I used this company to install a fence with Michael McClee and he was very thorough, but the problem came in when I was going to connect to a fellow neighbor's fence and he refused to do it without consent from the neighbor. A few years later another neighbor gets a fence and he allows them to connect to my fence without approval. In addition, they try to sell you that the fence is covered under warranty but there are about a million restrictions that you will not even qualify for the warranty. I paid $15,000 for a crappie fence that Lowe's or Home Depot could have done a better job and cheaper. This company is a scam and I would not use them. My experience with this company began several years ago, but the impact of their work continues to affect my home today. Although time has passed, the issues were documented at the time they occurred, and I filed a formal complaint with the Maryland Department of Labor. Purchased a very expensive patio from Medallion ($28,000). After a year or so, grass began to grow in the cracks. They sent someone out to look and the service guys told us that when they installed the patio, they used a very low quality sand. They re-sanded with what was supposed to be better quality and a year later there is more grass. Medallion refuses to fix this problem. The balcony door was equal in price and being of equal quality, with Medallion having a more sturdier frame, I believe, also no exposed wood. All frames are wrapped in claddind. But Erlin was straightforward and made the sale pitch short, sweet but informative. I wanted a balcony door that energy star rated for tax write-offs but built sturdy, looks good and installed correctly the first time. Fence installation. I upset enough to give them 1 star. However, the overall project went smoothly and passed inspection. I am a repeat customer with Medallion. They do a really good job on several different areas of home improvement I've needed done. Quality work normally. My fence installation went well, EXCEPT my gate. It has gaps that I think take away from the quality work they actually did installing the fencing. I am really disheartened by the way I have been mishandled by them. However, I consider this a lesson learned and will treat it accordingly for any future work I need done. Again, the overall project went well. looks like we dodged a bullet. I saw that they were doing work at my neighbors house. I called to get an estimate. The gentleman refused to move further with the estimate because I wouldn't schedule with my significant other. I simply wanted a quote to remove a deck and add patio pavers. We are in the very beginning stages of the project and my husband works 2 jobs. It's hard to coordinate a time that works for both of us to be together and it not interfere with the kids activities. Nonetheless he is confident in my ability to hire a contractor and relay any important information. After my burglary, I paid Medallion thousands of dollars to install exterior window bars. Bars began to rust at all joints within several months and since it was still within the warranty window they sent someone out to address the rust. After the one-year warranty ran out, the rusting became really extensive. Medallion told me they'll charge me nearly $1,000 to sand and paint over the pervasive rust. I'm still paying off the expensive installation! My windows are all partially covered by awnings, if the bars were decent quality, they wouldn't be rusting in the first place. Once the work was complete, I had inspected work only to find used and chipped hardware on my fence, gate not aligned, and gaps throughout fence, and hardware is beginning to rust. We asked for an estimate for a front railing. I called on a Monday and left a message with a nice lady. Then received a return call on a Wednesday morning- We set the estimate of for Friday. I received a call from Eric 301-383-5007 asking if they could come earlier than 5pm- unfortunately I couldn't get off work in time and he really seemed annoyed. Eric calls and says "I'm OUTSIDE" I go outside and no one is there. I politely call back and tell him that I think he has the wrong address. I hear him yell at his partner. I give him the address and ask if he wanted me to text him. Get this... the man hangs up. I should have left it at that and moved on to another company, but my neighbors really were happy with their services. I call back and he says "I'm WAITING FOR YOUR TEXT!" I send the text message. They show up. The partner starts measuring and never says a word to my husband or I. Eric tells us it will cost $1000 for a 6ft x 4 ft rail. We inquired about the details of the cost.. and if there was a military discount. He yells "Y'all can call another company this ain't nothing but a little railing"... and he walked away. If I could give them a zero I would have. Stay away it's a waste of money and even worse service. I purchased doors and windows from them in 2012 and of course they were beautiful then. In 2017 I noticed rust and paint peeling. I contacted them and never received a call or anything from then to now in 2020. I been calling and emailing for the last 6 weeks and finally got a return call today to say that in order for my issue to get addressed I would have to come out of pocket with roughly $5000. If my issue had been addressed in 2017 under the warranty we wouldn't be here. I would not spend 2 more cents with them. I will continue to write reviews. read more

