As I mentioned, this is the second time in the short period since I purchased and had the fence installed by your company, that it has required replacement of panels, which have warped and/or have fallen off. Having the fence panels fall off and warping with the imminent threat of falling is not only an embarrassing eyesore to my property and defeats the purpose of installing a privacy fence, but also is an extreme danger to myself, my guests, my pet, my neighbors, and the automobiles that are parked behind it. There were multiple emails making sure I was going to be available for this time slot and that if I couldn't make it to please let the company know. Well guess who was the one that didn't make the appointment, long fence. No call, no nothing, just a complete no-show. If this is how the relationship starts (when they are supposed to be trying to get your business) I cant even imagine what it would be like to use this company. Don't use this company if you will require any call backs for problems. Long Fence installed a new backyard wooden fence in my new home about 2 years ago and the gates settled after a year. I repaired one gate myself after it would not close and the second gate had hinges that were pulling loose. I called and talked to Tina the customer rep and sent pictures of the loose hinges and even offered to pay for repair visit! She never called back and after 2+ weeks my gate was loose and I repaired and reset the hinges and locks---about 2 hours work--myself. Poor customer service and incompetent representatives. Ordered a fence, took 6 months to get. The representatives took all the measurements but screwed up our fence order by leaving a portion off and unbeknownst to us we didn't find out until the materials arrived. Contacted them but they do not return calls once they have a contract. The manager was unapologetic for their error and made no effort to correct the problem. Hence, with such poor customer service when they made the error, we will work with another company to get our fence install completed. Take my advice, stay away from Long Fence. They do good commercials but lack customer service. Try Clinton Fence, Mid-Atlantic or Medallion. They all offer best customer care and service than Long Fence. Absolutely horrible customer service!! Our deck is in such disrepair to the point that its structurally unsound. Long fence built this deck in 2003 with what looks like the very 1st trex product ever. They didnt space the boards correctly and now the water has saturated the entire deck making it impossible for water to drain. The stringers for the steps are rotting away and they are very unstable. I had a rep come out yesterday who sent me an email today stating that since I'm a new owner the warranty is null and void ut theyd be happy to build me a new deck lol. I called to inquire about having a deck installed. It took 2weeks to get an appointment. I got an email confirmation with an appointment set for 6/2/2020 from 12 noon- 2pm. The guy Markell knox called me at 12:25pm leaving me a voice mail to let me know he was on the way. I didn't get the message until almost 2 hours later and when I did I immediately called back and he said "I'm lucky I called him back because he wasn't going to come if he didn't hear back" This is so unprofessional!! I didn't answer because I was doing something and didn't notice I missed the call. He showed up 5 mins after the scheduled window time and took measurements but NEVER got back to me with the estimate. I called numerous time and got no response. I spoke to supervisors and left complaints and still never received the estimate. I expressed to him how I wanted it completed ASAP and he said he would get it to me before the close of business the next day. He never responded and I never heard from him again. No one else ever came out to do the estimate or do the job. It's a year later and I'm looking for another company. I know things are slower because of covid but this does not apply to this situation. From my original consultation on December 27, 2017, by Long Fence Sales Associate, Patrick, it took until January 31, 2018, to have my fence installed. Unfortunately, upon installation, I discovered Patrick did not quote me for the cost to fence in my entire yard per my request thus causing me to contact Long Fence again to receive a second contract, financing, and invoice to correct the issue. I took a second day off from work for the installation crew to return on February 17, 2018 to finish installing my fence. Once the installation was finished, I hoped Long Fence, their sales associate Patrick, and I could part ways as my payments would be completed through Wells Fargo. On March 30, 2018, I received a telephone call stating I needed to provide a copy of my second invoice so they could appropriately bill me for my fence through Wells Fargo. After reviewing my copies of the documents, I never received a copy of the second invoice. Luckily, I had April 2, 2018 off from work for the holidays and was able to drive thirty minutes from my home to the Capital Heights office in hopes of completing an invoice to close out my file and get my Wells Fargo account current. Upon arrival, the front desk staff at the Capital Heights office were polite and accommodating while they attempted to help correct my invoice issue; however, their office does not have copies of the invoice document in house and were unable to assist me. On April 2, 2018, I drove an addition thirty from the Capital Heights Long Fence office to the Odenton Long Fence office (an hour away from my home) to sign an invoice which should have been completed by the Sales Associate Patrick on January 31 when he sold me the additional portion of my fence due to his misunderstanding of my expectations and request. Tammy at the Odenton