Got there shortly after noon and was told they were out of half the items we ordered and other items like onion rings and ice tea, were not on their menu despite being available when choosing their location and ordering online. Dinning room tables and floors are dirty, nobody came out while we dined to do any cleaning. If we had not ordered items that were on sale today, we would have been disappointed in the portion sizes... overpriced! 2 of the 3 trash cans were blocked off by management and the remaining can was overflowing. Wheatgrass shot that it could not be made because the machine had already been cleaned and shut down. The girl in a purple shirt tried to blame it on another employee she said was new. I placed my order at 6:45 PM EST. The store hours have closing time at 9:00 PM EST. Another customer ordered a 2 oz. Wheatgrass shot right after I did. Purple shirt did not give him a hard time. I would not have either. He was a muscular looking man. Purple shirt plopped my order on the counter and walked away. This was another bad customer experience at this store. The 5 star review is only on food quality and service(corner of 306 and Mentor ave....Never thought I would say this about LJS, but they have made much needed improvements in some of their menu items. The portions of fish were noticeably larger than on previous visits and the chicken planks have really improved. If you haven't been there for a while, it will be worth checking out. When most places are raising prices and lowering quality, LJS has move in a different direction. Hope this trend continues. Service 4....Elena was my server and she was great...but this can vary a lot depending on who is behind the counter. I've never had an issue here but tonight was disappointing. The wait time for the food was awful. The fish was mainly breading. The girl at the register did not appear happy or that she wanted to be there by here actions and tone. She also complained about the call off. The other girl getting the food from the window was highly rude to the staff in the back. She would say things like "see that chicken. Take that. Now throw it out. Get me a new piece" to almost every order. Then she accidentally dropped a to go cole slaw on the ground and yelled to the back "get me a new slaw." Then paused and said Please and thank you. Instead of CAN I get a new slaw. The floor was very slippery. While I waited for my food. I heard an elderly woman tell the girl that brought her her food that she almost fell because it was so slippery. It fell on deaf ears. I've eaten at Long John Silver's a few times over the years. I am amazed that this place stays in business! On my most recent visit to try a fish taco, I was the only person in the place! When I walked in, the crew was sitting in the restaurant drinking soda and chatting. When they saw me, they scurried back to their respective battle stations. I ordered two fish tacos and it took a bit for them to make them. The fish tacos were okay for a buck each, but nothing to write home about. Then why the hell am I writing, you ask? To impress upon you to not visit Long John Silvers unless they a) build a new corporate image b) offer decent food for a change! c) clean up their restaurants. While I was waiting for what seemed to be an enormous order, I gazed about the dingy establishment. What a dump. It is clear that this company is hanging on by a thread. Why don't they just throw in the towel already? ...and I don't mean in the deep fryer. I realize Long John Silver's has opened a few new locations, however, if you're attempting to revitalize your company, you must revitalize all your locations, not just one or two. I have never had a bad experience with the food in particular but the inside of this place is very dirty which is why I always take my food to go. The food was disgusting, everything was cold, my fries tasted horrible, like they were found under a kid's car seat after a month of not cleaning the car. My fish had a taste that was indescribable. Other last minute fried fish pick-ups at the usual Big Name Fast Food suspects, always seemed to disappoint. This one likely would, too, but it was right THERE...on my way HOME...so at the last moment I pulled in. The Stars, the Planets, and my SUV, were indeed, fortuitously aligned. ~ EXCELLENT lightly-battered fried moist Cod (or might have been Pollock or other mild whitefish) ~ EXCELLENT hushpuppies. Never thought I'd ever write THOSE two words together. Ultimate oxymoron. The few I've had over the years were all positively nasty dry floury balls of horrid. Until now. ~ Fries and Tartar also far better than most others serving same. ~ One of the nicest ever employees. So naturally comfortably friendly with me.
