you do chose this place I would recommend Carrie as the instructor we watched her class from across the range and they were cheering each other on as she quite cheerfully walked them thru the lessons. But really you should probably just do what I will and that is to go the class at the Harley dealer, flat ground, bikes that are irealistic for grownups and probably better teaching/customer service but I am sure they will try and sell you something. read more

Can't speak highly enough of owner/instructor Carrie. She purchased the business within the last few years and is working hard to 1) make it the best place in Dallas to learn to ride and 2) put safe riders on the rode. Carrie's teaching style is enthusiastic and patient. She does an excellent job of taking the pressure off of you (that if you're like me, you put on yourself), and helps you to just relax and ride, so you can learn. She gives practical advise, not just talking points from a manual. If you've never rode motorcycles, or even dirt bikes, trust me, you can still pass this class. Just pay attention, listen to the advise, and go for it! One bit of advise: If you haven't rode a bicycle in years and don't already ride dirt bikes, find a bicycle rental or do a bicycle tour around town to refresh yourself. Just a few hours on a bicycle first can make a huge difference! Riding a bicycle a few times (did it a few months before I took the course) let me know I was more rusty than I thought, and helped me get my balance back up where it needed to be. Carrie is awesome, and I will likely take an advanced course with her in the future. I just bought my first bike, and I can hear her voice like Yoda in my ear while I'm riding still coaching me on the road. Can't speak highly enough about her and what she's building. read more

6/8/20 UPDATE: After posting this review, the owner gave me a quid pro quo and told me that there will be no remedial class unless I delete this review. This type of handling is a perfect example why this business lacks work ethics. Not even mentioning an unwillingness to apologize for giving a bad experience. I was "unsafe" and "unstable" after 2 minutes of the class... yes, sure. "Being held hostage"? All I did was sharing my honest experience with this business. 5/28/20 ORIGINAL REVIEW: Never had a motorcycle experience before. Registered for a 2-days Beginner course with Jim. The first day of the class was okay: had some issues with a friction zone and shifting gears smoothly. Jim polished it with me during the lunch break, which was very beneficial. The main routine for every exercise is the same: the instructor monotonically reads the long instructions from a book and expects everyone to remember every single detail. Then, when asked questions or clarifications, he answered in a demeaning tone which discourages to ask anything else. Honestly, I was not doing great the first day of the class. Obviously, I did a lot of mistakes but had some progress too. The instructor was cheering when I did some of the exercises correctly and "barked" when I did something wrong. It was all fair. On the second day, at 7:30 am before the class started, Jim suggested that I switch to a scooter with an automatic transmission, he did not want the owner Carrie to see that any damages are made to the bikes. I never fell off the motorcycle nor damaged the motorcycle, except stalling the engine on Day 1, which should be expected. I was able to balance myself on a motorcycle: did turns, U-turns and smooth stops and acceleration. We agreed to do the switch if I struggle with a clutch. Class started at around 7:45. I proceeded to do the exercise and stalled the engine when I stopped. The instructor insisted that I switch to the scooter. I was surprised to see that he would not give me another chance to try but I followed the lead. I sat on a scooter for 2 minutes if not less, and completed the same exercise, which was to turn and stop. I had to adjust and get myself comfortable with the new machine. It was only a minute or two since I first sat on it. After I completed the exercise on the scooter, Jim asked me to stop the engine and informed me that I am disqualified. When asked what did I do wrong, he wouldn't not give me a specific answer nor a feedback on my last exercise. Instead, he referred to the Day 1, when I asked him about a prerequisite of riding a bicycle (I DO KNOW how to ride a bicycle. The reason I asked is that I did not ride bicycles for a year, and never owned one - only rented and practiced on friends' bikes). This question made him feel that I do not know how to ride a bicycle. He said that I am a danger to myself, he is not comfortable with me being in the class and he wants me to leave the lot. I explained him that I was trying to find the balance for the scooter that I sat on literally seconds ago, but his mind was made up. The class started at 7:45 and I was disqualified at around 7:47. This was all staged. Obviously, it was easier for Jim to work with students who already have some experience. We were a group of 6 students and I was the only one with no experience. At first, I appreciated Jim when he tried to help me one-on-one, but in the end, it turned out to be just for a checkmark. Eventually he realized that it would be easier for him to work with more experienced riders. I was not given the opportunity to participate and learn. This decision was made before Day 2 even started. One mistake - I am being kicked out. This is exactly what happened. I called the office for a refund and was denied by the owner Carrie. I told her that the way I was treated indicates a terrible work ethics towards the beginners who are the main audience for this course. Carrie told me that she was surprised to see that I appeared on Day 2 because I stalled the engine many times on Day 1 and that I was supposed to be gone. Nothing to be surprised about: I paid for a 2-days course and I expect to get a 2-days course. I want to learn but instead I am being denied to learn. Good Instructors are supposed to teach and not disqualify if there are issues. The outcome is that Carrie offered me a free class with her. She promised to work with me on my mistakes. The timeline for this class is the end of June 2020. I will see how it goes and will be willing to update my review accordingly. read more