office was very kind and appreciative of my travels to help the company settle my fencing account dilema which was caused by one of their sales associates. Per my request, Tammy also connected me with the residential manager to express my frustrations and concerns. The residential manager Drew was very calm, respectful, and considerate as I expressed my frustration from my experience with Long Fence and their poorly managed sales associate Patrick. Drew listened and responded to each concern with polite comments on Long Fence policies, best practices, and how the situations I experienced should have been handled by my sales associate. While most companies refuse to take ownership of mistakes or errors, Drew stated this circumstance would provide a learning opportunity for their department and be used to improve training and practices expected of their sale associates. Though my interaction with the Long Fence office staff did help ease my mind, it does not impact my fencing as I have already acquired my fence and payments were previously agreed upon. At this time, I cannot recommend Long Fence. In the event you feel Long Fence is the correct fit for your contracting needs, be certain to walk the entire area with your sales representative, assist in the measurement collection, check the footage total, state where you want specific posts placed, and do not be afraid to contact Long Fence and request a different sales associate. read more

I bought a fence from long fence and was happy with the product and the installation crew (probably because they were subcontractors). Overall the administration of this company is a dumpster fire. No one knows what's going on. They take 10 days and multiple phone calls and emails to respond to customers. For my other properties I definitely won't go with them but for this property that I had the work done, they were the only company who offered what I wanted. They called me and emailed me at 7:30 am one day to let me know they were coming to install. I mean, for real? Same day notice to have crews at my house? I emailed to respond saying this was atrocious customer service and never got a response. I also asked did they have the permit (which I paid them to pull). They were like, oh, did I need a permit? We discovered the landlord wouldn't allow us to fix most of the fence, so we had Myron fix the invoice/work order. The guys came out to fix the fence, but the guy told me, "We have to do the work order." Well, that would put me in a bad position since the landlord won't allow them to fix portions of the fence AND I would end up paying the entire $1000. The work order gets figured out and they schedule another appointment to come out. We waited and waited. Finally the men call and tell us they will come at 2pm when they were scheduled to arrive between 9am-11am. No one would have been here. When I ask for a complete refund they claim that they need to pay the workers and will deduct $198. Report these people to the Better Business Bureau. It's a scam to take your money. I contracted with Long Fencing to replace two gates into my back yard. They advertise you need a long fence to keep your pets and children safe, well I have no children, but I do have pets. Even before the installers left I told them I would not be paying for the fence, since the gate did not come down to the ground, and the dogs could simply walk under the gate. It took almost two months to get the supervisor out to look at the gate, and he agreed it needed to be lowered, after another two months they came out and lowered the gate, however it is still so high off the ground level the dogs can just stroll out of the yard under the gate. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. Terrible company, I'd find someone else to install a gate or fence if I was doing the again. read more

Zero Stars, zero stars I hate Long Fence with all of my Yelper heart. They are horrible. It took them 10 months to put my fence in and they did it wrong. I screamed and cried on the phone to them several times, more than all my ex boyfriends combined. They may be fine for some fancy house in suburban MD but in DC, they don't have the skills to put in anything. They put the fence in the wrong place! 2 feet closer in than they should! In the burbs, that may not be the end of the world, on Capitol Hill - that was 10 percent of my freakin' yard! They did a bad job, put the fence in the wrong place, sold me the wrong product and gave me no course of action. I still hate how they made me feel. The boyfriend and I got a quote from Long Fence which came in above $18,000 for around 425 feet...then with discounts down to $13,900. (which is $33 a square foot). It was for a Mount Vernon Dip with unfinished board on board 1 1/2 inch spacing which is required by our HOA. Honestly, this is probably the type of large company that can be either spectacular or completely terrible depending on the sales rep and the contractors that are assigned. I guess if you have a terrible sales rep, you won't be buying the fence from Long Fence, so we can skip to the communications and the delivery. My sales rep Adam was great, he worked with me to make sure the work order was accurate and walked the property with me to stake it the day before delivery. The office manager was great in that she communicated to me the scheduled delivery and was available if I had any questions. The cost was great because I had a number of quotes and Long was able to work with me to get the best price possible based on my estimates in hand. The local outfits were much more expensive or unresponsive. The crew that installed the fence was fantastic. The craftsmanship was excellent and they completed a fairly large job in one day (Mt. Vernon Dip Picket + 2 gates). They cleaned up after themselves and listened to my micromanaging to make sure that we were on the same page. Sure, you probably have to be proactive with this company, but you should know that going into it. I was available to be onsite during the installation so no miscommunications or mistakes happened. Looking at another reviewer's complaint that the fence was installed "2 feet into the property" just shows that she should have present during the staking of the property of the day of installation. It is easy to have discrepancies with a fence install, it is the consumer's responsibility to do everything he/she can to keep that from happening. I'd definitely recommend Long Fence in the DC area to anybody that knows what they want. read more