The devil is in the details (I wish I could give no stars) We had two different reps come to our home to talk about building a deck on own home. Each one of them had a different offer...both were from Medallion. The last rep basically said don't trust the first rep. So after listening to the sales pitch and deciding on what we wanted, we signed the contracts and waited. They were pretty quick to get things going. Initially the plans were rejected by the HOA due to a space requirement that was not on the blueprints. this was fixed. Then I notice other things missing from the blue prints and they fixed those. We decided that if there was another issue, then we would cancel the whole thing. After a final review things looked in order and the HOA approved. The got the deck and fence up in a few days, and it looks great until you look at the details. The handle on the gate is not what we wanted or were told we'd get, there are gaps under the fence, which we were told would not be an issue because the gates are "routed" so they can adjust to any inclines, there are gaps near the fence posts, and gaps in fence itself. Called the service line a few times, and no one answered or responded to the messages left. Then Greensky, their financing company called us to find out if we were happy. I said no. and that surprised them...don't think they were ready to hear a no. I was put on hold for a while so I could speak with a supervisor. Then I was told a ticket would be opened to have my issues addressed and resolved. This was back in August 2019. I spoke with someone else from Greensky, told them that no one had been in contact with me and they said they would look into it. The contact information they had for me was old, so I gave them a new number to call me on....four times at least so far....they still call the wrong number. No one has been by to look at the fence or anything. If I had it to do all over again, I would not use this company becasue the customer service for both Medallion and Greensky is terrible. They are very responsive until they start to bill you...then they disappear. Find another company....you will be happier in the long run. read more

I purchased two very expensive doors from this company in March of 2018 with the guarantee that if I had a problem of any kind that it would be fixed with no problem all I would have to do is to reach out and let them know what the problem was and it would be handled. We had Medallion install iron fencing around our backyard recently. The sales process was tolerable, but after that things went down hill. This was a very expensive project that should have had the requisite attention from the main office. The surveyor measured our property line incorrectly, which caused quite a bit of confusion and malice with our neighbors. The installers were deceptive about tree removal in order to install the fence. We had to stop the work until the sales team could come out and review the installation project. The sales team made promises about refunds that, to date, have not been honored. I feel that Medallion does not focus on the customer and therefore our customer experience was deplorable. read more

I purchased a patio enclosure from this company several years ago. When the roof started to leak I called to see if they could seal the roof. The salesman came out and he told me that it would cost $4,000 to repair a foam roof (which is what they recommended). The roof could not be replaced without replacing the whole enclosure. I never wanted a foam roof to began with I wanted a shingled roof. They have no way of maintaining their product they just replace everything. I purchased a 6ft cedar fence from them in 11/2015. In less than 1 year due to weather, the elements, my $8000 fence needed repairs so i called Medallion because naturally you would think this should be covered under the warranty. On August 2nd I contacted Medallion via telephone and email reporting the damage of my fence and asking them for an appointment to schedule repairs. I emailed pictures, continuously called, and constantly received nothing but the run around. When i finally did receive a call I was told i had to pay $250 for a damaged post that was not covered.... okay fine. That was in September and still no one called with that appointment and my calls and emails continued until finally i was told in October that "we are super busy but i promise we will have someone to you either the week of 10/24 or the week of 10/31 but we will have someone call you the day before. Well let's fast forward shall we to 11/2 when the Medallion crew appears at my home with no advance call so that i could take off or have someone home to oversee the work. No invoice left, no sign off for the work or number of broads replaced... nothing. So now its 11/3 and i receive a call stating that "my fence was repaired yesterday but they didn't receive payment of the $250 for the post and oh yeah some of the damage of these boards was due to your dog, but we fixed them as a 1 time courtesy.... For the record not only is my dog a house dog. He is a very large dog that would not nibble on boards but eat the entire board but only if smeared down with peanut butter so damage from my dog is definitely not the case especially when he has a kennel that he stays in when outside. Next i emailed Medallion ample professionally taken pictures of every board when i originally emailed my request for a service appointment. This appointment would have provided both Medallion and I with ample opportunity to walk around the fence assess and discuss the damages together. That was never done! Finally my immediate question to him... was how do i pay someone, when 1) No invoice or documentation of the service was left? 2) No written explanation as to what was done, when it was done or any details pertaining to the quantity of boards removed, condition, and placement of this repair. So I asked him how was i expected to give you my credit card information and pay $250 over the phone for something I have no documentation for? His response was simply that he informed me of the cost in advance and I verbally confirmed it. My response since he wanted to attempt to mention the law was easy... Yes you are correct it is called an expressed contract which i am very familiar with being a lawyer. But what I am also very familiar with is business practices and my legal right to request a receipt for products and services obtained from a vendor or business owner. I am also interested in you producing a copy of my fence warranty which details the out of pocket costs associated with repairs under warranty. His response.... "I will have to look into it and call you back". Wonder how long i have to wait this time? No worries, because this will be the 1st and last time that I ever do business with this Medallion again. I wish to advise you of my continued disgust and dissatisfaction with the prices, products and service I received for the purchases of a security door and four security window guards from Medallion.  