Carrie, our trainer, is a knowledgeable and motivated trainer. She is attentive, patient and very safety-oriented. The course material was pertinent to personal safety and conducive to getting the most out of your biking experience. I took this course as a person who has never controlled a motorcycle before. Not having any experience, I did not know what to expect and was not entirely certain I would be able to pass the course. From the very beginning and throughout the course, I received some great hands-on experience and plenty of personal feedback and evaluation in addition to tips and advice on improving. The feedback I was given helped me dramatically improve my skills and pass the course. I have been thinking about doing this for years and thrilled that I finally took the steps it required to go through this and get my license. I am especially happy that I chose Lone Star Bikers and was provided with what I consider to be a comprehensive and responsive training experience. I will recommend this course to anyone wanting to get their motorcycle license. If you need to get your motorcycle endorsement, this is the school for you. Hands down, no question. I was one of the ones who have never operated a manual shift motorcycle, or manual shift anything for that matter. I was extremely nervous about this. I could ride a bike, and I have a automatic transmission motorcycle( yes, they do exist..see Honda NC750X DCT). Carrie is the owner and was the instructor, and you will not have a better instructor. She is highly motivated, very knowledgeable of the riding craft, and most importantly, she is a patient teacher. She teaches the class just as it is supposed to be taught, and that is that she understands that you have no experience, and gives you time to learn while giving you the necessary tips and lessons to improve your skills. Do not misunderstand. She is not going to just GIVE you anything, and you have to show the proper improvement. But you will be given every opportunity to do it, and the learning environment is outstanding. You will learn for sure. Just listen to her and you will be fine. We went through all the exercises and the skills test with ease. Now this is where I give the A plus for customer service. On the days I was in class, it was very hot outside. I made it the first day of riding, but on the second day, the heat got to me. This was with only one exercise and the skills test left. I was heartbroken. I cooled down and when my class was finished, I went to her to see what I could do. Carrie understood that I lived an hour and a half away from the facility. She allowed her awesome assistant coach, Anthony, to coach me one on one and then allowed me to take my skills test as well, which I did pass. She did not have to allow this, and could have just washed me out and had me to come all the way back to retake the class. I was very appreciative of her making this allowance, and I'll bet that there are other schools that would not do this. This is customer service at its finest. So, between the great instruction, friendly learning environment and great customer service, I mean, there is just no other place I will ever go for motorcycle classes. Wow!! Where do I begin? I am a newer rider, riding for about a year now. I took a class last year but was not successful. They gave me another course half off but this time, felt the instructor was partial and stiff at the same time. So obviously by now, I was saying to myself " I've had it I'm burned out". The year 2021 came and I knew inside I would like to attempt it one more time. This time I chose to go with Lonestar Bikers. Thank the good Lord I did. When I say my experience was night and day to the others I experienced.. I cannot even describe it in words. Jason is a police officer plus knows the industry inside and out. I bought a groupon deal that was promoted by Lone Star Bikers, and they wouldn't honor the groupon. Their excuse was that they do not want to pay the 45% to groupon, and technically lose money. We had explained to them that they were the ones who publicized with groupon, but they said that we cannot register for a class without others paying the normal rate through their own website. Their option was to cancel the groupon, and pay more money registering for a class directly with the company. Instead we decided to cancel our groupon, complain to groupon about the company, and then pay more money at another class offered at a different business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

This was my first experience riding...ever. I was pretty nervous going in, but the instructor John Stancoff was phenomenal. Really put me at ease and provided me with all the tools and knowledge I needed to be successful. I had a great time and am excited to get riding. Riding experience going into the class = NONE! (I've never even driven a manual car) I was extremely nervous to attend this class because I didn't want to embarass myself infront of a class full of other people. In the beginning exercises I couldn't even throttle the bike without stalling (womp womp.. Killed it almost every time). Danielle was the perfect mix of hands on/hands off learning. She won't smother you and make you feel anxious, but she will be there to assist you the moment you need it. By the end of the 2-day course I felt a huge confidence boost and couldn't wait to ride my bike around town! My classmates ranged from beginners, people who ride every now and then and people who have ridden bikes for 20+years. Never once felt like I was out of place or lesser than my class mates.
