We bought a BRAND NEW 2026 Ford Expedition in May. Since then, we've had four separate check engine lights -- two occurrences of one issue, two of another. On a vehicle that's months old. This isn't normal wear and tear, this is a pattern. Twice, this happened while we were traveling long distance with our 3-year-old and 3-month-old, forcing us to get the vehicle repaired out of state. If you've never had to scramble for emergency car repairs hundreds of miles from home with two small kids, count yourself lucky -- because Ford's support made it worse, not better. We were told to rent a car and that Ford would reimburse us. Since we were out of state, the dealership couldn't provide a loaner, so we rented on our own, exactly as instructed. We spoke to TWO separate Ford Customer Care agents about this rental -- and neither one mentioned that it had to be a Ford. Over 4th of July weekend, with rental inventory wiped out, we were given a Jeep because that's what was available. Ford's response? Denied our $1,000 reimbursement because it "wasn't a Ford." A requirement two agents somehow forgot to mention. Twice. Then came check engine light #4. The Expedition sat at Long-Lewis for eight days. We were told the sensor was replaced and the issue resolved. Their idea of confirming that? A technician drove it 10 miles. The exact same code fired again during that drive -- it just didn't trigger the dashboard light that time. Their solution: hand us the keys and send us on our way. That same code is still showing up right now. A brand-new vehicle should not come with a revolving door of check engine lights, and Ford Customer Care should not be denying legitimate claims based on rules they never bother to explain. We did everything we were told to do and got stuck with the bill and a car that's still broken. I came to the dealership to look at a particular car that had just been traded in. I was assigned salesman Rob Hurt, and he was incredibly helpful and patient as I explored not only that vehicle but several others on the lot. Before leaving that first visit, I test drove a vehicle that I really liked. Rob explained that I could place a $300 refundable deposit to hold the car while I finalized the insurance and financing details related to my totaled vehicle. Since the deposit was refundable, there was no risk, so I decided to put it down before leaving. Over the next several days, I made a few visits to the dealership to make sure it was truly the right vehicle for me. I even brought my son back so he could test drive it and give it another look. Rob was very patient and accommodating through the entire process. There was one visit where I became quite frustrated and was honestly tempted to walk out. I was simply trying to keep the car on hold and needed to leave so I could get my son home to study for an exam. However, either Mr. Hurt or his manager, Shomari, kept attempting to run my credit and finance the vehicle through their system even after I explained that I would be securing financing through my credit union. That part of the experience felt unnecessarily pressured, and I did express my frustration to Rob. One interesting feature of the process was their high tech system where you go into a private room and complete a virtual meeting to review warranty options and sign paperwork electronically. That was actually a pretty neat and modern experience. During the process, I received an email from Service Director Mr. Bowlin asking how everything was going. I replied honestly and explained the frustration from my most recent visit, but unfortunately I never received a response. I was eventually able to finalize the deal and complete the purchase. Rob was wonderful throughout the entire process, and I truly do not believe he was the one pushing to run my financing through their banks. That was simply the impression I got. Within a week of purchasing the vehicle, the car alerted me that it needed an oil change. I reached out to Rob to ask if the dealership might take care of that in good faith since I had just purchased the vehicle. He checked with the service department and told me they could perform the service, but that I would be charged for it. Personally, I feel that a large, reputable dealership should at minimum ensure the oil is fresh before selling a used vehicle. Shortly after that, Mr. Bowlin emailed again asking what they could have done differently to earn a five star review. I responded and shared the same concerns mentioned here. Unfortunately, I never received a reply to that email either. Overall, the experience was a positive one, largely thanks to Rob's patience and professionalism. A side note worth mentioning (in my opinion) is there are positive affirmations in the restrooms and Christian music playing in the building. My only disappointment was the lack of follow up when I shared concerns and gave the dealership an opportunity to address them. For that reason, I'm leaving four stars instead of five. read more

After several repeated trips to service they seem to have solved problems with my Navigator, however after multiple trips with the Aviator, upon initial startup we still get multiple warnings about several systems that are "not available", ie Hill climb assist, among others. The last service trip LLF told us this was fixed, obviously this was not true. Not the first time LLF released this car still dysfunctional. LLF has a lot of nice people but I have come to believe they don't hire the best technicians. read more