After numerous unsatisfactory attempts to resolve this matter with Medallion management, this morning's communications I received continued the assault on my intelligence and reinforced the corruptness of your business practices. On May 27, 2021, I ordered a security door and one window guard from Medallion.  I did not get a breakdown on the written contract from Eric of how much each item cost was determined but was told my total would be $3,500. I ordered one more window guard for $500.00 which brought my total owed to $4,000.  It took two months for the door and window guards to be installed.   I was shocked that the door would cost as much as $3,000 but felt more at ease when I was told I would get a 15 year warranty for the door which would be e-mailed to me.  I was also told that I would receive a screen insert for the door.  After many attempts to get the screen insert and 15 year warranty info, this morning, September 16, 2021, I was told that I would not receive a screen insert for the door because that would eliminate the security aspect of the door which makes sense.  I also received via e-mail my ONE-year warranty for the door; NOT a 15-year warranty. I definitely would not have purchased a $3,000 door with a ONE-year warranty.  An Andersen storm door I purchased from Home Depot last year for $500.00 which includes installation cost, has a 5-Year warranty. After the window guards were installed, I wanted my house to have a consistent look on that side of the house and because there are two more windows on that side of the house, I ordered two more window guards for those windows.  This was 2 months after the original order when I paid $500 each for two window guards.  I expected to pay $500 each for the additional guards. This time, I was charged $700 each for two window guards even though the additional windows are the exact same size as one of the first two guards installed.  I have had the additional windows measured to confirm the size of these two windows. My account has already been charged the $1,400 poorly installed window guards.  I have contacted my bank about the shoddy and incomplete installation. The second set of window guards were poorly installed with screws to attach them to the house protruding from the side am of the house.  The first two window guards were attached flush mount to the house; the second set is not.  When "Peter" came to inspect the installation, he sarcastically said, "If the first two guards had been installed incorrectly, you never would have known these two are not installed incorrectly."  WHAT???? To say I am unhappy with Medallion is an understatement.  I had previously purchased three storm/security doors and two window guards almost 30 years ago for a previous home from Medallion.  The cost for that purchase was less than $5,000.  With the exception of one of the doors, everything else is still in good condition after all these years. Gentlemen.  If you are not aware of the unscrupulous and unorthodox practices of your Medallion staff, you should be.  I have now read most of the complaints and reviews from some of your previous customers.  I have added my complaint to your Facebook site and will post it wherever else appropriate.  I also am in the process of filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.  I can only remember one other time in my 77 years feeling as duped by a company as I feel with Medallion.  The other company was Ryan Homes.  I should have listened to those naysayers. They would not answer my calls and when they did they told me that I needed to speak to the salesman. The salesman kept blaming the HOA. The HOA stated that they had just received the paperwork. When I told them that I no longer wanted the deck because its been almost a year they told me I had to pay $2500 to get out the contract. I did not purchase anything from this comapny. I had them come for an estimate on a security door for our basement. The two men that came out wanted to give us a full demonstration. We weren't interested an only wanted the bottom line (prices, and product info). This made them visibly irritated as they wanted to complete their demonstration with their sample security door (that Medallion manufactures) and with a binder of references and pictures. When they told us the price (a whopping 2000$) we immediately were disinterested. We told them we would think about it, and instead of respecting our decision, they kept pressing us to purchase that day. When we told them that the price was a bit high, then they said they could lower the price (this turned us off even more). We did not like the price-haggling at all. The company submitted a permit application to the city that was illegal and simply could not be built. Long story short, I wouldn't recommend due to my dealings with a Medallion sales rep. named Eric, who I found to be rude and deceptive. In the end I did not hire them for the required job. The supervisor whom I spoke with to voice my complaint was attentive but if medallion chooses to keep an individual like Eric as a representation of their company then I cannot in good conscious give them a dime of my hard earned money nor recommend their services. read more

This company did not stand-by the lifetime warranty for our concrete patio with pavers. Repairs need to be made a several pavers have come lose from the concrete to the point that you can pick them up and carry them off. I have been trying to get them to come to our home since July 1st and it is now August 11th and they have not come to take a look at our patio. Please do not use this company; their followup on warranty items is non existent. I will NEVER use them again. read more

