IT MUST RUN IN THE FAMILY I contacted the Windsor store to purchase a drum kit for cash. There was an identicle set on for a hundred dollars off. Just a different finish. I asked the store manager if I could get the finish I wanted for the same price. It couldn't be done I was told. I contacted Jeff Long by e-mail and didn't even get a reply. This as of today 2019 04 12.,e-mail sent 9 days before this date. I too am sorry that the Leone's location is no more. I'm thinking it might even be too much to think that they L&M would throw in a pr. of drum sticks in with the 1,000's payed on the drums and hardware. Note ... FAMILY meaning L&M name. For the biggest selection of musical equipment Long & Mcquade is the place to go. With that being said I am not a fan of the customer service at the Windsor location at all. The reason I always came back is because they have the biggest selection and cheaper prices than my local music store. I asked if I could try out one of the acoustic drum kits on display and the worker told me I wasn't allowed to play on it. So I can't even try out the drum kits but when it comes to playing guitar there is always a dozen customers testing out the guitars. It doesn't make sense to me. You go to any other music store and it is only expected that customers are going to try out the drum kits before they buy them. I wonder how many kits they actually sell in Windsor since they don't let their customers play on them. Whenever I ask a question to somebody they look at me like I am idiot. I don't ask questions anymore if I decide to show up because I always get some awkward vibes from the workers at the store. I just research the information for myself so that I know exactly what I am getting into if I plan to make a purchase. I can remember walking in once having to stand at the counter for like 15 minutes while the guy was talking on the phone. He saw me and he knew I was waiting but he didn't care. The workers are always stoney and super slow to get you something from the back room if you plan on buying anything big. I used to buy most of my stuff from Leone's Music before they shut down. It used to have good customer service and they didn't treat me like an alien when I walked into their store. They even got Dimebag Darrell to make an appearance at their shop. Who really shows up at Long & Mcquade Windsor? I mean I notice Mcquades having drum clinics and stuff all the time but usually they bypass the Windsor location. The best events are always happening in Toronto and Ottawa. It is the way I have been treated throughout the years at this place that made the decision really easy for me to buy cables, picks, and strings from Best Buy. I love Long & Mcquade but im sorry the Windsor location feels like a book club for trendy hipsters. Why treat me like I am an idiot when you are the ones who don't let the customers play on the drum kits?! I am the weirdo?! No man. This is not how you conduct business at a store. I have worked lots of jobs dealing with customer service and if I acted the way you guys do I would probably get canned. What would make me want to come back to the Windsor store? Show me some respect, don't be a hipster, I want to try the equipment out before I buy it, and why not host some events to make the store a little more interesting? Guitar Center has song writing competitions and drum competitions every year. With a franchise as enormous as Long & Mcquade they could easily be doing the same type of thing. I love this store. You can buy everything here but the customer service is ridiculous. It's a love hate relationship. Next time you think what ever happened to that guy that we used to give funny looks to and treat him like he wasn't a musician? Yeah, I stopped showing up because of the way you acted. I was very disappointed with my visit to Long & McQuade today. I came in with the intention of purchasing a mandolin, a set of studio speakers, or new headphones. Although I was approached for assistance while browsing guitars, the overall condition of the store left much to be desired. When looking at speakers, I found only 1 set plugged in aside from the subwoofer. When I went to plug in different speakers in order to compare, there was no power cable being run to any other options. Rather than recabling the whole store, I moved on to browsing headphones. The rack was so tangled with all of the cords that not only was it a chore to identify which headphones were plugged in where, I could barely get some of them up to my ears in the first place. Of the 3 electric drum kits on display, only one had a set of headphones, and one earpiece was broken right off. Although I understand that busy days can lead to disorder in a retail setting, seeing more than one employee spending their time playing guitar behind the counter rather than tending to any of these issues results in some frustration. Needless to say I left empty-handed, as I shouldn't have to reorganize a store in order to figure out what I want to spend my money on. I will happily bring my business to an establishment that cares enough about their customers to show respect for their merchandise, and does what they can to ensure a simple and enjoyable shopping experience. read more
