Lads, this gaff absolutely slaps…read more Not jokin'--we're talkin' top-tier stuff here. Picture it: miserable Saturday, wind goin' sideways, whole day lookin' like it needs a good talkin' to. Me and the missus gets blown into this pub like two gobshites lookin' a shelter and a feed. And ... what a shout! I ordered the corned beef and cabbage, and I swear on me Ma's good china, it was filthy good. Fork went through it like it owed me money. Juicy, melty, little ribbons of fat runnin' through it like it was showin' off. The cabbage? Deadly. The mash? Lads... the mash tasted like an angel got notions and said "ah go on, I'll make this one myself." Bit of garlic, bit of peel, bit of magic. I nearly cried. We're not from Johnson City, so it might be a hot minute before we're back, but believe me--if I'm anywhere within sniffin' distance of this town again, I'll be leggin' it back to this place like a man late for mass. Ciaran, our server, was sound as a pound--quick, chatty, callin' us "friends" like he was adoptin' us. Man deserves a raise and a parade. The place is set up for tunes later on, loads of seats, loos clean enough to perform surgery in--madness. Prices? Couldn't argue with 'em even if I wanted to. The missus got fish and chips for eighteen quid, mine was twenty-one. Soft drinks only two quid, and a rake of beers and cocktails if you're feelin' spicy. Absolutely recommend this spot to slake the thirst and sate the hunger--ah now, that's the kind of night that'd put manners on ya.

An authentic British pub that definitely feels like a go-to spot for a lot of the locals. You'll…read moreavoid a lot of the tourist traffic here with its unique vibe, and you'll come away with a memory of "that cute British pub" when it's all over. NOTES: -This place is run on bare bones staff. I'd guess maybe two cooks and the single server. It is not a place to come if you need quick service or quick food. They're very friendly (even if you're not a local!), but definitely come when you have a lot of extra time. -This place is not accessible in the slightest. You'll need to go up two flights of very steep stairs to make it to the front door. The stairs are on the old side, and I was concerned about one breaking. There is no elevator. -The parking lot is relatively small and shared with a nearby Urgent Care. It's gravel and grass, and people mostly made their "own" spot where they wanted. As this made for a haphazard parking lot with small margins for cars, I wouldn't let a newer driver park here. PROS: -Lots of unique British dishes. We've never seen somewhere serving Bubbles and Squeak and lots of other dishes. If you're not familiar with niche British dishes, you'll probably have to pull out your cell phone to figure out what some of this stuff is - and that's really fun. -Food is really good. It tastes like food-your-mom-would-make instead of gourmet takes on these dishes. It has a really authentic, small business vibe to it. -Unique beers on tap too. You aren't going to find Bud Light or Miller Lite on tap here. All of their beers are unique pub fare. They do offer some of the American favorites in a can/bottle, but this is a great excuse to try beers you wouldn't normally have access too. -Despite the older age of the building, the bathrooms are very modern and very clean. Most gas station bathrooms are in worse shape than the ones here. CONS: -It's definitely a small, "small margins" business, and all of the cons that go along with that. Food took awhile, upcharge for using a credit card, non-focal dishes may have been frozen/reheated/canned, and parking was difficult. That all being said, we're looking to come back again, and the atmosphere (and the taste of their unique star dishes) make it one of those places you'll actually talk about when you're done with your trip instead of forgetting that morning you simply went to Denny's to scarf down pancakes.

