John I did not specifically ask for a radiator, I brought my car to you regarding a coolant leak and I know I didn't say the radiator because I was concerned it was another part. I brought my vehicle to you and you called stating I needed a new radiator. I was going through a lot mentally and emotionally so I decided to trust you since you were referred and the part is over priced. Come on John, just take some accountability. I brought my vehicle in due to a coolant leak, I paid $500 which you raised the price once the work was done, and when I went home the next morning I look in my drive way to see an active coolant leak. BEWARE: Dishonest and Overpriced Service, Especially if You're a Woman! I had a terrible experience with this mechanic, and I feel obligated to warn others. The first time I brought my car in, he was very kind, diagnosing a missing bolt without charging me. That made me trust him, but it was a mistake. The second time, both my tail lights went out. He claimed my headlight motherboard was blown and needed replacement, along with new headlight assemblies, to prevent water damage. He quoted me $780 total ($480 for parts, $300 for labor). Assuming the $480 was for two headlights (based on dealership prices), I agreed. When I picked up my car, only ONE headlight had been replaced. When my fiancé called to clarify the pricing and requested a copy of the invoice, the mechanic became defensive, yelled at her, and refused to provide proof of the part's cost. He then hung up and screened our calls. This behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional. It's clear I was overcharged and misled. Women should not be taken advantage of in this way! I am now filing complaints with the BAR and BBB and pursuing further action. Avoid this shop at all costs--don't let this happen to you! read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Friendly guys, good service. We had the catalytic converter stolen from our 2009 Prius last year (just one of many such thefts, unfortunately) and were in search of a place to install a shield over the new one. After talking to a couple of places, I was referred to John at LB Auto Clinic. I gave John a call and he told me to just get a shield off Amazon or wherever and he'd install it for $85 (the minimum they charge for work, their regular hourly charge being $110 as of this writing). I found one for about $150, called and made an appointment and brought it in. Vehicle intake was fast and easy, and a few hours later we got a call saying the car was ready. Overall it was a pleasant experience, and hopefully this will make our catalytic converter a little harder to steal. read more

Took my car a few weeks ago for back breaks replacement. According to the owner i believe his name is John he called me to say i needed new drums. I agreed for him to fix whatever i needed. According to them they put new drum and break. Well my car continue having a noise. I took my car again for the noise and to replace my breaks again but he said it was the axel and something else. I took it to another shop and there they showed me that my breaks and drums where never replaced and i got charged for something that was not done. The mechanic went to this shop to tell them to don't do this things to people. Specially us woman that don't know anything about cars. The Owner John was very unprofessional and threatened him with his dog. He was very disrespectful towards my mechanic calling him a dirty mechanic. I left my car there with John and I say he's a very honest and fair individual. Gave me fair price on new belts to be performed. He always confirms everything with u with a quote of price without obligations. One time he said for me to just do it myself and save some money. For home to give me that advice I know he is t trying to gouge u for money. I'll be coming back for mor if my other problems . I used to be very pleased with their service. it is pretty hard to find a mechanic that is honest and cheap. When the dad was in charge, that is exactly how this place was. Honest labor at a fair price. I took my car in one time because the brakes were making noise (I had about 70K miles on the pads). The dad called me up about an hour later and said that it was just some "brake dust" making the noise. So he blew them out with his air compressor and didnt even charge me. WOW! that was awesome. He could have railroaded me for new pads and what not. Present day, with the son incharge of things, this place is not even a shadow of what it used to be. I brought my truck in to get the A/C belt changed, and when I picked it up, he not only changed the AC belt, but changed another belt without my permission. Total bill was around $250.00 What a rip off. I would have liked him to call first without these ad hoc repairs. His explanation was something like "for the good of the truck." This review is long overdue but I felt I had to wait because of the severity of work that was needed to repair my car. In November of 2014, I had to have an entire rebuilt engine constructed due to shoddy workmanship from another auto mechanic, that will go nameless. I was referred to the Long Beach Auto Clinic from a buddy of mine whose father has had a relationship with them for over 50 years. Because of the damage to my engine from the timing belt breaking, the guys at the Long Beach Auto Clinic had to keep my car for an extended amount of time in order to rebuild the entire engine. However, Here I am over one year later, and my car has had zero problems and runs better than it ever did before. LB Auto Clinic is incredible. My battery died and when the AAA guy lifted my hood we found that the battery acid had leaked and corroded everything. AAA couldn't change out the battery so he got me started and told me to take it straight to a mechanic. My husband took it to no less than 5 places and none of them would touch it. All of them said that the terminal and line were beyond repair. So we took it to the dealership who quoted us a thousand dollars just for the part. As a last ditch effort my husband took it to LB Auto Clinic. John was able to clean it up and easily remove the parts that everyone else said would break if they touched them and he practically did it for free. So nice to find an honest mechanic! Their establishment is well maintained, and they complete the work on your vehicle in a timely manner. John's place was recommended to me by a co-worker years ago, and I have been recommending L.B. I took my van there thinking I needed new brakes, but when the guys pulled off all 4 tires to inspect the pads, John informed me I still had 60% of the pads left, and they did not even charge me.
