Listen I am not the outdoors type so when we decided to try this out I was afraid! When arrived about a hour before closing and they allowed us to still go out with the canoes. We signed our wavier and was given a step by step guide on how to canoe and properly Maneuver in the lake. With the help of the staff we actually did really good ! We went out into the water and didn't fall out the boats hahaha. The water was pretty clear also so I felt comfortable if we did accidentally fall in.

I skipped all summer last year due to my shoulder but I was there on 5/18 and it was great being back. Weather was fantastic, easy check-in. I will be back again. Next time, I will try paddle board.

Beautiful views from the lake. Very peaceful.

Beautiful views good equipment friendly staff. Easy to rent. Very affordable. The only downside is you have to pay $10 park entrance fee to get to the kayak place.

We had a blast yesterday!!! The 2 guys who helped us with the Kayak rentals were super nice and very helpful. We did a little hiking afterwards and everyone we passed were so friendly and didn't hesitate to say Hello!! Overall Rockledge park was a great experience and we will definitely be returning soon.

Great little place, my mom wanted to try kayaking so we decided to give it a shot. Was well worth the drive from Fort Worth. Great education and equipment is well kept.

Got a double kayak and also took our dog on the kayak. It was fun! Guys were nice and I'll definitely be back. Everyone around was having a good time! They have life jackets and will instruct you if you need it.

I had given these guys nice advertisement in my neighborhood next to Rockledge. park. After today, I will not do business with this company ever. We paid for a 2 hr kayak, registered our 5 nephews and nieces with a nice gent. Submitted paperwork online. Kayak ready to launch. Then the owner Peter came down to shore and told us we had to pay for $5 per kid. I asked why wasn't this handled before earlier during the transaction. He states it's the law because it's for life jackets. Our kids already had their life jackets provided by the park. He would not let us launch eating our time, arguing back and forth. He kept making statements and implying he was being robbed. Accused us of 'not abiding by the law while the kids stood there with lifejackets on". At that point, after watching how he treats his customers after his employee makes a mistake, we cancelled. The guy had the nerve to say oh, "You can't be over in this cove. Your family can't swim here." I told him last I checked this was a public park and unless he owned the cove, people can swim where they want. Additionally we frequent this park given its next to Lakeside DFW and told him there were plenty of people swimming this cove just last 4th of July weekend. Completely unprofessional megomaniac! The story gets better. I added an extra star because he finally came over and apologized. However he blamed his employee. He said they had not been trained." My jaw dropped because he never apologized for his behavior and instead blamed his staff. He offered a free hour which we declined. I truly hopes he learns from this review. Response to his reply Dropping him down to a one star as this owner is a liar. I never spoke to his employees after he started accusing us and only spoke to him. I refused his offer after he blamed his employees. My nephews found him deplorable. He cannot see his treatment of my family as absolutely rude esp towards my brother who is a military doctor. I think he saw our brown skin as somehow an issue and hence treated us poorly. Say what you want. This review stays on.

First, working with Steve was so easy and relaxed! As you can imagine, coordinating a kayak trip with Texas weather and multiple involved Girl Scouts posed a bit of a logistical nightmare but Steve was understanding all along the way! He was understanding when we dropped a few girls and added one back on and when weather canceled us the first few times he was very clear and quick with the communication. Second, Steve was incredibly informative and patient with our Girl Scouts. This was a group of girls ages 11-15 but most of our group fell into the 11-12 year old range. He kept the girls on task and made sure they were watching at the important parts without coming across as too tough. The girls LOVED the experience and I highly recommend Steve and Discover Kayak to Girl Scouts and new kayakers alike. Thanks again Steve!

Entering is as easy as scanning the QR code provided when entering the park and typing in your car license plate. As of June 2025, the entrance fee was $10, and this was on a weekend if that matters. Inside the park the car parking is very limited and to get a spot you either get lucky or just have to wait for other cars to leave. To prevent anyone trying to park illegal they positioned big rocks on the grass. There is a playground with swings and slides and multiple pavilions with shade. There is a small fishing pier and a beach like waterfront for swimming and fishing. We decided to try our luck and cast our rods out in the lake and surprisingly we caught a 3lb catfish within 10 minutes. We stayed about 2 hours and just got bites but nothing else. There are restrooms onsite and they have water fountains but when I was there, they were not working. There is a boat dock to release your boats and jet skis out in the water and while we were there, they had a good amount of people out in the water with their boats. Overall, we enjoyed our time here and will most likely return in the future for some fishing and hanging out with the family.

After the gate is closed if you need to be let out, you have to call the police. But there's so much to do here! Not just the swimming area! There's a hiking trail, playground and walking trails. Beautiful views and plenty of space to social distance yourself. The trails are available for no fee as far as I could tell, but the swimming area near WhoaZone is $5. They do not take cash, only debit/credit card. The swimming area has a playground and picnic areas. I think there's a spot to cast your kayaks off over there too, but I stayed near the beach and didn't explore anything else. I saw vehicles with kayaks going over on the other side. If you have water shoes, I'd say bring them and a beach umbrella as there's no shade. The sand isn't too uncomfortable to lie in, there's just cigarette butts here and there. But I definitely recommend visiting for the day or even camping if you're into it!

The rock bottom extends out a couple of yards into the water, where it turns to clay. For swimmers, the rockiness is less of an issue - get past the rocks and swim/float your heart out, but the rocks along the shore make it significantly less enjoyable for babies. Running along the shore and splashing in the shallow water is painful without water shoes. For a true SANDY BEACH, check out Twin Points Park at Eagle Mountain Lake or Little Elm on Lake Lewisville instead. Twin Points is nicer, if you're deciding between the two. Pros: it's a pretty spot, with nice views. Plenty of parking - $5 per car. CREDIT/DEBIT ONLY. There is a dock for jumping off (which we didn't notice until we were leaving, sadly!). Not very crowded on a Saturday in August. Pretty clean, other than the bathrooms. Alcohol permitted (or if not permitted, certainly not regulated). Days swimming at the lake are SO MUCH FUN! Aside from the rocky shore, the only big negative was how gross the bathrooms were. We were there pretty early, so clearly they aren't cleaned daily. Also, the whoa zone is SO EXPENSIVE!!!! It looks fun but I cannot wrap my head around the fact that people pay that much to be there. It's $22 a person for ONE HOUR! Mon-Thurs they also offer a $50 all day pass. For our family of 7, I consider that cost prohibitive. Overall, it was a fun day at the lake, but Meadowmere Park is just not the best DFW has to offer.