Mrs. Jackie I have to copy your review the same thing happened to me. I did not purchase anything from this company. I had them come for an estimate on a security door for our basement. I didn't mind the full demonstration. When they told me the price a whopping $3,500.00. when i add the bars for the window it went up another $1,000.00. I told them I had to sleep on it. We told them we would think about it, and instead of respecting our decision, they kept pressing us to purchase that day. When we told them that the price was a bit high, then they said they could lower the price. Not to mention we told them clearly that we were not going to be making any decisions that day. They replied by telling us the price was only good for that day and would increase by 15% (HUH????).... I called the office this morning and was told that is not there policy (15% increase). it look like they lied to me if someone else was told the same thing. I am getting an estimate on saturday from Master Seal Doors & Windows in Baltimore. they service the DMV area. They left...very visibly angry...with attitude. THis made me extremely uncomfortable. Welcome to 1950! Never even got to the "quote" part. Sales guy wouldn't meet with me unless my husband was present and cancelled the appointment when I said he was out of town. I advised that I was still willing to meet with him because I wanted to get the project started. He told me that he wanted to wait for my husband because if I "bought a dress and just handed my husband a receipt, he wouldn't know anything about the dress." Seriously? If I could rate the company lower I would. However, yelp requires at least one star to post a review. On Thursday, September 29th I was visited by Eric Plater and his associate from Medallion. Eric repeatedly stated that he is a Manager and attempted to assure that the deal is a great benefit at a great price. We finally settled on just encasing the front door to provide security and prevent loss of heating or cooling. For the front door, Eric quoted $3,000 and explained that it was no money down and 6 months no payment. Eric also explained that the $3,000 would be divided into 60 payments at 0 interest for a monthly payment of $50. The deal sounded great so I signed all the paperwork and kept copies for my records. During this process Eric explained that I didn't need a credit check, the loan would be 60 months at no interest, it would cost $50 a month and they didn't need to have my income. After all the paperwork was completed I asked when can they start, Eric replied Monday (10/3) or Tuesday (10/4) next week. On Monday, October 3rd I had to repeatedly call their Forestville office trying to get some information on when the installation was to take place. Eric was too busy all day to take my call and then one of the associates called me and said everything looks good but we need more information. He asked where do I work, how long have I worked there and my income....very similar to a credit check, something I was told was not needed by manager Eric. After they took my information I was told Eric would call me back on Tuesday, October 4th. On Tuesday, October 4th in the morning, just as they said, Eric called me. However, he told me they couldn't honor the deal we agreed on and signed paperwork for. They could only honor a 5 year 0 interest agreement if the amount was over $8,000. If we wanted still do the deal we would have to pay a minimum of $100 per month for 2 years and any amount after that would have an interest on the payments. Throughout the conversation on Thursday, September 29th, Eric continue to ensure us that he was the manager, was very trained, has been doing this for years, and they would honor this 5 years 0 interest deal at the $3,000 we signed papers on. We would think that a manager would know the sales parameters around the products being sold. We ultimately decided to not use this company's services because if they send managers out who don't know the financing behind their product's offer and mislead potential customers how can we expect good service. Eric was a terrible manager not because he was a bad person but there were factors about his sales pitch that he didn't know or misquoted. I have a signed agreement between me and the Medallion company that the company will not honor. I would never recommend this company as the business practices are a bit on the shady to ignorant side. If you do decide to use this company have the representative call into the office, before you waste your time filling out paperwork, to confirm the deal they are offering can be honored. read more

Medallion came out and gave me an estimate too (yesterday). Something about them does not sit well with me. Although I rushed them thru their demonstatration, they still just threw numbers at me and did not show me anyhting with actual prices (catalog). How can I compare prices if you don't give me your individual prices??? Then, the "manager" kept trying to talk me into getting credit w/ the company and kept slamming their competitor. I had my windows and security doors installed by Medallion back in 1999 and since then my house has been secured , I haven't had any problems with my doors , until this year my front security door lock mechanism started acting up and it wasn't locking properly. however i contacted Medallion Security customer service department & Explained to them the situation i was in they were really helpful & understanding. they send out a truck on the same week i had contacted them and replace my front door lock , now my front iron door is back to normal & my family and house is secured again thanks to Medallion Security , im looking forward on getting some more work done with you guys . Great Company to work with. I had a fence and a security door installed by them and the work was done when they said it was going to be done and i'm very pleased with the final results. I also did a lot of shopping around as my budget was super tight and they actually had the best prices as well. read more