Finally chose to use Long Fence for fencing services. Needed repairs to existing fence. Estimator would only drive by to perform estimates when I was not home. Spent time emailing corrections back and forth. Mistakenly contracted with Long Fence anyway. Without any heads up, repairs crews did work I had no opportunity to be present. Upon inspection I observed all need work was not completed. There was still missing and broken fence. How was this not noticeable. According to Long Fence, the portions of fence that stilled needed repairs were not in the included in the estimate even though I spent time making corrections. I differed however, closed the job to avoid a collections process. Now I had to enter into a new job resulting in more expense. Once again they showed and completed half the job. No notice, no coordination. My over all experience with Long Fence has been awful and it's not over yet. read more

This is the email sent to the LF attorney who tried to SUE ME even though THEY BREACHED the contract. I am writing you to let you know about what transpired with my deck/fence installation. On April 19, 2019, Mark Spurrier, Sales Associate, came to my home and we completed my contract for my deck/fence repair due to a fire. I gave him a personal check for $880.00 and in my contract it clearly states that the work would begin in 8-10 weeks from the date of the contract and would take 1-3 days. It was my expectation that I would be able to enjoy the fence for the July 4th holiday weekend and beyond. I reached out to Mr. Spurrier (443-226-9996) NUMEROUS times via phone and text and he NEVER responded to ANY of my calls or text messages. I tried calling the number (410-793-0600) on my contract several times to speak to someone to get information or the name of someone who could possibly assist me with getting the repair done. After several phone calls I was given the name of Michael Patterson, Dispatch. During my conversation with Mr. Patterson he informed me that he could not assist me since he was just the Dispatch person and that I needed to speak to Jeff Tarr. I reached out to Mr. Tarr (301-350-2400 Ext. 4009) numerous times to no avail. Frustrated, I then reached out to the Corporate Office (301-261-3444) and was told that I needed to speak to Tom Ritter. I called Mr. Ritter (443-332-4590) and was able to speak with him. During our conversation, he informed me that he was actually leaving the office to catch a flight to go out of town but would have someone call me to schedule. When that did not happen, I contacted the Better Business Bureau to file a formal complaint. Once the BBB got involved, that's when I FINALLY received some movement! Mr. Tarr reached out to me to schedule an appointment but it was NOT an easy process as they wanted to come when they wanted to come and NOT when it was convenient for me. As I explained to Mr. Tarr, I was off ALL summer long since I work as a Principal of a school and since I had to jump through NUMEROUS hoops just to get an appointment that they would have to work within the confines of MY schedule! So as not to prolong the installation any further, I ended up taking off on Friday, September 10, 2021 to get the repairs done. Now I do not expect you to care about my plight with this entire situation; however, I wanted to assure that you at least knew what transpired with this whole situation. I had to wait FIVE MONTHS to get my deck repaired! I had to call NUMEROUS people within Long Fence! I had to end up contacting the BBB to get ANYWHERE with my repair! This whole situation was a BREACH of MY CONTRACT especially since I paid my initial $880.00 and signed a contract in good faith. Long Fence did me WRONG, BREACHED the CONTRACT and now you want to harass me for payment due? I PAY MY BILLS ON TIME AND I HONOR MY CONTRACTS but LONG FENCE did me WRONG and they know it! Additionally, my contract stipulates that my payments were to be broken down as follows: $880.00 due with order; $880.00 due when materials are delivered and $880.00 due on day of substantial completion. Since this job was done WELL after the terms of the contract, the materials and the work were all done on the same day! So now, you are expecting a FULL payment of the balance due! They installed a split rail fence and the wire meshing that is supposed to keep things IN or OUT is too high in some spots, leaving it open to neighbors dogs, my dog escaping, racoons... whatever might feel like waltzing into my yard through the large gapping holes left by POOR WORKMANSHIP! The contract for my fence stated installation in 4-6 weeks but it was 11 weeks. The customer service is very poor; I had to constantly call about when the fence would be installed. Finally a date was given for installation and I was to receive a phone call the night before for an approximate time. I never received the call. After months of waiting, someone came out to give me an estimate for a fence repair. He wore a mask, but got within feet of me, did not do anything to maintain distance, and asked me immediately why I didn't use another company (yes, seriously). He said