Big fan of small business in the community. I look at Ace or local hardware biz before any big box store, no mater where I'm at in the country. I recently was docked in Long Beach and needed a few supplies. Stopped by Ace in the morning, the girls up front snd the stuff were so helpful and pleasant. I bought a fan abs cordless vacuum (dirt devil). I took the vacuum back to the boat and tried to use it to vacuum the edges inside the boat. It just just did not have any sucking power what so ever. So I tried to suck up some loose flour to see what the issue was. It had a hard time sucking up that loose on the counter top. I emptied it out and packaged it back up to return the defective product or maybe this product just does not do what is advertised. Either way, I brought it back to return. The girls up front remembered me a d my great spirits. They returned it without question. I asked about some wood moisturizing products they had in stock. One of the associates was knowledgeable of these types of products and suggested a good option. As I started to leave the manager of the store approached me and said that they never should have returned the vacuum after using it. Now I have to throw it away and loose money on the dealI explained nicely that the product was defective and did not do what it was supposed too. I said I tried to vacuum sever different things and it just would not pick up. I even tried to vacuum my leather seat in my Jeep and it would not pick up the loose sand on the surface. I apologized and said I did not realize that all sales are final and no returns were allowed. He looked at me and in a rude manner, asked me if I've ever head of a car wash. They have vacuum that you use in your car. The manager was very rude to me throughout the entire time he approached me. I remained in good spirits and apologized a few times, but he continued to come at me with rude remarks. I walked out scratching my head. He followed me out and said something else as I was getting into my Jeep. I didn't hear what he said, but the look on his face was not pleasant. The staff is amazing at this store! The manager, tall gentleman with light hair has some personal issues to de with and should not bring it to his business. I wish him the best of luck, but I won't shop here ever again due to my experience with the owner/ manager. Be kind to others and enjoy your day everyone! Over & out! read more

The owner Tyler Barnes did damage to my personal properly while trying to help yes, but when I asked about helping to fix it or where else I could take it to fix the damage he yelled at me, kicked me out of the store and told me to take him to small claims court. My aggressive inline skate cost over $500 and now I can't use it and he won't even refund the cost of the tool I paid him to use to "fix" it. So I paid to have my skate broken, be yelled at, and kicked out of a store....okay. Terrible experience. He just kept yelling about how he has 37 years of experience and I know nothing ... I wish all of that experience had gone into fixing my skate or being a professional business owner. I've never been called out of my name by a business owner before. Yelling at a woman too. This appears to be a busy sure, so they must be fine something right. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience here. I checked on line and saw the item is need was in stock at this location. So I drove 20 minutes across town to get it. When I arrived at the store, the clerk told me they didn't have it and, get this, the reason he gave me was the supply chain is all screwed up because of.... wait for it... COVID. So I'm supposed to be stupid enough to believe the Ace Hardware inventory database is off because of COVID. I could deal with the item being out of stock, but not with being told a blatant lie. Just got some extra keys made for the kids, home, and my car. Jason was friendly, and helpful. He checked to make sure the car keys worked (had my car with me). Four keys made; one did not work right. He just cut a new one and set me on my way. The house keys have worked in the past, so I don't anticipate any problems but if one doesn't work, I can bring it back and they will replace it. Thank you Jason! I like this store because it is a small little neighborhood store and I've found everything I need. The employees are friendly and helpful. Forget going to any of the Big Box hardware stores when it comes to personalized service. This is a small detail and purchase, but the story is true. I had a real problem, my deadbolt lock on a metal sliding gate failed. Due to the hole size and where the lock was placed, replacement was going to be a big deal. Desperate for a solution i removed the deadbolt and brought it to Dennis/ genius behind the key counter at the Long Beach store. 30 minutes later he rebuilt my old lock and i was out the door. Service was exceptional as noted in other reviews. I had the pleasure of meeting one the actual owners of this store, Tommy. There are other shops and stores where the owners stay away or hide behind closed doors. This was definitely not the case with this shop. The assistance was greatly appreciated. Visiting a friend and she had a leak under her sink and we all know how expensive a plumber can cost. With that in mind, we did a quick drive to the hardware store with some pictures from under the sink on her phone. They figured out the problem just by looking at the pictures and sold us the plastic pipe, which by the way just screws in, and we were off and out the door. So the update. Yes, we fixed it and it has been going strong, no leaks for 3 days. I have always liked the Ace Hardware stores. Today, for me, it was Manager Rory, but I've been treated the same way by everyone I've interacted with there. When you first step nto the store, an employee will usually offer to help, but they do it low-key. They're gracious whether you say yes or no.
