Master Choi is amazing! My son was a student here for about a year and Master Choi helped transition my son into a confident child with knowledge of self defense, what it means to respect and also have self-respect. 10/10 highly recommend! Also, the parents here are very nice and welcoming. Great culture here and if we didn't have to move away, my son would still be a student here for years to come. Also, i saw some message about "ripping off" and "pressure tactics" and I can 100% vouch that this is not what takes place here. Master Choi is extremely generous and even let my son continue to take classes here while we were about to move without charging us for another month. I can't say enough good things about this place.

I've been bringing my son for a year and it's been amazing to see how much he has improved and grown since being at YK. Master Choi is amazing! Came here after trying out a different location and this place left me with much better impressions. Master Choi was very nice and patient with my daughter and helped eased her into it. He told us to take all the time we need to observe until she feels comfortable which really helped. They rip you off, you sign a contract for agreed price, then they force you to paymore by pressure tactics, retarded, they get pissed at you when you call them on it, don't go here, if the guy in charge doesn't agree with you it looks like he wants to beat you up read more

You will get charged for every small thing apart from your monthly fees . Mr Choi does not mention this when signing up . He does payments for his accommodations he doesn't work with you with the dates . Even when trying to speak to him he will just charge you . read more

This is a great place to take your kids to learn taekwondo and martial arts! Not only has my son has learned a lot of valuable skills but also discipline, determination, and respect. Master has his ways with kids and he will do his best in order to make sure your child is learning the proper techniques. YK Martial Arts is the best. My son loves to go to YK martial arts. Master Choi is passionate in Taekwondo and he is great with dealing with kids. He is very patient with children and does not give up on your kid. My son is shy time to time but ever since he started Taekwondo, he gained so much confidence through learning Taekwondo at YK martial arts. Also, they sanitize kids' little hands before they enter the class and wear mask during the sessions. Highly recommend YK Martial Arts!! read more

Great classes for kids of all ages and skill levels. My son is 9 yrs old and has tried many different classes and activities but this one has seemed to have the most impact. He looks forward to it everytime and is excited to be there. The funny thing is we just came in to ask for information as we were just walking by one day and Master Choi made a great first impression. He spoke directly to my son and made sure that it was something he wanted to do and even offered a free class for him to try it out. However, after a quick chat with the Sensei, he made some adjustments that may seem little to him, but impacted our toddler and how we viewed each class. I have also seen other parents bring up concerns or feedback to the Senseis and instructors and noticed they do their very best to accommodate and/or adjust based on it. I also love the flexibility of the schedule. Some weeks we are busier than others but it is very nice that there's no need to call in or commit to specific days of the week. The times are perfect as well, especially for parents who might live further and don't get off work until 5pm. Each Sensei and instructor has been very patient, creative, and still fun with my toddler and other kids in the class. Every kid is so different yet they're able to manage the class with various personalities and energy levels. I also love that they do not exclude anyone! It is a safe space for any kid, young adult, or adult to build confidence and enjoy something where they are their own person. If you're unsure which dojo to try, they offer a free trial class so you can observe and get a feel for it.

YK Martial Arts is a great facility for children of all ages. Master Choi has a great balance between sternness and kindness. He teaches children respect and discipline. The staff is very helpful with the younger children. My child has been going for about 6 months now and I can see how much he has learned. Overall it's a great facility. read more

My son loves his TK teacher Mr. Choi it's exciting to see him excited for class and ready to learn. I love how Mr. Choi is patie with the children even when they are having a bad day. YK Martial Arts started Yoga classes for adults and its AWESOME!! The instructor Jamie Oh is the best. She explains how to move your body for every move and how it should feel. 9/5/26 Progress report…read more Humorous, strict, and kind Masters As I mentioned in my previous reviews, Master Yoo is always a joy to watch. He has so much personality in the way he teaches. He animated voice, different pitches and tones, and facial expressions really keep the students engaged (and the parents too, speaking for myself!). He can definitely be loud when it comes to training and those paddle claps, but he also knows when to soften his approach. It's a delicate balance, and I think he does a great job reading the room and paying attention to the students' responses before deciding how to respond. I've also really enjoyed seeing Master Y become more comfortable leading the class over the past few weeks. He is very knowledgeable and patient with the students. I often see him walking around the room correcting their forms and demonstrating movements to make sure everyone understands and is training correctly. It's been nice watching his confidence grow as a teacher. Black belt student teachers We've had the opportunity to learn from two fabulous black belt student teachers: Andrew, who we've had for several classes now, and Lilian, who we've had for one class so far. Both are kind, encouraging, disciplined, and great role models in the classroom. They demonstrate beautiful form and are always very focused and precise when showing the students how to perform a task. They also bring such a positive energy into the classroom. My girls are especially motivated whenever they get to have class with them. They come home wanting to practice more and do better at each class, which I think says a lot about the impact these student teachers have on them. Improving punches & kicks My girls continue to be very motivated to improve their punches and kicks and, more importantly, to perform them correctly. So far, they've learned the traditional front kick, axe kick, and roundhouse kick, along with the jumping versions of these kicks. With each class, I can see them becoming more comfortable and confident with the movements. It's been really fun watching them go from figuring out the basics to getting more confident with each technique. Basic One & Their First Belt Test The girls mastered Basic One in preparation for their belt test and have also gotten to see demonstrations of Basic Three and Basic Five from some of the upper-level students. Needless to say, they were EXTREMELY excited to earn their new belts. We practiced with them day and night leading up to the test! For the belt testing itself, there were multiple color groups, and I definitely underestimated how many people would show up early. I originally thought the testing would be completed in stages, but it ended up being everyone in one class, which made for a very packed waiting area. More than a few parents, myself included, ended up watching the testing from outside the classroom. And let me tell you... it was a little brutal outside. It happened to be one of the hottest and most humid days, AND we had to deal with mosquitoes attacking us. But we all survived! I also found that the white belt testing was a little less intense than what we had anticipated. But honestly, I think that's a good thing. It probably wouldn't be very encouraging for a first belt test to feel overwhelmingly difficult. The goal is to challenge the kids while also giving them that first taste of accomplishment and confidence to push harder. The girls were absolutely thrilled to receive their new belts, and they were especially excited to take a photo with both Masters afterward. Definitely a proud parent moment! Self-Defense After belt testing week, there has been more focus on self-defense, which I really appreciate. The girls are learning to use their voices by speaking loudly and confidently, followed by getting into a defensive position. They're also learning the difference between an attack position and a defense position, and more importantly, understanding when and why each position is used. I really like that self-defense is being introduced early and that the focus isn't just on physical movements, but also on awareness, confidence, and using their voices. Respect & focus One of my favorite parts of class is how it always ends with a team huddle. Master Yoo reviews the students' focus tasks, talks about what they did well, and points out areas they can continue to improve. When they do a good job, they can earn their strip colors, which gives the kids a little extra motivation to stay focused and do their best. It's a simple way to reinforce respect, focus, discipline, and teamwork while ending class on a positive note. My girls continue to have so much fun, and I love seeing their confience and skill grow with each class! PS. It is referral month if your kids want to try something new!

He's an avid competitor and genuinely enjoys it, win or lose. I don't think he'd take so much enjoyment if it weren't for the nourishment from his professors and coaches. It's been two years at the gym and both kids have formed new friendships outside of practice as well. It's an encouraging, ego free, and judgement free environment.
