This place is amazing. You can pick apples at the orchard right down the hill then head to the top for some cider tasting. They have hard cider, regular cider, slushes, and apple brandy. There are also food trucks and plenty of seating and lawn games. There are gorgeous sweeping views and everyone is friendly and helpful. You can also reserve a fire pit or a picnic table with the best views if you're coming with a group and want a reserved landing zone. We will be back!

The hard cider fermented and created here, are from apples from their 8th generation orchard. There are all varieties of ciders from sweet, dry, and more. There were plenty of parking. The views of this place are spectacular! There's a hard cider truck stand and the person working it was friendly and helpful. There were picnic tables under a tent and further down the hill; there were seats throughout and an area for the kids to play. They even had toys for the kids too. There is a viewing platform you can take selfies on; yes, they had a selfie stand/stick. There were plenty of large and clean porta potties. Apple picking there starts after Labor Day. They serve flights; I tried pretty much all of their offerings. My favorites were the green tea hard cider and strawberry hard cider. They also serve non alcoholic slushy cider; for a fee, you can add a shot of brandy. I'm sure the sunsets there are spectacular! We left before that happened. They serve cheese and crackers as a snack. There was a food truck that arrived shortly after we got there; we didn't get to try it though. Overall, we had a great afternoon there and can't wait to go back.

First time coming to the cider house, it's been open for a little over a year. Servers were friendly and were prompt with keeping the long line moving. We enjoyed a BEAUTIFUL sunset on top of the orchard hill top while sipping on their very diverse cider flavors. We shared a flight tasting of 10 (5oz) different ciders for 2 people ($44) and added a shot of apple brandy ($10) to go along! They offer hot mulled cider with a nice sugared rim for those chilly nights! Add a shot of brandy for an extra warm experience. The have donuts too if missed at the store They also offer blankets to borrow if all of the tables are occupied

Awesome place to hang and have cider and try the food trucks. The view is beautiful and if you have energy pick some apples.

I finally made it to the Long View Ciderhouse this weekend! I've heard about them for a while. This place is just beautiful! I have traveled across the country for views like this, and a great view can be found, right here in our little state of Connecticut. Upon arriving at Long View Ciderhouse, you will first have to cross their apple orchards. I probably shouldn't admit this publicly, but I picked an apple of the tree and ate it on my way up to the Ciderhouse. What a delicious and juicy apple! Once I reached the top of the hill, it was like a whole new world. There were food trucks, kids running around and playing, you could sit under the tent or on one of the adirondack chairs. They even have blankets you can borrow during your stay! I got a hot cider without alcohol. You can select from probably a dozen flavors of hard cider. The colors of the ciders seem to be synchronous with the colors of fall all around! This cider was very tasty, it was hot and sweet and it was just what I needed on this cool fall day! Of course, the cider, and all of the hard ciders on their menu are made with the apples from their orchard. In just a few short weeks the Long View Ciderhouse will be closing for the winter season. They will reopen again in May. Please go check out this beautiful Ciderhouse, if only for the view, the time was well spent!

