Good experience. Had a delightful waiter, drawing a blank on his name. I had the rib eye and it was huge and cooked perfectly. Seared on outside and pinkish red in center. Great place to eat but what took so long?!?! After my grandfather won in the casino he decided to treat us to dinner here! The atmosphere was great! Lighting was great here! Perfect combination of that "upscale lighting" while providing great visibility! A live pianist was also present during our visit which elevated the whole experience. The staff was very friendly, and knowledge able. They always addressed us formally and packed our food well. The food took SOOOOOO LONG to get to us and I was just left wondering what took so long. The bread was good, but I found it too cold but maybe that's what they're aiming for. We started with bacon wrapped shrimp, and had filet mignon and halibut I believe. The bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious! Two of my favorites bacon and shrimp! The filet mignon and fish took forever to get to us, it was close to 45 min after we received our appetizer that we finally received our entrée. The filet was cooked according to our request, and it was just like any other filet mignon that I've had, it was still good but not one of the better ones. The sauce that it came with wasn't to my liking and the mashed potatoes were COLD! Probably cause it was sitting under one of their food warming lamps. The fish was delicious! It was accompanied with a risotto that was equally delicious but not warm enough. Pricing is what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber so no complaints there. Overall a great restaurant to go to but kitchen was taking too long to bring out entrée which is why they earned four stars instead of five. Avoid the steak dishes and go for the fish with risotto! I love this place! First off, the ambiance is warm, romantic, quiet, and welcoming. The lighting is just right, the ingredients are leaning more towards gourmet, the specialty drinks are great to try (asian pear martini is amazing), and the staff is extremely quick, professional, and well groomed. The food is delicious. They combined ingredients that I like to use in my kitchen so I had to try it. I was not let down. This restaurant finally brought some class to Amador County and they know how to treat each customer like a celebrity. If you cannot afford this restaurant, put some money aside and get in here. It was my birthday dinner while we stayed at the Ranchiera RV Park. I made reservations which we really didn't need......Our drinks in the lounge were awesome as was the bartender and his knowledge about the food and drinks...he gets 5 Stars! The food was excellent and they also had a special birthday desert made up for me after my hubby told them it was my birthday!!! We've had dinner here many times over the years but this was the first time with the name change. Kinda strange when we got there they said there was a 45 minute wait, but there were only about 5 tables with anyone sitting at them. We went and ordered drinks at the bar and as we sat down they said they could sit us now. Now onto the food, we both orders salads and we like them a lot, blue cheese dressing was very good but they skimp on the amount for the size of the salad. I ordered Gumbo which had good flavor and was filling, I personally would like to see more sausage and chicken added to it with less mussels and clams but I would defiantly order it again. My wife had the clam fettuccine which she like as well. Only real complaint would be the lack of refills of water and when the band started playing on the terrace the ones still eating were somewhat forgotten about as servers were outside taking orders and serving drinks, and this is the reason for 3 stars and not 4' As for the live entertainment on the terrace, it a nice little venue and the band was decent but played to many songs from the early country western era. Also they should have a dedicated staff to serve drinks, the wait time was to long and some were ordering dinner and and the staff was slowed down by this and also serving the restaurant. read more

The food was delicious but the service was terrible. If I'm paying $150 for dinner for two, I expect decent service. My date's iced tea was empty for quite a long time. Normally, we would just ask someone for a refill but it was hard to get anyone's attenion. It seemed as though no one could be bothered and our server was no where to be found. Later I wanted another glass of wine, but I couldn't get anyone's attention & our server was MIA. And again, the iced tea was empty & we had to ask for a refill. Our server Ryan was seriously over the top eccentric and obnoxious. I ordered the rib eye steak rare and it came out medium well and completely un-seasoned as well as the side items which were completely mushed greens and polenta that was more like hardened grits. No seasoning. The ribs were dry as a bone. The filet was crap too. The only plus to the night was we brought our own wine which we served ourselves. Sad that the place has gone downhill cause it used to be good. I think a new chef is in order. read more

Was my go to for special occasions and we have had many years of good meals here. Must of had a change in management as the service tonight was terrible and the food was not as good as the past. We were at the casino losing all our money when we decided to take a break and get a drink and eat some dinner. We first hung out in the lounge waiting for my mother in law to finish losing her money. There was no place to sit except for one dirty table and then we got no services so we had to wait at the bar for quite some time. We then closed our check and went for dinner. The service at first was good, the server was attentive and helpful. The food was good and good portions. When we were finished with dinner we wanted dessert but our server was busy talking with another table. I was growing impatient and started looking at my watch, we sat another 17 minutes before he came over to check on us. We were done waiting and asked for the check. We had dessert somewhere else. Had he not taken so long he would have gotten more money out of us. As a former server of over 5 years, I realize that you sometimes get those tables that like to chat but you need to learn how to politely point out to them that you need to go check on your other tables. read more