I had my oil changed by a local mechanic. The car seemed a little under powered when I picked it up but not enough to cause me to question it. The car got me about 10 miles towards my house but then became unresponsive to the accelerator, I had to have the car towed to Long Lewis. They got on it right away and determined that too much oil had been put into the car. They drained the car of oil and then added new oil. The car has performed fine since then. I was very satisfied with the service I received at Long Lewis. read more

So unfortunate. I bought a used vehicle from these folks, and the salesperson and manager were great. When they didn't have the second key, I waited about a month, and they sent it as promised. Turns out the key is not programmed for my Jeep, and the problems with their service and reception personnel are enough to make anyone go elsewhere. I cannot get a return call, and they intentionally route my calls to voicemail. Rather than speak to me, today's receptionist simply hits the button to dump my call. I have also been disconnected twice waiting for the sales manager. I have been leaving messages for over a month, and it is obvious to me that this dealership is not nearly as professional as I once hoped. Worst of all are the snippy and unprofessional reception personnel. Thankfully, I have not had any serious problems with my vehicle; I can only imagine what it would be like to try to deal with these people then. read more

I purchased a 2024 Lincoln Corsair in May of last year. It has been in the shop 5 times since February 3rd and is still in the shop now. They have replaced the fuel injector, wiring harness, belt tensioner and have ordered head to replace. My vehicle had 54 miles when purchased and is less than a year old. There's no way a new vehicle should need this much work. Lincoln is refusing to do a buy back. I am beyond MAD! They should be ashame. If I could give them a zero, I would. read more

Was told Friday at 3 pm my issue could not be fixed at a Firestone and that I should call the Ford dealership. Called immediately and was put on the schedule for 8 am Monday. Everyone I worked with was really nice and helpful when I got there. Was shuttled to my place of work about 20 minutes away by a sweet man who drives their shuttle, but I did have my own transportation back to the dealership later that day. I was called and given the run down about what all was going on and what my estimate was going to be before anything was done without my consent. Not sure if it was a stroke of luck or what, but my total was a lot less than they quoted me for initially (after the diagnostic) and it was able to get repaired same day with the help of one of the neighboring dealerships having the part my car needed vs. them having to order it for me to be shipped. All in all, I was really happy with my experience today! Seemed like they were doing a lot of business. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. This is the worst dealership. The service department is completely non responsive. I dropped my car off Wednesday 7/16/25 for check engine light and oil change. I was told nothing can be done without a second key and they would call me back. They never called back so I tried calling them with no response. They called me back and said you need a second key. So I had to order that for $785 and was told it would take a couple of days. On Friday 7/18/25, I was told by my service contact Sam that the key had not come in yet and I would get a call early next week. No call Monday and I tried calling Tuesday but could not get in contact with Sam. I had to go to the dealership to get in contact with somebody. So Tuesday 7/22/25 they tell me the key is on back order. Nobody would call and tell me that. I had to physically go to the dealership. I got contact information for the service manager and he told me to contact him to check on the key. So 7/23/25 I asked about status and he said we don't when we will get this key. You can drive your car if you like, the only thing that might happen is your car won't start because it loses connection with the key. It is a special order item so we can only get it from this one vendor and not find it anywhere else. So I opted to sell the vehicle to Ford. So I would never have to deal with them again. I go to clean everything out of my car and they lost the one key for the vehicle. But they just leave the cars unlocked so thankfully i was able to get my stuff out of the vehicle. I signed over my vehicle to be purchased on 7/23/25. The pay off amount was valid through 8/2/25. Well Ford did not proceed with pay off until 8/2/25. CarMax did not receive the pay off until 8/4/25. Ford would not issue a check without title in hand. So I am still waiting for the money they owe me to be paid. The sales people will not respond to you unless you are interested in purchasing a vehicle from them. I had to reach out to CarMax to confirm a pay off had been made. I had to reach out to confirm title had been transferred. Ford would not respond after telling me things would only take a couple of days and you will be able to pick up the check. I found out they had the title by searching the VIN number and seeing it for sale on their website. If your sales person takes time off nothing will get done. They will pass you around and never respond to you. They will tell you things will get taken care of but then never confirm that things were actually taken care of. This dealership only cares about money and not service. The customer does not matter. There are not enough words to describe the pain of the experience with Long-Lewis Ford. I will never buy another Ford ever again. read more