they didn't have the style of fence we have, and then showed me a notebook where they have something similar. I asked if we could please go look to see if something would work (...?). When we went, he said "oh, I think something can work" and then came back with an estimate. By that time, I was so eeked out by the lack of care, concern for social distancing, and by the fact he wasn't even presenting us with options (I would have been interested in completely re-doing the fence and knowing that cost versus just repairs) that I kept calling around. I got an offer for similar work for a thousand dollars less, which made me wonder--if Long wasn't going to offer a competitive price, why couldn't you at least offer competitive customer service? I understand folks are busy, but I cannot believe the disregard for public health protocols (6 feet of distance), the fact that when I asked how much it would cost to do something similar to our neighbor's (who had gotten theirs from Long) he just said "don't know," and tried to fight even giving me an estimate. I'm looking for a contractor to build a fence in my backyard. So I called Long's Fence to get a free quote. They gave me an appointment time (12-2). I received a call at 130 pm. Its the person who is supposed to conduct the quote. He told me he is finishing up financial paperwork with another client. I say ok. He stated he would be wrapping it up in 30 minutes or so and would give me a call afterwards. Its currently 3 pm (two hours after that call) and no call. I hired Long Fence to rebuild an existing fence. The salesman came to my home, took the order and a 50% deposit. After months of calls to customer service I still don't have my fence. Customer service is awful, and they complain about customers when I call. I'm trying to get my deposit returned, but now they won't return messages. The Long in Long fence really refers to the Long time it takes to complete the work. In our case, Long Fence gave us a decent price, however, they were two panels short of finishing the fence. The contractor told us it would take 2 days and they'd be back to finish the job. Meanwhile 1 and a half months later, our fence is still not finished. There are two companies that do most of the fence work in my neighborhood, Long Fence being one of them. Although they were more expensive we decided to go with them since the sales rep insisted they were superior in quality. He said since they do so many fences in the neighborhood he knew exactly what we needed. We signed the contract and were very excited to get our new fence. Please see the first picture. It's a good thing my neighbor was home to send me that while it was being framed up asking me what he did to upset me. With the fence they had started to build, it was as if they were auditioning to get the contract for the Mexican border wall. Not only would the fence at that height been a complete eye sore, but would have violated our home owners association. Every single home in my neighborhood (over 200 homes) all have 5 ft fences. Why they thought it was appropriate to put in a Robinson Crusoe fort complete with watchtower, I don't know. So my wife left work and raced home to let the workers know they need to stop their progress because this is not right. They informed her that they could not take any direction from her and it would need to come from the back office. So after a 2 hour delay they got the authorization they needed and starting building at the shorter height. Now is the part that is most frustrating. I was so excited to come home and see my new fence that I just paid over 2 grand for. Before I even walked onto my patio I could see through my back door that it was slanted. HEAVILY SLANTED. Carpentry 101 is framing everything LEVEL and building off of that. I used my level all along the entire length on the fence and the reading is the same at every point as you can see in the picture - completely lopsided. My level is accurate. Instead of enjoying a new fence I just get frustrated every time I see what an eyesore it is. The comical part of all this? The only part of the fence that's level is the logo that they put on it, which just accentuates how slanted it is. Congrats, you're advertising what a terrible job you did. read more

Avoid this company. I only had a 60 feet fence to be done like the one another company had done a few years ago. First, I had to wait for 8 weeks. When they came, they did not have all the material needed. The crew of 3 was appalling. Quick and dirty. I had to stop the work and call for a supervisor to come to the job. At 2pm, they left saying it was late. I refused to sign so they came back to clean up the site they had left unfinished. Another crew was supposed to come back the day after to finish. 3 days later, no one came, no one called. Avoid this company. read more

Long fence was supposed to arrive at my home between 8a-10a to provide me an estimate. They were supposed to call 45 min prior to give me a heads up. I stayed home from work especially to get this estimate. It's 9:50a and I haven't received a call or email. I called them and explained to them the situation. The woman said the person may be late and may be w another customer. I said that's fine however, they should call me and let me know they were going to be late. She asked me if I wanted the persons number to call and find out how long it would be before they arrived. I told her that it wasn't my job to inquire about the promptness of her employee and that she should call then to find out their location. She ask me if I'm still interested in getting an estimate. I tell her I wouldn't have called if I wasn't interested. Then she hangs up the phone. Poor customer service. I'm glad I see who I was dealing with. I can take my 15k to another business ‍ read more
