There are both moorings and docks in the very beautiful harbor; you can't go wrong either way. There are 50 slips that cost $3.50 per foot of boat per night. A mooring costs $55.00 per night per boat . Boats over 55 feet cost $65.00 per boat per night. If you choose a mooring there is a launch service that will run you back and forth to the dock until 11pm Sunday through Thursday. On Fridays and Saturdays the launch is in operation until midnight. It starts daily at 8AM. The marina is so quiet at night. Each night we were there we slept soundly save for the lapping sound of the water against the boat and the cry of the seagulls waking us up in the morning. The marina itself is in the heart of Provincetown so once off your boat you are right in the thick of things and can walk or bicycle everywhere. If you don't have facilities on your boat there are bathrooms and showers up at the marina dock for customers. We did not have to use them so I can't comment on them one way or another. I did notice a sign stating that the showers take tokens for which you have to pay by the minute of running water. While not a big deal we have been to many other marinas where the showers come with the cost of your slip or mooring. The staff here is really very helpful and went above and beyond for us one night in particular. We were in town and suddenly the skies darkened and it looked like it might rain. So we called the marina and asked if someone would mind boarding our boat and shutting all the open windows and the hatch. Upon our return later that night everything had been nicely closed up for us. All of the staff we encountered from setting up our plans prior to leaving on our trip to our final day there when we pulled up anchor and left the Provincetown harbor, were all very nice and truly accommodating. We had a great time in Provincetown and it was made more homey and comfortable because of the terrific service at this marina. We'd stay here again for sure.

The only issue I had though was a HUGE problem for me. I needed to use the lavatories and ended up settling for the closes porta potty. I mean I've been camping, I've been to summer camp. I've seen worse. I mean the bathroom there is called "The Morgue." This was just wrong. No one had done maintenance on this facility, and it was a biohazard. Seriously, the person who is in charge of cleaning the area and maintaining this facility should be fired. I rarely say this, but I'm serious, someone could get very sick from walking into this space and touching anything. This was not ok in the least bit.

I've been coming up to P-town each year since I was a kid and this is a spot I love to visit each time. Before you get to the pier you have a good selection of places to grab a quick bite to eat. The ferry for Boston is at the end of the pier, but there are other spots along the way where you can catch boat or fishing trips. Some cute little shops also dot this pier, I picked up some adorable Cape Cod art prints for my wall. Be sure to look for the bench surrounded by the buoys, it's a nice place to get a photo. The pier is also a nice spot to take photos of the Pilgrim Monument. This is very close to Commercial Street, so it's worth taking 10 minutes to walk down the pier and soak up some New England vibes.

From Boston it takes about 45 minutes to get here. It's about the same as getting to Gloucester,…read morecloser than the Cape, closer than Newport, waaaaaay better than the Aqua Net of Revere Beach or the grit of M Street Beach in Southie. (no offense...I've been known to be gritty from time to time, and I'm a HUGE fan of Kelly's in Revere, so lay off and read on, bitches). I have been a regular at the Scituate Harbor Marina for longer than I can remember, since many, many family members are Scituate residents. Scituate is a beachy, laid back, very welcoming town on the ocean. You slow down from the hustle and bustle (hate that term, but you get it) when you come here. You know when you get closer to the marina, as your car tells you it's 5-10 degrees cooler from the sweltering heat of the city. The marina has a large parking lot. I have never had a problem parking there. The marina itself is very clean, as the harbormasters do a fabulous job, and are friends of the community. I have many family members who have had boats at this marina for years and years...they have never had ANY problems here as far as safety, noise control, cleanliness. From what I've learned... 1. There is a waiting list to get a slip for a boat here, so sign up before you're ready. 2. Get your reservation asap to launch your boat in the early summer, as those slots fill up quick. 3. No need to bring anything, as there is a grocery store, a Dunkin Donuts, many stores to buy clothes/bathing suits, a CVS, 2 banks, pet stores, bars, restaurants, a yoga shop, a liquor store, pizza shops all within walking distance. 4. The best time to check out the place is coming up in 2 weeks...the first weekend in August is Harborfest....there's an amusement park set up in the parking lot, lots of vendors selling food/crafts/jewelry/art etc, bands in the street, and fireworks at night. 5. Go down during low tide and head to the Spit...a quick boat ride to a sandbar full of parties. Dogs are allowed, and food and alcohol are a must-

This hidden gem is tucked away, off Pleasant Valley Rd in Amesbury, behind the mill building luxury condos. It's such a fun community here, where everybody is friends and everybody helps each other out. They run a very tight ship here, and everything is always clean and maintained. There's always a dockhand working, to help you out with whatever you need, which I love because I'm not the best at docking! They also have super clean restrooms and showers available. Paula is usually at the desk, and has always been helpful (and fun to chat with). If you are looking for a beautiful, clean spot to keep your boat, with friendly and helpful staff, Hatters Point is the place for you!