Got parts through a different company from this location. Make sure to check your parts before leaving if you pick them up or get tech to check merchandise for manufacture damage. Long Lewis did right by discounting my parts because they would have to order more but I was ready to have my parts that day!, So I wouldn't have to take another day to get my Truck taken care of. In this instance I couldn't get scheduled for my normal oil change so since they were bought out by Long Lewis, I figured I would try the Hoover location as I was about to head out of town for a trip. Well not only did they charge me double for the oil change vs the Alabaster location. They left oily hand prints all over my door and steering wheel. This is one really odd dealership. Despite the outside looking like a Ford dealership, the inside is anything but welcoming. It's a maze of barren, grey walls. They lead you to a gymnasium sized space with countless rows of cheap and empty desks. The person assigned to assist us had been working there for a week and was given a desk in the back corner. While there for basic information, we were held until a manager could "greet us". Imagine AmWay, an evening at the Branch Dividian compound and the awkwardness of freshmen orientation all wrapped into one, giant, grey, undecorated building. Do you have a favorite restaurant that you can count on to produce your favorite meal with reliable consistency? Then one day you make a visit and it was not that good. Maybe that day there was a new chef, or maybe the ingredients were not as fresh for the chef to work with. Who knows exactly why it was "off". I recently had an interaction with the Service Department at Long Lewis that left me questioning whether I would continue to do business with them. I was really upset. This review isn't about food but I think the analogy fits. About a week later I was contacted by the service manager who had found out about it and wanted to make it right. And then he did. It was made apparent to me that he and the dealership are respectful of their customers and want to keep their customers as well as gain new ones. This was unexpected and I am appreciative that it happened for me. I would say if you've had a bad experience or are concerned about your situation, then talk to one of the managers and give them the opportunity to hear you out. Service team member said he would call me with estimate of labor charges on accessories being put on truck. He did not. Charges were over $500.00 dollars for parts and labor. 95% being labor. Asked for a pickup 1.4 miles away to get my vehicle. Service team member said they did not do pickups. Charged me for oil change even though I had bought the Ford service plan that included that. (This was first oil change for new truck) Cashier said he probably didn't put in vin number. Why would they not register truck with vin number before during service? Only one star due to n And truck wasn't washed. And inside of truck smelled like oil and had shop smell. So I'm very disappointed and could not recommend buying or getting any vehicle serviced there. Moved to Birmingham from another state and brought my 4 Fords with me. Took my F350 in and was told that Long Lewis doesn't honor any extended warranty contracts that are not directly through Ford. It was "recommended" I pay cash and then seek to be reimbursed by the warranty company. I have never in all my years even heard of this before, my dealership at home was happy to handle my commercial extended warranties and they probably got tens of thousands of dollars in business from them. I have owned Fords for 20+ years and have 250K+ worth of Fords in my driveway right now that apparently Long Lewis has no desire to take care of for me. I will now have to find another dealership that desires to have my business. That will also mean when I replace my Super Duty's and my Expedition I will be spending those monies elsewhere as well. I really like the staff - truly very sad that this dealership is treating Ford customers this way. read more

Today is 10-25-17. The girl gave me an appointment for 11-22-17!!! A month! And don't think she even thought about thanksgiving right there...she said. While visiting from Atlanta for a volleyball tournament, a tree fell on our Expedition, smashing the windshield, sunroof and damaging the hood, roof and passenger side. We took our car to Long Lewis, as they were a select body shop for our insurance carrier and we felt that a Ford dealer would do the best job. We were wrong. They estimated that they would need 4-6 weeks to perform the repairs. After 9 weeks, I called and explained that I needed the car back. They told me that it was ready on Thursday of that week. I cashed in 36000 Delta miles to fly there, paid for an Uber (over $50) and when I arrived at the dealership, the car was not ready, among other items, the rear window was not attached and I couldn't drive it home. I was extremely unhappy and told them that I was not coming back to retrieve the car. I asked for a loaner, which they provided, and I drove home. There were apologies but no offer to accommodate my cost, not to mention my time. The following week, Long Lewis contacted me and let me know that they would deliver the car that Saturday, and they did so. Much to our disappointment, there are multiple items that are incorrect with the car including, interior lights don't work, water leaking in the driver window, rain sensing wipers don't work, paint overspray on the inside passenger front window and more. This is after they had the car for 10 weeks and over $20,000 in repairs. Absolutely unacceptable. Our next step is to take it to our local Ford dealer so that they can clean up the mess that Long Lewis made with our car. More to come. read more

