Would not recommend. I dropped off my dethatcher to have some work done. When they called to tell me it was ready, the owner gave me an attitude and said he didn't even know why his technician took it in. He acted like it was somehow my fault and then told me to "get this thing out of here ASAP," which I did not appreciate. When I picked it up the next day, I was charged for an oil change and a spark plug that I never approved. They charged me $25 for a spark plug, even though I had just bought one the day before and planned to install it myself. The repair had nothing to do with the engine, so I don't understand why those services were performed without asking me first. I paid the bill and left because I didn't want to argue. After getting home, I noticed a bolt was completely stripped. I called them, and they told me to bring it back. When I returned, the owner looked at it with me, but then the technician who worked on it came out with an attitude and claimed the bolt was already stripped. I know it wasn't. In my opinion, if a bolt gets stripped during a repair, it should be replaced rather than left that way. What really bothered me is that the repair bill was over $400, yet they couldn't be bothered to replace a simple stripped bolt. They had no problem charging me for services I never asked for, but apparently replacing a damaged bolt was too much to do. At that point, I was done dealing with the situation and started to leave. The technician followed me, yelling and asking what my problem was. I told him I didn't appreciate his attitude, and he continued being argumentative. It was extremely unprofessional. To make matters worse, after I got home the second time, the machine would not start at all. Overall, I had a very poor experience due to the lack of communication, unauthorized charges, poor workmanship, and unprofessional customer service. I would not recommend this shop. read more

I walk In to have a chainsaw serviced and I am greeted with sarcasm. I was treated as if I was a child. I understand that you probably deal with customers who don't understand certain things but please have some decency when dealing with them. We may not all be as knowledgeable as you in your field but never would I treat one of my clients in the way that I was treated. Absolutely poor customer service. Then on top of that, you want to charge me approximately $129-150 in service for a machine that costs just about the same amount new. And your response is "I gotta pay the labor for my workers." Well sir, maybe if your customer service was just a smidge more respectful, you wouldn't bang your customers over the head for labor because you would have more customers. I brought my snowblower in to be repaired this week, and even though we are in the middle of the winter and everybody wants priority with their winter equipment needs, the gentlemen at Northeast took care of my snowblower issue immediately. Disappointed in their refusal to service a popular generator, Predator 4000, because it is sold by Harbor Freight. Yet they had equivalent units in the shop with different labels like Honda, which is the same generator manufacturer ut cost more at retail. So they have snob approach in selecting what they work on. Very disappointed with my recent service experience with Northeast. I've used Northeast in the past and I have never been truly satisfied, but my previous experiences hadn't stopped me from returning. However, my recent experience was poor enough for me to write them off forever and to share my experience here. I dropped my Snowblower off for service with Northeast at the beginning of December with the expectation of having service completed on it in three weeks. I report on my drop off that I need a regular tune-up and that my Augers no longer spin when engaged (ya know, like the most essential part of a Snowblower). The front desk takes my report and information, writes up my ticket, I leave my deposit, and I head out. The end of the year came and went with no contact from them. I reached out the first week of the year and spoke with the owner - received a sob story about how techs had quit on him and how backed up he was. He dropped the point how he had been in business "For over 30 years!" and how he would get it done and call me. Another week goes by. I call back in. "We're still not done. Give me a call in another week." Again, he drops the line of being in business for over 30 years. I agree to call them back. A week later I call "Oh, your Snowblower is ready!" No one had called to tell me (like I had asked), but at this point, whatever. I go to pick it up and pay out the remaining balance. Before I load it in my truck, I ask the lot technician to start it up and start the Augers... just to check before I leave the lot. Snowblower starts right up, but nope, Augers still do not spin. I calmly tell them I can't accept this, and that they need fix it. They agree to take it back and fix the Auger drive. They state that they will take care of dropping it off at my house, and that they'll have this done very quickly. Three days come and go with a threat of a storm approaching that weekend. I call... again... for a status update. "Oh you're done! We have been trying to reach you, but the number on your service ticket is wrong!" I ask them what number they have been calling and they then proceed to read me a phone number I don't recognize. I tell them that's not my number, and they state "Well that's the one you wrote in he ticket!" I tell them that I didn't write my number in the ticket... their counter clerk did after they asked me for it, and that obviously they wrote my number down on somebody else's ticket, with someone else's number on mine. They respond with "Well anyway, fixing the Auger drive will be another 90 bucks in parts." I begin to argue, and receive the comment from the owner ...again, that "We've been in business for over 30 years!" At this point I just want my Slowblower. I agree to pay the money, and ask them to drop off my Snowblower at my address while I'm at work. They do, and yes, the Auger drive finally operates. However, I shouldn't have had to jump through 50 flaming hoops for this. This is a very simple service request for this time of year for a small engine repair shop. And I don't need to hear "We've been in business for over 30 years!" as the default deflection and dismissal response from the owner when I criticize my sub par experience with Northeast Equipment. Good for them that they've been in business this long, and hey, maybe they'll be here for another 30. But I'm done being a customer, and I'll have nothing to do with that. read more

Excellent service! So I purchased a use chainsaw from another company. Had issues with the chain not turning properly. John found the problem, corrected it and then gave me a lesson in how to properly use a chainsaw from start to finish. I haven't experienced many businesses that take the time to explain in detail the way that Northeast did. I'll be back when I'm shopping for my next edition to my outdoor equipment. read more

This is a fantastic family owned business where I buy all my equipment they are extremely knowledgeable and do not hesitate to educate you on the equipment that they sell you. I purchased a snowblower there two years ago and had a problem when I hit a newspaper that was left on my driveway after a very large snowstorm I was halfway done with my driveway and due to some medical reasons I knew I would not be able to shovel the rest. I explained my dilemma to Joey that picked up the snowblower repaired the problem and had it back to me the very same day at a very reasonable cost since that time we've had four serious snow falls and the machine has been working fantastic thank you so much Joey and the knowledgeable mechanics there for digging me out of a major problem read more

I brought my Honda snowblower to a Honda dealer for a estimate . This Snowblower was there for three weeks, estimated repair 1,150.00. I received a 2nd estimate from Northeast equipment in Hauppauge two days after dropping the machine, for $150.00. This snowblower was returned in 2 weeks. I was so pleased with the service we received and the quality of work, I returned to purchased 4 Toro snowblowers for additional workers at the company. Now we have a established account as more equipment will be purchased. read more

Had my old lawnmower tuned up at Northeast Equipment. They originally said approximately 1 1/2 weeks until tune up was complete. It did take almost 3 weeks until they finished, however, they did offer me a loaner unit to use. Very nice people, and my lawnmower, which I had neglected for several years, is now running better than ever! read more

I am so grateful for these guys! It has been a really snowy winter on Long Island and I blew a worm gear on the auger of my old snapper snow blower. I called a lot of places and no one had it and spoke of a week to get it. With more snow coming I needed it fast. Spoke to Jim, he was friendly and appropriate, didn't have the part but mentioned that he was putting in a Snapper order and could have it in the day after next!
