Not sure why a Steak & Shake not have 4-5 stars always. The steak burgers are now grass fed and grass finished. They converted on June 1st, they have had French fries made with beef tallow as well. I ordered an eighty dollar order (including tip). They gave the wrong order to the delivery service. It was only one burger and a fry (Not close to eighty dollars worth of food). The driver took the order with him. I called the store and they said I had to go through Uber to get my money back. Although they received their money and they made the mistake. So now I'm waiting to see if anybody does anything about refunding me. I asked the Steak and Shake manager (who would not give me their name) for a corporate number and of course he did not know it. Very clean restaurant and easy to order at the kiosk. Food came out quickly and was pretty good. I've never had anything besides the Frisco Melt because it's delicious. What happened to actual service at restaurants? Everything is online now, there are no waiters or waitresses, and all staff were just in the back. Since there were no cleaning staff, all tables were dirty and crumbs everywhere. I guess they got the 80's aspect, because the crumbs looked like they could be from older than the 80's. They messed up me and my kids orders, though the messed up part was not too bad, they just added onions after we did not want them. Food was okay though. Also, fix the soft drink machines. Today is Halloween and all kids under 12 get a free shake if you wear your costume. So of course. Why not. My son and I went. The inside seating is walled off. But they did it in a very classy way. The manager in duty wash very friendly. I ordered the chocolate peanut butter shake. And he got the standard chocolate shake. Both tasted exceptional. Food is consistently greasy but their customer service just keeps degrading. They lady on the intercom kept giving me an attitude because she couldn't hear me. I don't have a soft spoken voice and I'm pretty loud when I talk, so to hear me yelling so the cars behind me could hear my order was annoying. This location is hidden behind Giant Eagle so not many people would see it unless they are from the area. I've noticed that every time I come to this location, I get an attitude from the person taking my order which reminds me why I don't always come here. I don't even know why they even call themselves fast food when it truly isn't fast and there's always a wait. Out of the 10 times Ives been here, the only thing they have ever made correctly and perfect was my specialty milkshake. My burgers always come out squished and super greasy that it goes through the bag leaving a grease stain on whatever I put my bag on. If you ask for extra sauce, it seems like they always give you less because you asked for it. I'm not definitely sure if it was the things I ordered (a bacon cheeseburger with a side of cheese fries & soft drink), if it was just this locations lackluster, most decent, bland food, or if it was just my mood at the time. Having just left Ohio to head back home to New York, I honestly wish I could go back and this is one of the reasons why. I went here because having grown up in NYC, I never saw one of these before in my life, but had heard of them. I went in not expecting much, and I was surprised! Coming here and comparing it to Shake Shack back in NYC, I feel as through I've been robbed. I'm not sure I can ever walk into Shake Shack again without thinking of Steak N' Shake, and missing it a little. In NY, you have to wait on a line, pay way more then, get half of what you'd get at Steak N' Shake and you're lucky if you get a seat. Don't get me wrong, I love Shake Shack, but to get what I got at Steak N' Shake there would cost me $16.25, it would still be half the size, and wouldn't taste nearly as good as Steak N' Shake. Meanwhile at Steak N' Shake for better quality, a huge delicious meaty double cheese burger with fries and a huge (OMG ITS SO GOOD) mint shake is less then half the price. We usually like the food and the shakes, we usually go to the other location in Elyria, but they have not been open for dine-in, so we tried this one. Unfortunately they changed a lot of things since the pandemic, no more waitresses, self ordering on a computer screen ONLY, no cash at all, payment with credit or gift cards ONLY. In addition to that this location is at the end of a chopping area way back where everything else is empty, vacant or closed. Kind of in a dark abandoned corner, and I am certain that location hurts the business big time. The place was almost empty at dinner time at around 6 pm on a weekday. I am not too wild about the thin fries, and unfortunately the buns were old, at least from the day before. Otherwise I liked my Western BBQ burger. I would have loved to order a milk shake, but I used a gift card and I would have been about $1,19 over the balance on that card, and I certainly do not swipe a credit card for that small amount. I've been to few different locations and this one in Parma, at least for myself and the wife seems to be the best out of all of them. We get seated within a timely manner order is taken quickly, shakes are brought before the meal. The staff just seems more friendly then any other locale, I've been too, but that's based on opinion. While we always enjoy the food, the check-in is the worst around. We have walked out in the past because we have stood in the lobby for over ten minutes without even a "hello." Before I write a review on this place, I want to point out that there is no way in Hades that this location is on Ridge Rd. I've been here many times and it is actually on a little road that winds around behind the Target and sits fairly close to the Giant Eagle on Day. How exactly this place has an address on Ridge is beyond me but I'm pretty certain I'm not on the happy gas today.... and no, there isn't another one that I'm not aware of. Anyways.... Steak N Shake is one of those places that you'll likely get stuck visiting if you have young children. I made the mistake of taking my son on a date here long ago and that has translated into it becoming his "favorite restaurant" and hence one that I am obligate to take all of my begging children to whenever we go out on dates. I don't particularly dislike S&S but can't come even close to claiming the food here is great. They do exactly one half of their name right - the shake. They make a fantastic milkshake in a million different varieties. The 'steak' part of the name is another story. There are no actual steaks here (apparently burgers and steak is the same thing to someone) but rather very small, cheap burgers. None of them are especially tasty either. Basically I go here because I love my children. And actually, I quite enjoy it when I'm there.... only because they love it A LOT. That's good enough for me. There is nothing that will bring you more joy than seeing the smile on the face of your little squirt while he wears a S&S hat and puts together one of their free paper cars. Just had a late snack there with my grand daughter. It was 9:30 at night but the place was really busy. We got seated right away in a booth and the friendly waiter took our drink order within minutes, brought them and took our food order. Shakes are amazing! A must have.