In the past I've had some really horrible car buying experiences, so I come prepared to bargain, argue, fight and negotiate; I know the vehicles, invoice and price I am willing to pay. This was the easiest experience I have ever had. They found rebates and discounts that were available which put me right at the price I wanted. They were able to get a low finance rate which got my payment about $40 a month less than my maximum payment. My salesman was Hector Barrero and he is just an awesome guy. It was a very relaxed non-confrontational experience. I don't think I even ever told them my limits. When they started out looking at rebates and were already under my bottom line, I just kept quiet and let them keep working. read more

I bought a loaded F-150 STX2 which I absolutely love. Hector Barrero was my salesman and made the process easy and pleasant. After looking at several dealers and mostly at used trucks, I arrived after hours at Long Lewis but on his way home Hector stopped to help me and set up a morning test drive of one I liked that had 2400 miles. When I arrived he had it ready along with a similar new one and showed me that after rebates I could get a new one for $300 more and it was a year newer. Traveler Friendly Our 2009 Class-C Motorhome (Ford E-450) with only 26,000 miles on it decided to self-destruct on the 4th day (Tuesday Oct 15th) of our 2 week vacation from San Antonio to Lancaster Ohio. I had a good idea of what had gone wrong when the engine started making all kinds of nasty noises near the top of a hill on I-65 and a quick glance at the gauges showed the oil light on and no oil pressure. I nursed it over the top of the hill and coasted down the other side to an off ramp. The tow operator suggested Long-Lewis as the best location for engine work on the Ford V-10. While waiting for the tow operator to get hooked up, I Googled Long-Lewis and made note of the not to stellar service speed. At the Service Department Chris Jones became my Service Advisor and promised to make every effort possible to expedite our repairs and get us back on the road. Luckily we were towing our auto behind the RV, so we had transportation. Chris showed me where the RV was parked and allowed us to offload what we needed to take with us. When the technician (Austin Armstrong) started the engine (for about 3 seconds) and turned to look at me, and nodded when I stated "Main Bearings", he said "and more", my thoughts can be summed up as $,$$$.$$. We had to wait until the next day for Austin to research obtaining a rebuilt long-block and misc items for the repairs. A discussion with Chris on the expected schedule revealed that he was making every attempt to meet his promise of expediting our repairs. The rebuilt engine would arrive by Thursday and Austin had volunteered to work Saturday (his day off normally) to get the repairs and testing done by Monday the 21st. We went on in our car to Ohio to meet up with our friends that had been with us. I called on Monday afternoon to check with Chris and he stated it was ready. We got back to Birmingham and picked up the RV on Tuesday and began our trip home on Wednesday. Having been in the auto repair business at one time I can tell you that my observations of the staff and process at this dealership show nothing but the best in effort and customer service. Yes, for many customers the wait will be long, but they need to understand that this is a VERY Busy service department and the staff is doing their best. I have one suggestion to customers, when you play the "squeaky wheel" and call for a status update, put a mirror (literally or figuratively) in front of you and keep a smile on your face, it will reflect in your tone and attitude as you talk. Circumstances like ours do cause delays in the work for others, but the dealerships efforts to ease the pain did not go unnoticed. The pricing for our repairs was about 10% higher than I could have gotten it done for in San Antonio, but I wasn't in S.A., and I wrote it off to being akin to expedited shipping. I'd like to thank Chris for his concern and excellent service, and especially to Austin for the extra effort and quality work. The drive to S.A. was uneventful; the engine performed better than the original and actually increased the gas mileage from an average of 6.7 to 7.4 mpg while towing the car. That means I can go about 35 miles further before the $80-$90 fill up! read more

This has been the worst experience I've ever had with a body shop. We're going on 7 weeks for repairing a fender. Every time I call, they tell me it will probably be done in a day or 2. But then they always have an excuse why it is taking longer. They are either incompetent, overworked, or just don't care. Probably a combination of all 3. I will never use this place again.
