I'm an ABC who flies to NYC/LA whenever the Chinese food cravings become insatiable. The food here does lean more home cooked flavors in my opinion, which I find comforting. They have pan-Chinese dishes, but less Cantonese influence than a lot of other Chinese restaurants I've been to in South Florida. La Zi Ji: I wish this was spicier but I understand they have to cater to the demographic Twice Cooked Pork: rice stealer, authentic Eggplant: Chinese cooked eggplant is the only id eat eggplant because otherwise I find them too bland. A lot of garlic and flavor in this one Also the only restaurant that has century eggs!! I think I saw some classic American Chinese dishes as well, like orange chicken, but that's not where my attention went. Overall, I will be back! read more

We have been to this restaurant off and on for a long while, and recently when we heard good things about it we decided to give it a try, as we have a hard time finding a good authentic Chinese restaurant in the area. Happy to report that this place is legit, and the dishes are very authentic as well as delicious. They specialize in sichuan style dishes, though there are enough offerings that are not spicy, and we can request mild on many of them. The duck in dry pot was juicy and flavorful, and we also had a mix pot which was spicy with tripe, duck blood, squid, spam, cabbage, bean sprout and other stuff in it. The only dish I won't reorder is the salt and pepper tofu. While the flavor was good, the shell was too thick and hard. Service from our waitress was really nice. Glad we don't have to drive miles up north whenever we want good Chinese food. read more

What a hidden gem for great Chinese food in the Tamiami area of Miami known for authentic Sichuan and Cantonese dishes. Omg goodness it was so good. A friend recommended this place and it did not disappoint. The staff was so friendly and also provided recommendations since it was my first time. I ordered to go and the portion was big. I had the shredded chicken in hot oil and a traditional noodle dish that serves broth on the side. When I got home to enjoy it was so good. I can't wait to try other dishes. read more

I chose this place based on its favorable reviews--huge mistake. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken dinner combo (which includes special fried rice, an egg roll, and a drink), and the experience went downhill immediately. When the egg roll arrived, I asked for Chinese hot mustard and was told they don't have it--only prepackaged packets. That alone is disappointing. Authentic Chinese hot mustard is simple to prepare and far superior; these packets tasted processed and unpleasant. Then came the main dish. The sweet and sour chicken was almost entirely breading, with barely any actual chicken inside. What little chicken there was felt like an afterthought. Even worse, the texture was wildly inconsistent--some pieces were soft and soggy, while others were rock hard. One piece was so hard it literally shot off the plate when I tried to cut it. It tasted like some of the pieces had been cooked earlier and refried, which is unacceptable. The "special" fried rice was anything but special--bland, minimal meat, and completely lacking flavor. The most disturbing part of the experience, however, was the complete disregard for basic hygiene. Before bringing my drink, the server was observed carrying dirty dishes, wiping down tables, and even running her hand through her hair. She then delivered my beverage while holding the cup by the rim--the exact spot customers drink from. That is a blatant sanitation violation and a serious health risk. There's no excuse for that. This wasn't just disappointing--it was unacceptable. I will not be returning, and cannot in good conscience recommend. read more

Chinese restaurants in Miami are generally just okay, at best. Long Gong is said to be better than most, and that may be true. But that's not especially a high bar. My own experience at Long Gong is limited to one take out lunch, including an order of Cumin Lamb that was badly burnt and essentially inedible as a result. I tried my best, but just tossed it out after attempting to understand whether the char was intentional ... it couldn't have been. The Twice Cooked Pork was okay but I've had much better. The Hot and Sour Soup was similarly just okay. Sorry, but I'm not willing to return despite other peoples' positive reviews. read more

I really wish I had time to sit down and dine here so that I could've taken nicer photos. Unfortunately I had just gotten off work, so I ordered to-go. The dining room was clean and pleasant, it gave off a cozy vibe. As far as the food goes, I ordered the Spicy Pork Intestines and Spicy Tendon/Beef, which tasted delicious! I ate both myself and actually wished I had ordered more. It was very affordable as well! My favorite part was that the spicy dishes are actually spicy! The man at the front desk was very polite and welcoming. I'm glad to have found an authentic Chinese restaurant here in Miami and will definitely be going back with friends/family! read more

My friend and I decided to try this restaurant for lunch after a visit to the Frost Art Museum. Somehow I remember I'd been there before when I worked at FIU. I think it's more upscale now, lovely table clothes, nice atmosphere. My friend chose the Shrimp in Lobster Sauce. I had a noodle dish, I forget the name. We'd never seen Shrimp in Lobster Sauce like this before, as a soup with rice on the side, enough for two meals. The shrimps were huge, perfectly cooked. Every once in a while I crave Chinese food, I am in search of the best Chinese food in the area. Today I enjoyed many aspects of Long Dong. The service was excellent. The space is in a busy plaza where parking can be challenging. The aesthetics are dated but the restaurant appears clean. I enjoyed the dry tofu with white rice along with a cup of hot tea. The scallion pancakes were tasty. I also ordered two spring rolls but they were very average to me. They offer a limited lunch menu..I took the beef with broccoli and shrimp fried rice home for my family. They enjoyed the dishes. Next time I will get the dinner size. I do plan to return and explore more of their vast menu. read more

This is a quaint little place in a little unassuming mall. But, the menu is super interesting and the food is Good! The veggies are fresh and they have a lot of interesting flavors! I had the Tofu vegetable soup which was large. My husband had the Wonton soup, which he liked. I had the garlic eggplant and he had the Kung Pao Chicken. We also had the vegetable fried rice, which was also Good. Everything was delicious, and I asked for no msg or added sugar and they responsive to that request. We are from New York area, visiting Miami monthly. In my opinion, Long Gong offers, by far, the best authentic Chinese food in South Florida. I came to Long Gong for lunch on a Monday and I only received the American menu. Reading other reviews had mentioned a different menu with more classic Chinese dishes. However, I asked the waiter for a recommendation which were hot and sour soup and spicy Mongolian beef. The soup was excellent. Mongolian beef was good... but not spicy. This place is located in a very small strip mall. Our waitress, Xioa Lin was fantastic. Very patient with us, especially after asking her so many questions. They have two menus, one with American version Chinese food, and the other menu is full of true traditional Chinese dishes. We ordered spring rolls, which were YUMMERS!!! They came fresh out the kitchen and the ginger in them was fire. We later ordered the West Lake Beef Soup. The size is big enough for four. This soup had chunks of beef, which tasted extremely good. Try it with their white pepper powder ;) Lastly, we ordered the Beef Enoki dish (it looked like a stew). This dish is a bit spicy. Comes with a small side of white rice. We ended up unbuckling our pants due to the overload of food. Prices are amazing! Most definitely coming back. Next time I will try another traditional dish. read more