    How to order cider

Long View Ciderhouse is a craft cidery that opened at Rogers Orchards in Southington, Connecticut in September 2023. It was founded by Jeff Rogers. The history of the orchard itself stretches back 8 generations to 1809. In that year, Chauncey Merriman purchased a plot of land at the south end of Shuttle Meadow Lake in Southington. He began to farm the land and handed it off to his son Anson. A progressive farmer, Anson planted a thousand Baldwin trees at the time when Baldwin apples were an untried variety of fruit. His son Josiah later took over the operation. Josiah's daughter Sarah married Elijah Rogers and later the farming operation was named 'Rogers Orchards'. Today the orchard has expanded to 275 acres and 20 varieties of apples (as well as 15 varieties of peaches) are cultivated. In 2006, Peter Rogers and his brother-in-law Greg Parzych took over the operation. In 2021, Peter's brother Jeff returned to the business to start a new venture: hard cider! Jeff is the head cider maker and carefully selects and sources a variety of apple types from the orchard to create unique and delicious cider varieties. The cidery's motto is "carpent tua poma nepotes": Latin for "let the grandchildren gather the fruit". My family and I visited Long View Ciderhouse this past weekend. It was the first day of Autumn and we had perfect weather for it. First we headed into the orchard to pick a peck of apples to take home. They had my favorite variety available: Macoun! They're crisp, sweet, tart, and incredibly juicy! Then we headed to the top of the hill where they have the cider truck, orchard bar, fire pits, plenty of tables and chairs, and spectacular views. My wife and I ordered 2 flights so we could sample all 10 of the ciders they had on draught (plus their Apple Brandy). Our favorites were the "Sweet Farm", the "Pure Peach" and the aforementioned Apple Brandy. Unfortunately the latter two weren't available in bottles yet, but we purchased a four-pack of Sweet Farm afterwards at the store. We also grabbed some sandwiches from a food truck to pair with our cider. The grounds are very family-friendly with lots of ride-on toys scattered around, much to the delight of our two sons. After our visit, we drove down the street to the farm store to purchase some sweet cider, pumpkin bread, apple cider donuts and an apple dumpling. We had an excellent experience at Long View Ciderhouse and look forward to returning!

Just discovered this little gem last fall! They pour their cider & brandy fresh off the tap on top next to Roger's Orchards in Southington. They have plenty of chairs seated around fire pits when the nights get cold. It can get windy up there, so bring extra layers just in case! Their cider is delicious, but the main attraction for me was the view. It's the best place to watch the sunset in CT. They are open Thursday-Sunday from late April-early November. They always have food trucks on sight for you to grab while you sip cider and take in the view. Please note: it is completely outdoors, so before you take a ride, head to their Instagram to make sure they're open if there's rain in the forecast. Their Instagram page is also a great way to stay in the loop for any events they may be hosting. As the weather gets nicer, be sure to check them out!

So happy to finally check out this place! We always go to Rogers Orchard and I definitely follow them on social media. I heard about the new Ciderhouse opening and I couldn't wait to see it. This place is gorgeous! Plenty of parking space, plenty of seating, food trucks and beautiful views. I would like to be honest and say that I had hard cider before at a different place and I wasn't too impressed. Somehow skeptical I only opted for a short glass of peach cider and to my surprise I loved it! Light and refreshing, I'm definitely coming back for more. I am in love with the small observation deck and look forward to fall foliage season! Service was great and I was so impressed by how many varieties of cider they offered. So happy that I have a place like this so close to home!!

I saw a fellow foodie post about Long View Ciderhouse and knew I had to check them out after seeing they had an omija cider! I am so glad as I did as this might be my new favorite spot! The area itself is stunning. The view is beautiful and there's many chairs to sit in, otherwise, you are able to bring a blanket or your own chair! We ordered 2 flights to try out all their ciders. We even had an apple brandy as part of it! Everything was tasty and had their own distinctive characteristics! Service was super quick. Even though the line was long, it went by fast! Loved that there are always food trucks. We went to a seafood one and ordered some yummy shrimp po boys and scallop sandwiches to pair! Great energy, great food, and an overall great spot! Can't wait to come back before the season ends!

Absolutely recommend this fantastic new cidery connected to a great apple orchard. Come for the cider, stay for the views! The ciders are refreshing, delicious and quite unique - the food trucks was awesome and the views were absolutely gorgeous. It's a great place to spend a nice day with friends and family to hang, eat, have kids play and run around. And then you can of course pick apples and grab some ciders, apple donuts, and more in the shop. Definitely worth a trip!

