Similar to other kayak tours I've done, we were fitted with PFDs and given a basic tutorial on how to paddle/ maneuver in the kayaks. The owner/guide Don was very knowledgable and did a great job making sure that the group moved together and that we were safe at all times. After kayaking around the river we stopped off for a picnic dinner on Shark Tooth Island. It was fun hunting for fossilized shark teeth and other shells. My two criticisms of the tour were: 1) There wasn't much to see. We kayaked a little way down the river and then turned down a grassy side channel. Besides a couple of herons in trees and some alligator tracks there was not much scenery and it became boring after a little while. 2) The food options for dinner were a little underwhelming. They had some store bought sandwich thins/wraps and deli cold cuts for dinner. Without the Groupon the price of the 3 hour tour is $150/per person. I didn't feel that this tour was much of an "adventure" and the food definitely left something to be desired.

Picked out the best equipment for us to use and set us up for success. It was a beautiful day on the water. We saw pelicans hunting, which was super interesting to watch. We saw egrets and seagulls. That was great. The wake from the boats blasting by wasn't as much fun. I enjoyed the paddling, while the hubs kept saying, "now I know exactly why man invented engines for boats." The hubs and I have been considering getting a kayak to enjoy the water and nature. We booked this tour to see if our thoughts matched what we experienced. What we learned today saved us at least $1,200, because although I like Kayaking the hubs hated it. We declared it the best $50 we've spent in a long time!

The owner, and tour guide, Kay Lynn was great. Very knowledgeable about the ecosystems and the river. We selected the Eagles Island kayak tour. Kay Lynn made it very easy for us. Supplied everything we needed, outside of water (note, do not bring plastic bottles). We had a blast. I would highly recommend WOA. Kay Lynn has three main tours, Eagles Island, Masonboro Island and Greenfield Lake. You can book and pay for a tour using the WOA website. I highly recommend WOA.

It is one of the most peaceful places to visit. Around the island you look for sharks teeth and you are guaranteed to find at least a small handful... There's also a center of the island at low tide that you can build a fire on, camp on, and just hang out in the cool shade. I don't actually know if you're supposed to camp on it or build a fire on it but it's obvious that people do. Definitely sleep in a Hamic because the island goes underwater at high tide. I absolutely recommend to anyone who comes and visits! We try to go most weekends.. Some of the kayak rental shops around town will meet you at the River so you can kayak over.