Good choices. Limited food but for tourist area very nice vibe…read more Drinks high though and no specials I believe it will be better

Cozy Scottish pub. Tasty food, good brew & whisky selection. Live music! Soccer!…read more On a recent roadtrip, we tried out Boyd's Jig & Reel in Knoxville. At midday on a weekday (spring-2026), this warm-feeling comfortable pub was active but not crowded. Of course we had beer-battered fish & chips: tender sweet cod in a not-too-thick crunchy flavorful coating, with fresh greens, onions, and tomatoes. Served with piping-hot thin fries, hand-cut to give a variety of crispier vs. soft bites. You could get that as a small-plate, as a Po'Boy sandwich, or as a main. And we had a bowl of thick rich flavorful creamy chowder. Delicious, satisfying dishes. They had a nice selection of deep crusty savory pies, too. We loved their amazing range of single-malt whiskeys, including some like a smokey softly-fruity Port Askaig that we haven't seen elsewhere. We liked slowly sipping a strongly-peaty young Islay, like 10-year Laphroaig, and Boyd's also had plenty of smoother well-aged pours up and down the price-range. They also had a nice selection of crafts, ales, stouts, ciders, and several Scottish brews. We saw that they have live music almost every evening (not Mondays), with midday music Sat and Sun. Scottish, Irish, bluegrass, old-time, classic country, and more! Next time we have to fit that into our schedule. And fútball (soccer) of course! Boyd's Jig & Reel is a must-visit in the middle of Knoxville!

Whether it's coffee, a pastry, some bottled drinks, or food, everything here is good quality. Of course, we were paying casino prices, but that is expected. No complaints about the food or drinks. What kind of food court opens most of the restaurants at 4:00 p.m. like this place? Crazy. We decided to keep wandering around the casino and hotel complex and see what else was available but before we left we stopped at the pub in the food court and ordered a couple of drinks. We had one gin and tonic and one old fashioned for a total of $43 not including the tip. On Saturday for dinner we returned and that was a serious mistake. The crowds were insane. Several people mentioned that they had never seen it this crowded but it was because of Larry the Cable Guy being there that evening for a performance. All ordering is done on a set of self-service kiosks that are in the middle of the food court. That was confusing because everyone had to learn from other people that this is the way you order food. It was especially difficult for some of the more senior citizens and whoever thought about putting this in a casino really needs to be replaced. So after you order at the kiosk you then have to listen for your name to be called at the places you ordered. I ordered from the sushi place and from the burger place so I had to stand between them and wait for my name to be called at one and then the other. It's definitely not user friendly if you're ordering multiple meals from multiple stations. The small few pieces of coconut shrimp with fried rice cost $27. It was worth about 7. My hot dog was $13.95 plus a dollar to upgrade to sweet potato fries. It was a regular hot dog. Each of our small fountain drinks was $3. The drink dispensers were only dispensing foam. Take a look at my photo to see. Grand total of $49. The Chinese dish was ready in 10 minutes but the hot dog took 25 minutes. We would not return here unless everything was open and there were no crowds. Git 'er done!

We got the deviled eggs, southwestern Benedict, green tomato Benedict, and the breakfast burrito. Everything was great. I didn't have anything to drink other than water, which seems silly at a place that has beer in the title, but check out the brunch. The servers were mostly younger folks, but really attentive and professional. The vibe is clean and casual. A spot that the local college kids dig, which I wasn't mad about. I'm a kid at heart. My buddy got the ice cream cookie thing and the banana pudding taster. The ice cream cookie will make me quickly turn into the Michelin man, but damn it was good.

The food was delicious and the service top notch. I arrived earlier than the rest of my party, but they seated me right away, and my server was so friendly. I never felt like I was inconveniencing them for being early. It was a nice start to the meal. During the early autumn they have an Oktoberfest menu and I ordered the Bavarian soft pretzels. They were soft, warm, and had the perfect amount of surface salt to complement the mustard that came with them. They were also served with beer cheese, and others at the table loved that. For lunch I had a veggie burger and I would say it's in the running for best veggie burger in Knoxville. It was THAT good. To keep it fully vegan order it without the chipotle mayo that comes with it, otherwise it is a vegetarian friendly delicious burger! Others at the table had burgers, fish tacos, and chicken quesadillas and all seemed happy with their food. It's a super casual space with cement floors, and I think they sometimes have live music. The parking lot is tiny, but there is overflow parking in a lot on the hill above the restaurant. I'd say it's worth the potential parking challenge to enjoy this spot!