My husband surprised me with an evening out at The Lone Wolf tonight and we were completely blown away. As locals we visit the casino often and frequently visit the buffet, but waited for a special occasion to visit The Lone Wolf. Our server, Ryan, was friendly, knowledagble and a true delight as he guided us though our dinner. We opted for the Date Night special, consisting in our case of corn two ways (delightfully fun), pork shank and skirt steak, and blackberry peach cobbler. Plus my glass of wine, it was one of the most phanominal meals I've had in a long time. Cooked to perfection, fall off the bone tender, I can't say enough for the food itself. The whole experience was one to remember, from th e beautiful atmosphere, classy touches (speigelau glasses!) and a clearly educated, well trained and motivated staff who made us feel like friends by the end of our meal. I've been coming to the casino for years. It's always been a good get away. Just recently have I discovered lone wolf. Before I get into the food and environment I want to talk about a specific server. His name is Kyle, he has taken care of us every time. He is so friendly and without a doubt he knows every aspect of the restaurant. He is so knowledgable in every dish they have and not to mention every alcoholic beverage in the book. I love the food and the environment but he made it ten times better. I had the seafood gumbo and it was amazing, good blend of fresh seafood and tender rice. I love the restaurant and the setting. We have been to Lone Wolf for dinner the past 4 years. The food has always been delicious and plentiful. On this recent trip Saturday night, I don't know what happened. We order the New York steak dinner. The steak was nice size but the sides were stuffed under the steak and barely there. My son ordered the salmon. It was served on a cedar plank and hardley any food on it. It looked like a 3 oz (maybe?) salmon with 1/2 cup of cous cous shoved under the salmon with 4-5 mushrooms and 4-5 small sliced onions. Really? Last year, the steak dinner had a nice helpling of mashed potatoes and vegetables. What's up chefs? I think you can do a little better with making sure there is ample food on the plate for the increased prices this year. read more

Went there for our 4th wedding anniversary dinner and the food was incredibly good! The pizza was out of this world! Our server was very attentive and kind. I am surprised to have such high quality food at a casino. We were seated next to the gloriously long fireplace and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. I had the lamb special served with potato gnocchi, it was very good and filling. Our server was attentive and informative. Of course the only drawback is having to find your way through the maze of slot machines to get to the restaurant. This is a new restaurant on the 2nd floor of the JR casino. We had drinks and apps in the bar. Very nice restaurant and has a nice feel A piano player keeps the tunes rolling. Drink prices are on the expensive side ($6 for 16oz prem beer). We had the Anitpasti app, good flavors, but again a bit pricey for what you expect at a place like this. SCALLOPS! I simply LOVE scallops! But, you all know the rule - if you aren't dining at a seaport, don't order scallops! Well, the Lone Wolf is in the Sierra Foothills nowhere near a seaport, but the first time we visited, I just HAD to order the scallops. I crossed my fingers and prayed, "Please be good, please be good!" But, no prayers were needed as these were the BEST scallops I've ever tasted! Better than top restaurants in San Francisco or Seattle! It has been my "go to" menu choice ever since and I just wanted to pass that information along to anyone dining at the Lone Wolf but afraid of ordering scallops in a non-seaport restaurant! The scallops are day scallops, meaning they are flown in daily - no preservatives, no freezing or ice - caught that day! Warpped in bacon and placed gently on a bed of the chef's favorite which changes from time to time (all of which have been excellent). My husband is the typical "meat and potatoes" guy and orders their filet mignon entry and, of course, it is fantastic but somewhat expected as this is probably considered by most to be a "steakhouse." The service here is fantastic! The wait staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The ambiance is quiet and classy yet friendly. Come dine at the Lone Wolf, and don't be afraid to try the scallops! read more

This could be the best fine-dining restaurant in Amador County, now that Susan's Place has closed. Even if you aren't interested in the casino, if you're looking for a special dining experience it's definitely worth a visit. The first time I was there was a Friday and we had the "date night" menu which is a fixed price with a few choices for appetizer, entree, and a shared dessert. I had a beautiful piece of sole and my companion had a vegetarian entree. The second time was an event on the patio with pizza and other heavy appetizers - deeeelish. You do have to walk through the casino to get to the elevator that takes you up to the restaurant, but that only takes a few minutes though you will be walking through a smoky casino. Hate smoke? Here's a tip: after you drop your car with the valet just walk back around the building a bit to the bus entrance - which opens into the non-smoking section of the casino. No smoke up in the restaurant, either. Big bar, big outdoor patio, terrific dining room. I'm a local and just about everyone I talk to who's been there is saying great things about it. My wife got the salmon and it was severely under cooked. The flat bread appetizer was excellent and the service was great. They do serve alcohol so that's a plus. read more

10 of us girls went to the Lone Wolf for a birthday celebration. We are all good cooks and like great food. We were not disappointed. Platters of mussels and bubbling butter were brought in as a dramatic appetizer- each dish served 4 and not a single mussel remained. We had the spinach/arugula salad that was tasty and then moved on to the entrees. It was a rainy night in Jackson, so most had the lamb shanks or the nicely plated scallops. The meats are done just right and the chef makes a real brown sauce from scratch, but he is just as adept at veggies: really interesting combinations and flavors. The server did a fine job, answered questions, took care of special needs and then left us alone unless we needed fill ups or looked for attention. Very smooth. It was a birthday event, so we had the dessert trays that were so beautiful. They'd written the birthday greeting in chocolate on the white tray around the desserts. Perfect! Elegant and fun. Coffee is served hot and rich from presses. Yes, the place is a little pricey, but you actually get "fine dining" as a result. There is a nice wine list with lots of offerings from Amador County. We are looking for an excuse to go again. read more