Nestled amongst the apple orchards of Roger's Orchard is the Longview Ciderhouse. The cidery is charming, tranquil, and very spacious. There is an observation platform on the property in which you can step on to and see the lush forestry below which adds to the serene and peaceful ambiance. There is an abundance of seating options available. You can be sheltered under the tent with picnic tables, or out on the lawn in one of the clusters of Adirondack chairs. There are also standing cocktail tables scattered around too. For entertainment, there's cornhole and a giant Connect Four games available to enjoy. During my visit, I had the pleasure of talking with the owner of the cidery, Jeff, and his mother, Nancy. They were welcoming and kind and shared insights into the cdery's development and upcoming projects. The Cidery offers a diverse cider selection, with options available from bottles and drafts. Bottled choices include Omija cider, a Korean berry resembling cranberry, alongside apple, pear, elderberry cider, cherry cider, and blueberry ciders. Additionally, homemade apple brandy is also offered. On tap, there was a farm cider, lemon balm cider, green tea peach cider, and apple peach cider. I opted for a flight, in which I was able to chose 3 ciders of my choice. I picked The farm house cider, apple peach cider, and omija cider for my flight. They were all delicious and crisp and ranged from a semi-sweet to dry. The Cidery sources its apples directly from Roger's Orchard, their 8th generation family farm. I definitely recommend visiting the cidery for a delightful hard cider experience, a tranquil atmosphere, and breathtaking views.

It's tucked inside an old industrial park. If you're not looking closely, you'll drive right past it. Outside, there's a casual setup with a tent, whiskey barrel tables, and some umbrellas, which sounds nice in theory, but the grass really needed a cut. It kind of took away from the whole outdoor vibe. I was planning to sit out there, so that was a bit of a letdown. Inside was a pleasant surprise. It's much bigger than it looks from the outside. The bar is right at the entrance, which made it feel like a high-traffic zone, so not ideal for lingering. There was a private party in the main room, so I headed back outside to enjoy the sun. Now to the cider: I asked for 2 samples and ended up with the cider that I didn't actually choose, but hey, I'm not one to make a fuss so I went with it. The cider I wanted was actually pretty tasty, so I might return just to give the menu another try. You know how some ciders are sweet and yummy? The one I got was the kind that tastes sour but has a higher ABV. Still good, but my goal was sweet and yummy. Service was fine but not overly warm. Nothing bad, just not memorable. Would I go back? Sure, on a really nice day. If they had live music, I'd absolutely give it another shot. There's potential here, especially for cider fans, but it's not quite my go-to yet. They did have a very cool bathroom sink. Points for that!

Ronald lived in London, England for a time and worked as a graphic designer. While in London, he saw how popular hard ciders were and it sparked his interest in the beverage. After returning to the states, he began making his own cider at home and enrolled in programs at Cornell and Oregan State Universities. He won numerous accolades over the years from his homemade ciders. Eventually, the Sansones decided to open their own cidery that featured hard ciders made from locally sourced apples. The cidery officially opened to the public in 2016 inside Middletown's old Remington Rand building. The historic building complex opened in 1896 as the Keating Bicycle Factory. Throughout the decades, motorcycles, automobiles, typewriters and even military missile parts were manufactured there. The building closed its doors in the early 1970s and fell into disrepair. The city later took it over and by 2009 it had been refurbished with several new tenants renting space inside. Sansone named the cidery 'Spoke & Spy' as a reference to the building's history as a bicycle factory as well as the Northern Spy Apple (one of Sansone's favorite varieties). I first visited Spoke + Spy in August 2019. I was training for the upcoming Closer To Free ride, so I decided to cycle from my home in North Haven all the way to Middletown (21 miles). By the time I made it to the cidery, I was very thirsty. The taproom is decorated with all sorts of bicycle memorabilia. I decided to order a sampler flight that consisted of six ciders ranging in flavors from pear to grape. I liked them all, but my favorite was a tart, semi-dry strawberry-rhubarb cider called "Love Shouldn't Hurt". I ended up purchasing a growler of it to bring back home. If you plan on visiting the cidery in Middletown, I must recommend making it a craft beer afternoon because the Remington Rand building is also home to Stubborn Beauty Brewing and Forest City Brewing.
