Whether she's making the rounds as the cart girl or serving drinks at the bar, Sydney goes above and beyond to make every member feel welcome and taken care of. The club is lucky to have her, and we're even luckier to be greeted by her each time we're out on the course!

But that is not why I am willing to drive long distances to play the wonderful game of Golf. It's because I enjoy playing on a golf course that are difficult to get on unless you're a member. And if a family or friend invites to you to play, I never say no. The Vineyards Golf Course is a beautifully designed course that easily blends in with its surroundings. The course has three set of tee boxes which we chose to play the back tees of course. Why??, well because the young men I was playing with can drive ball 300 yards plus and sometimes on the fairway. It sure did not help my game when I attempted to drive the ball the distances they seem capable. I found the Vineyards golf course challenging with its rolling fairways, protected by large meandering sand bunkers, false fronts and hazards. We had a windy day that played in our favor on some holes and others which easily challenged us. The par-3 holes were a variety in length, direction and difficulty. The secondary roughs had fescue grasses and in some cases we were lined up along a corn field farm. Vineyards was much more challenging than I anticipated, but I very much enjoyed the course and would love to play there again before the season ends.

From the moment I got my first views of St. George's Golf and Country Club, it filled me with a…read morestate of heightened golf euphoria, A Golden Age golf gem that is a very sneaky difficult par 70 6400 yards. From the clubhouse, one can see across vast expanses of the golf course. Several hundred trees were removed during a restoration led by architect Gil Hanse, the same man designing the Rio Olympics course. The first three holes play on your golf emotions like a fine wine that needs a bit more time to breathe. You know that in a short period of time, this magnificent bottle will yield a complexity that may be the best you have ever experienced. The only way to know is to savor what you have in front of you, grinning a little inside knowing that something very special is about to be revealed. St. Georges may look short on the card, but don't be fooled. It's a par-70, which means it will play almost 400 yards longer than the distance stated. While none of the holes is unfairly long, the rough is thick and high, the greens speedy and true, and the terrain severely undulating. You not only have to keep the ball in play, you have to control distance as well as accuracy. With the greens well protected by mounds, deep bunkers and internal contour, the adventure doesn't end when you get greenside, but may in fact be only be beginning. Holes #1 through #4 tempted me to take shots I can pull off on flat courses but the risk here at St.Georges are so strategic! that you should easy back off the accelerator and attack the course at very few and far between points. Devereux Emmet made sure of this back in 1916 when he designed the course, with classic bunkering on both the fairways and greens. Rolling your approach shots can be your best route or your worst nightmare. At the driving range as I was warming up for the days round, I was approached by the golf pro Rod Heller and we struck up a conversation. We talked golf plane swings as we both fought a double cross hook for some stints of time. I peered over his shoulder to see my playing partners waiting for me, I had to excuse myself so we could begin the journey of our day out on the course. To be honest, I could have spent all day talking to Russ. What a sweetheart, complete gentleman and so available and willing to assist members with any needs, questions or comments they threw his way.

To be…read morefrank, I've never truly golfed before (unless you count mini golf, ha!) but I had the most perfect afternoon giving it my best shot just this past Saturday. The course here is quite awesome really. Picture an actual 18 hole golf course just much smaller. Each hole ranged from about 60ish-100+ yards. The lawn was beautiful manicured and we even had several deer, rabbit and red robin sightings! As someone who is brand new to golf (I at least own a decent club!), I felt very comfortable at this facility. We only noticed 2 other groups and a single player throughout the course and everyone was patient, polite and friendly. Prices were very reasonable too, at only about $10 a person plus $4 for a pair of club/$1 per ball (if not bringing your own). Just don't forget to pick up your deposit and your ID (they only require one held per group) at the counter on the way out. I'll most definitely be coming back here asap so I can start practicing!

How did I not know about this place? Maybe I should keep it a secret. It's a beautiful course, uncrowded, right off the beach, with some stunning views. Also, as mentioned by many others ... brings LOTS of balls. The woods are filled with weeds, thorns, spikes, and lice. Can't beat the greens fees of $11. That's cheaper than a movie and a lot more fun. Parking is $10 ... it may be worth it to get an $80 parking pass. I plan to play a lot here. Wife loves it too.

The games are fun, the atmosphere is exciting, and it's a nice way to spend a few hours. The food is okay and the drinks are good, but like most places these days, they are expensive. This last visit was a little disappointing. My wife and I took a day off and went in the morning to hit some balls and maybe have brunch. Since you pay by the hour, I didn't like losing time setting up the computer, getting interrupted by an employee trying to sell me a membership while I was about to take a swing, and having pop-up ads appear on the screen while we were playing. I understand the employees are just doing their jobs, but I think memberships should be discussed when checking in, not during time that customers are paying to play. I also noticed the menu had changed and some of the shareable foods I enjoyed in the past were gone, so we just had a drink and went somewhere else for brunch. I'll still come back because I do enjoy Topgolf, but I hope they make some changes so customers can spend more of their paid time actually playing.

The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. We did have some rowdy kids above us, we were on the ground floor 132, and they were throwing down golf balls , then their clubs came flying down right in front of us. We did complain but it didn't stop, then they started throwing Tater Tots and banging their clubs on the floor. Other families next to us complained but no luck. I suggest get the top level and avoid any problems. We did over all have a fun time and can't wait to go back .
