When my son first started karate, he was beyond anxious. He's naturally a little ball of anxiety and has always struggled with self-confidence, so starting something new felt overwhelming for him. Before enrolling, we visited the dojo just to tour the location and help ease his nerves. We are so incredibly thankful that Sensei Ayraton took the time to personally give him a tour and gently reassure him before his first class. That meant more to us than she probably realizes. On the day of his first class, my son cried and was extremely anxious. Instead of pushing him, Sensei Ayraton allowed him to simply watch and get comfortable at his own pace. That patience and understanding made all the difference. By the next class, he was ready to slowly ease in. Since then, my son has grown so much. He now loves karate and looks forward to every session. I've watched his self-esteem and confidence grow week after week, and it has been such a blessing to see. My daughter has been coming here for over 3 years now and it all started with a trial class where she got to break boards. Previously, she was going to a dojo that unfortunately never reopened after COVID. I went on Yelp to browse places in the community, and Longevity offered a trial class unlike other places I inquired about. Aside from my daughter enjoying the classes, she has been taught important lessons - not only within martial arts but lessons that she could incorporate outside of the dojo. We don't find other karate/ninja's class for as young as our daughter's age. She started when she turned 3. This is a small size dojo. Attention given to each kid are amazing. We love our new sensei. Sensei Archie. His method of teaching, connection, disclipine, attentiveness are on point. We sure do believe how much kid need disclipine and understanding in hard work. They do need it nowadays. Her knowledge of the curriculum was solid. She tailored her teaching to the needs of each student. We have also attended another local martial arts program. I'm a high school teacher, and so I'm always sensitive to teaching practices. Sensei James is an incredible educator, which shows in his ceaseless patience, constant encouragement, calm discipline, and behavioral standards. My daughter began training with Sensei James when she turned five years old. I say "training" because that is the most accurate term I can use for such a professional and organized curriculum; she learned how to do (real) push-ups, sit-ups, the splits, and more, which all contributed to her being such a strong athlete. Seriously. I never thought my child would be so buff at this age. Also, there have been two occasions at school when a boy on the playground has tried to physically overpower her, and she used the self defense techniques that were taught to her in order to defend herself and get away. She didn't even think about it; the defense she used was automatic due to all the training by Sensei James. A year and a half later, we are still with Black Belt Kids. My daughter is on her way to earning her double stripe black belt. Her timid voice as a five year old has been replaced by a powerful and confident tone that doesn't tolerate any bullying. As a parent of a little girl, that's all I wanted to be instilled in her (and my main reason for enrolling her in karate), and I'm so grateful that Sensei James was conducive to creating that strength in her. read more

Master Handley and Sensei Schmidt offer a safe place to explore martial arts. I found the Fullerton location through the City of Fullerton Parks & Rec. It can be intimidating trying to learn something new as an adult. Martial Arts has been something I've been wanting to try. The friendly instructors have been encouraging in helping me reach goals. The facilities are nice & clean and the classes are a good small size, which makes it comfortable to learn in. I recommend this place! read more

Our daughters have been taking karate here since it opened a couple years ago. We are super happy with BBK. I tried out a larger karate dojo before finding this one and wasn't thrilled about how crowded and chaotic it was. This is a smaller dojo where the kids get way more one on one instruction. Black Belt Kids is a superb program for kids! I went to the typical karate program when I was a kid and I was in the same program as adults. BBKs is much better in my opinion because it's structured just for kids by their age group. Sensei James has amazing patience and I've seen my son grow by leaps and bounds in a short time.
