Ok so Ive been here a few times before and its just like any other hardware store. Lots of stuff, very organized, and employees that will help you if you cant find what you need. Today I had an issue with my car, and was unable to get the correct part to fix it in time to get my car home today. I walked over to here and told the employee what I was trying to fix, and how I was planning to do it. I wish I got his name, because he helped me find what I needed, gave me some different options and methods on how to fix my issue, and was overall very helpful. You can imagine that I wasnt in the best mood having to fix my car on the side of the road, but he definately helped make today less terrible. Honestly this is the vibe i get every time I come in here. The employees seem to actually enjoy helping, and seem to enjoy their jobs. They overcharged my kids for paint that was supposed to be affordable for a school project. My daughter specifically asked for the cheapest gallon, but the staff didn't disclose the price until checkout, where it turned out to be $75 per gallon! This feels deceptive and unfair, especially since it's for a high school activity. Disappointing experience all around and shame on Connetquot High School for encouraging the students use this supply store. read more

I used to think this place was the best and if you wander around the store the sheer diversity of products is outstanding. BUT, twice now I have spoken to the guy behind the "Customer Help" desk and have been extremely disappointed in his attitude, willingness to help, arrogance and appearance that his hated his job and didn't want to be there. His face even turned RED as I was asking my question. What is it that differentiates this place from Lowes/Home Depot? It's SERVICE!!!! If there is NO difference why should I go there especially if they have a bad attitude! The miserable guy should stay away from the public. Customer service rep is very knowledgeable and helpful. Recently purchased a chain for a chainsaw here. They had tons of varying merchandise, and specific tool accessories that I could not find elsewhere at hardware stores like Brinkmann. Would recommend to anyone. read more

Went into LI Hardware to get a non-slip rug pad. Showed one salesperson a picture and he said said he knew nothing about them and walked off. So I went to one of the cashiers who shrugged and said maybe they had them in their warehouse. Neiter person expended any effort to help. Actually their tone and attitude was actually rude. Brutally bad customer service. I don't know why the entire staff...including the store manager...is so miserable. But how does taking it out on the customers help? Not to mention they are RIDICULOUSLY over-priced. I don't mind paying a premium to skip a trip to Lowes. However, I don't appreciate getting ripped off for the luxury of being treated like an animal by Long Island Hardware's poorly-trained staff. This is a man's store from start to finish. Bought paint a few hours ago. The last time I bought paint here the gentleman working the counter was knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Today the woman working the counter had an attitude of disdain like how dare I bother her to SELL me paint. My experience is the employees of any company usually reflect the boss/manager/owner. Excellent product selection, especially when it comes to hardware and specialty item. At the back counter, they have " open stock", so that you can purchase exactly the number of the item(s) you need. You don't have to purchase a whole box or bag, when you only need a few. I have been a customer for more than 3 yrs., and it is my "go to" place , when I can't find the item locally. I live 30 miles away, but it is worth the travel time. read more

Not so much the store as the heavyset manage that was there today, Sunday. I purchased Benjamin Moore paint and when I opened it up I found it wasnt mixed properly and the color didnt match what I had. When I returned it I never got an apology, he said if this is your biggest problem in life your doing ok. Maybe so but I was still inconvenienced in a big way, I had to leave my project to return the paint and also redo everything I started that morning. Not having much time it was a very big inconvenience and an apology instead of rudeness would have gone a long way. read more

I purchased 2 sprinkler heads, one of which was defective. When i returned the defective head the manager reluctantly gave me a refund after much debate. Do not go there. He was smug, rude and argumentative. All i wanted was my refund for the $5 sprinkler head. Ive installed about 20 of these heads and this one was definitely defective. He stood there in blew into the head to prove to me it was not defective. Crazy! DO NOT GO THERE. YOU WILL REGRET IT. Shop at Lowes read more

I called into the store last Sunday morning & I was transferred to a gentleman by the name of Scott. Scott was working in the Seasonal Department at the time & I explained to him that I wanted to hang this chart for my daughter that was fairly large but I did not want to damage my walls & I would need a Magnet to be moved around on the chart. Scott told me to bring the chart in & he would look at it for me. I got to the store mid-afternoon & he had a scenario already laid out for me which was so impressive & very much appreciated. He thought of something that myself nor my husband would ever come up with...A true knowledgeable employee that should be recognized for his efforts. This chart by the way is a Behavioral Chart & my daughter has responded to it so well & I have Scott that works in the Seasonal Department from Ace Long Island Hardware to thank for it. We are very impressed with his customer service skills, friendliness & professionalism. We will be loyal customers to this Ace Long Island Hardware Store now because of Scott...He just cares & sometimes that is so hard to find.
